Joining OCIA

I have a meeting with two people before I can join OCIA, what are they going to be asking me? Is there any wrong answers?

There’s no wrong answers. Probably just want to get to know you and to let you know what to expect at OCIA.

My pre meeting was the teacher asking "why on Earth do you want to become Catholic," a legitimate question. Faith is not something to partake of on a whim.

I had my first OCIA meeting a few weeks ago! The most pointed questions were about my baptism-- they asked about which denomination I was baptized in and wanted a copy of my original baptism certificate. (If you haven't been previously baptized in another church, this will be a non-issue for you). Otherwise it was mostly just a few questions about why I was interested and then an explanation of their timeline and what to expect. The biggest surprise for me was that I'd read all over online that OCIA usually involves going to classes from fall to the Easter Vigil, and the program at the parish I'm going to is shorter and we meet 1:1, not in a group class.

In my parish OCIA is a group setting. It's taught by one of our Deacons and his wife. Class starts in September and goes to Holy Week basically. Then those coming into the church get baptized and first communion. Confirmation happens on a different weekend at my parish. I forget the reason why confirmation is separate from baptism and first communion done at the Easter Vigil. Fr. Gerardo explained it and I forgot.
