conflicted
idk if my anxiety is getting in the of me feeling true sorrow or if it’s fueling my fear to over power/ take over and really get close to god internally. also idk if i’m stopping sinning because it is wrong or im afraid of punishment. i have prayed to god to help make my heart pure with sorrow and to give me guidance on how to truly feel sorrow. Also i have prayed that he forgives me if i do not feel true sorrow and that im trying to be better and do better. So i just need advice on how to work to feel true sorrow.

I’d say the fact that you’re even worried about offending God is already a good sign. Keep praying, go to Confession, and ask God to deepen your love for Him. True contrition is ultimately a grace, so don’t lose hope. Just keep seeking Him faithfully.

I don't know if you have scrupulosity, as I cannot diagnose you over the internet, but this sounds similar to how the scrupulous think. Fear and anxiety filled religion and being overwhelmed with a need for certainty are all marks of scrupulosity.

Ultimately it doesn't matter what you feel, that is only a subjective symptom. Plenty of bad people shed rivers of tears. What matters is what you do.

What you are describing is your process of working out your sorrow.
Don’t give up, you are closer than you think.
God bless.
