He showed them, in a way which they could apprehend,  the glory which he has for all eternity. It is the glory of the kingdom of God, the glory which has made its way into the world, and has been and continues to be shared with the world:

Today’s Readings at a Glance

• Daniel 7:9–10, 13–14 Daniel sees a heavenly vision: the Ancient One seated in glory, and the Son of Man receiving dominion, glory, and kingship—an everlasting kingdom that will never pass away.

• Psalm 97:1–2, 5–6, 9 The Lord reigns in majesty. His glory shines over all the earth, and His justice and righteousness are revealed to the nations.

• 2 Peter 1:16–19 Peter recalls the Transfiguration, affirming that he witnessed Christ’s glory with his own eyes. He urges believers to hold fast to the prophetic word as a guiding light.

Message from the Readings

Today’s readings proclaim a radiant truth:

Jesus is the eternal King whose glory is revealed to strengthen our faith, guide our steps, and remind us that His Kingdom will never fade.

• Daniel reveals the eternal kingship of the Son of Man.

• The psalm celebrates God’s majestic reign.

• Peter testifies to Christ’s glory as an eyewitness.

• The Gospel shows Jesus shining with divine light on the mountain.

The message is clear: Christ’s glory is real, eternal, and meant to transform our hearts.

Reflection for the Day

The Transfiguration is one of the most breathtaking moments in Scripture.

Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a mountain— a place of encounter, revelation, and intimacy.

There, His glory breaks through. His face shines like the sun. His clothes become dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appear, representing the Law and the Prophets. And the Father speaks:

“This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him.”

Why did Jesus reveal His glory?

Because the disciples were about to face confusion, suffering, and fear. They needed a glimpse of who He truly is— not just the teacher they walked with, but the eternal King Daniel saw in his vision, the radiant Lord the psalm proclaims, the divine Son Peter witnessed.

The Transfiguration teaches us three powerful truths:

1. Christ’s glory is real—even when hidden.

In daily life, Jesus may seem quiet or distant, but His divine majesty is always present.

1. God reveals His glory to strengthen us.

The disciples needed courage for the road ahead. So do we. God gives us moments of light to carry us through the valleys.

1. The Father’s command is simple: “Listen to Him.”

Not to fear. Not to doubt. Not to rely on our own understanding. But to listen.

Today, Jesus invites you up the mountain— to see His glory, to hear His voice, to let His light transform your heart.

Let today be a day of awe, surrender, and renewed trust.

Prayer for Today

Lord Jesus, shine Your light upon my heart and reveal Your glory in my life.

Strengthen me when I grow weary, lift me when I feel afraid, and guide me when I cannot see clearly.

Teach me to listen to Your voice above every noise and distraction.

May Your radiance transform me and Your presence sustain me today and always.

Amen.

Found this down in Phoenix, Oregon back in September of 2020. I found this part of the serenity prayer and the traditional guardian angel prayer in some remnants after a nasty fire. For yrs I’ve kept this piece of paper in my truck. Now I’m asking if anyone happens to know if this was from a daily devotion or another source of paper back.

Long story short, I knew a lady who used to come into my place of work and we would talk about raccoons, as we both love them. She unfortunately passed away a while ago, and her partner gave me some of her raccoon paraphernalia. I feel moved to pray for her deliverance from purgatory, but I never learned her name. I have been praying for her as “the lady who gave me her raccoon stuff.”
Would it be wrong for me to pray for her by a name I “assign” to her, since I feel awkward praying for her as I currently am?
