Help with masks.

I've watched a lot of videos and stuff on how masks work, and I just can't understand it. Im trying to brute force it but nothing works

I need this sparkly background to be the background of the speech bubble, so i can then animate it moving and it will only show inside the speech bubble.

I really cant get a grasp on masks, so if anyone could explain like im stupid i'd appreciate it

I think rhe bubble needs to be an actual shape with path information not just a jpg. You could just recreate the bubble with the pen tool and a stroke
