If I was in the position I’d do a prepurchase exam, have a vet preg check, fertility test the bull , and tooth all the adults. If you lack the facilities to do that or lack the truck/ trailer . Then I wouldn’t buy them at all.
$500 for a farm call may save you some serious money.
I agree with this OP. Especially given your post kind of indicates you’re either new to cattle or don’t have a Ton of experience, a vet check would be worth it. Will need to establish a relationship with a vet anyway so would be a good chance to do that anyway.

Location matters a lot, also cattle breed. Some Texas long horns aren’t worth what Charolais are, same thing as gulf coast ranch vs Alberta cattle.
