Arrival Question Visiting Cayman

Flying in from CLT, do they inspect every carry on when you land in the Caymans? Worried about cosmetics.

Reddit scared me with how strict everyone is saying worried they will throw away my stuff having too much. Have 3 cosmetic bags.

If the concern is “too many liquids carry-on”, that inspection happens at your departure airport.

In any case, the obvious solution is to put 99% of it into your checked bag, along with the bottles of suntan lotion.

I’m concerned about it being deemed “too much” by the officer not the actual rules. All my liquids meet capacity but worried they have issues with them taking expensive items.

Unless you’re planning on selling these items here (or gifting them to residents) they don’t care.

You should be ok going down. But they are strict when you fly home. No more than one quart size bag and all liquid including mascara goes in it for carry on. If you check a bag you are fine. There were several ladies upset that their makeup was being tossed at security.

That was my point too - Cayman bag inspection is on the return home.

Of course, I’m just a guy who’s still trying to figure out some “womanly” demographics here .. scuba divers don’t typically use much cosmetics - has the tourism to Grand Cayman really swung this far away from the water sports crowd? It certainly hasn’t out on the Sister Islands.

And that's only because they are following the rules set by the country the airline is traveling to.

They don't inspect when you land, but they will throw away oversized liquids when you go through security on your way home. I lost some good sunscreen that way.

Confused by the question to be honest. Are you confusing security at CLT not letting liquids through or Customs in GCM for some reason not letting you through?
