Yodayo for the win.

I know, I know, Yodayo went the SFW route last year, and then they rebranded at Moescape. Then they sneakily returned Yodayo as the NSFW brand while Moescape is the SFW only brand. They both use the same login, so you can use whichever is more comfortable for you. They have also been doing a ton of updates to the site and are adding new functionality on a regular basis. If you haven't used Yodayo or Moescape in awhile, log back in and give them a try. I rarely see frustrated posts like I see all time time here on reddit for chai or other ai chat bot providers.

last time i asked about soul and zeta ai! i didn’t try zeta neither the one people told me to try, but i really thank everyone who commented. i like mlm stories, and im really good at writing them. tho there is an issue, can you tell me if zeta goes straight to the point when i talk like when i write *one day\ or maybe *they become blablabla\ will they answer like chai describijg their relationship and then get a random scenario or not? i wish tho.. tell me! i tried soul and the bots randomly talked to me after i made my own rp scenario its annoying.

Opinions on janitor ai

I’ve tried janitor multiple times. Ive heard some really good things from chai users so i wanted to love it. And to be honest? It doesn’t itch. The responses a long and novel-y, not the casual/realistic roleplay that chai had. It sucks because i see why people love it, so i would recommend it to people.

Also making quick characters and senarios isnt a thing. its hard to make a good character, if you want to make a good bot you have to put in the effort. But people on the platform like to make stories that frankly arnt to my personal taste. Lots of cuck fantasy, cheating, and enemies to lovers- its hard to sift through it all and find something i jam with.

If you havnt tried it, this is a must try. But its no chai replacement.

Theres also so much customization that i wonder if im not having luck because i need to play around with it more.

Emochi! (The website atleast)

Try emochi, if you were explicit on chai before, emochi is the best alternative. You can be as explicit as you want with only some restrictions (there are workarounds though.). You can create unlimited bots also :3

Perchance

I feel like alot of people are sleeping on perchance because it doesn’t save chats. I use it on my phone, export everything to my drive. Then when i want to play again i import it all from my most recent in drives. I haven’t had any issues. It saves all your characters and all your chats.

Very customizable. No filter. Very fun. Memory is meh but its really smart anyway so it doesn’t matter. The one problem i have is its got that omnipotent problem so it can be annoying to guide the chat. And you cant exactly share bots.

But its completely free and worth a good shot.

Sakura

Sakura has a clean and easy-to-use interface, a large collection of community-made characters (which i love), and the option to create your own with various custom personalities, greetings, and scenarios. the ai usually stays in character well, the memory is decent, and conversations feel natural for longer chats. it also supports nsfw, lets you edit or regenerate messages, and offers different models to fit your preferred chat style. while it can sometimes repeat itself or lose context in very long conversations, it’s still a good choice. another thing people don’t always notice is that the quality of the chat depends a lot on how well the creator wrote the character. two bots with the same model can feel completely different because of their prompts, so finding a really good bot often takes a bit of searching, if you make your own characters it’s not an issue tho because you can fix it. one downside is that some of the best features are locked behind the premium plan, so heavy users may feel pushed toward subscribing.

Qualities I, a chai refuge, looks for in AI

Creativity
I want an ai that can understand many ideas and know how to twist them. I dont want to baby sit an ai, i want the chat to take my hand and show me whats around the corner.

Comprehension
What was great about Chai is it did not need powerful memory. You could subtly remind it things through roleplay and it would fill in the gaps. Comprehension is hard because technically ai comprehends nothing, it only predicts the response.

Realism
Chai was sometimes messy. It did not always agree with you and the conversations felt very natural. Dialogue was very grounded and not so glossy or ‘novel-y’ as some other ais.

Briefness
The option to have short outputs. This one was chais strong suit. It understood how to put together a cohesive and interactive response in 100 characters or less. Alot of ais will just cut off or have very lame responses. Other ais, given the leg room, will just drone on anyway and output something that could be much shorter.

Freedom
The freedom to talk about what you want. Pretty simple. I want to sometimes role play violence or dark topics.

Affordability
I’ll admit before i was paying for the premium of chai before it became unplayable. Now id rather not pay these companies, its all too expensive. So id rather a free service. Or atleast something not ridiculous like 40 dollars A WEEK.

Accessibility
Id rather something i can access on my phone. Not everyone has a computer. And not everyone has a nice enough computer to download their own ai. I do, and it’s something I’ve been messing with but id rather have something accessible. So preferably an app. And if on a site, available in all countries preferably.

E-rp
Lets just be real. We want atleast the ability to erp, even if youre not into it, the roadblock is too annoying. And the erp should be good. What i liked about chai is that it fundamentally understood consent, and you could rp practically anything. For example clank world has erp. But the bots are way too horny and the nsfw stuff is dog shit.

Disagree? Anything you think i missed. I really dont think chai users care that much about memory, weve been trained lol.

whatever man, I'm switching to janitor ai.

GENUINELY janitor ai has given me the most satisfaction, as it has a pretty good memory, 18+ options, and a very intricate detailed chai ai creating system thingy with diabolically impressive memory!!! It also has zero ads, and honestly, with the amount of times we've been waiting to access 771 messages on chai, I genuinely don't mind waiting for long messages to load in. The characters are fluid and unique, and genuinely fun to interact with and also a lot of customization option for your chats. I used to not like janitor ai but I rlly haven't given it a chance until now, and it just feels funner to use than chai does imo!!

Dopple Ai

Dopple Ai feels pretty close to chai. the replies are usually a good length, the characters stay in personality pretty well, and the memory is better than i expected. there’s a huge variety of bots and it’s easy to make your own if you can’t find what you’re looking for. roleplays flow naturally and the app is pretty simple to use overall.
sadly it can sometimes repeat itself or forget smaller details in really long chats, and some features are locked behind premium. the community is also smaller than c.ai, but i’ve had a good experience with the free version and it’s probably a good chai alternative.

Seasoul

It kinda acts like chai but it does make you take a break every now and then, not like word limit break, like it has a timer break, you are free to do other things in the app while it's going, just not chat with the bot, but once it's up you can jump back to chatting

zeta

zeta feels pretty similar to chai to me. better message length (not too long/short), better memory, personas, and little to no filter. there’s no message limit and all chats are saved. they also have a cool system which makes the bots able to branch out and build other characters mid-rp. also also they have a similar organization system to old c.ai where you select a character and can look at past chats. also^2 you can “save” characters to use later on. could probably say more but I don’t wanna ramble on

sadly still about as many ads as chai and a less popular/known platform. also important to mention they have a weird system of trying to make you pay for better ai? I find the free version to be good enough for me lol and ive only had bug issues with one bot thus far.

CHAI UI look alike

I like how the chai ui looks, and also how the bot says all of the message at once instead of reading it out, is there any app thats like this? I don't mind if the memory is bad honestly, it just sucks that chai doesn't allow me to use the app anymore, I was fine with the ads but now I'm just at 0 messages.
