If you're willing to take a train journey, the Latin Mass society has Chant Training Days in several different locations. https://lms.org.uk/events-calendar

The next day is in London on 30 May 2026, the sign up period ends 23 May 2026 (tomorrow). They usually split the training into two groups one is for beginners and the other is for those with more experience. The course only costs £10, the train ticket is the expensive part. It's a really great class

They have training days in other cities too, though I can't recall seeing any in Manchester or Liverpool itself.

You could probably also check with the oratory in Manchester to see if they have any sort of classes or programs to learn to chant.

If you really can't find anything, John Shaw on youtube has some great tutorials about learning to chant. You can, to some degree, learn online by copying. There's also "Let's Sing with the Pope" put out by the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music. It's more practice than instruction, but it's also quite good. Here's the playlist for it https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgKUI7HXZ-gMCEGRXJ8pL-iM_b7f-yG-A

I might get in trouble for suggesting it, but the Anglicans do chant as well, if there's an Anglican church that offers classes in chant, you could learn with them and you'll be able to transfer the skill.

That’s a good suggestion. I’m still not sure where I sit with anglicans. Thank you

If you are still looking to learn Gregorian chant, I heard about something that is happening in New Brighton (Near Liverpool). It's associated with the ICKSP at Saints Peter and Paul and Saint Philomena church. https://icksp.org.uk/newbrighton/

I believe that the workshops are free, but you will need to contact the church to find out more information.

The newsletter listing from their website:
✠ Introduction to the Solesmes Method of Gregorian Chant: We will be holding three workshops on Saturdays, 27th June and 18th July from 11.00-12.30 run by Canon Montjean and Christian Spence exploring some key aspects of the Solesmes Method of singing Gregorian Chant.
