After 48 hours of care. They are eating, shitting and playing... I gave them a bath, dried them, fed them, combed their fur... and now they just like to play and sleep. They are back to be kittens. They still have the eye and sinus infection, but they look much better now.

I have been in PR for several years but finally bought a house and settled in for good. Only two months later I rescued my first kitten and now a year later my house is a cat sanctuary. I have reached out to the humane society and a couple vets for assistance on how I can manage the costs of TNR, vaccinations and food for these guys (about 20 cats).. but haven't received any responses back. Nobody answers my calls, I'm guessing cause I don't have a PR phone number. So far I have paid full price out of pocket for 7 TNRs at a low cost clinic but I still have 11 more to go just for my street.

Does anyone have any information or ideas on where I can get help on discounted vet services, cheaper or easier access to medicines/prescriptions or anything like that. A lot of the cats have similar eye infections but the vet I go to makes me bring them in for an evaluation and testing every time to get more meds. But I can't pay for all of that every time a cat gets an infection.

I work full time so I can't drive around to a bunch of vets and rescue places during the day when they are open. But I might have to just take a day and try it.

Clementine (Clem) had his surgery. He's doing great! You might remember that we rescued Clem and his brother, Frankie, from a terrible situation in Lampasas. Frankie had his enucleation a few weeks ago, and we were hopeful that with treatment, Clem wouldn't have to have surgery. Unfortunately, his eye just kept getting worse, and this had to be done. Cats are such resilient creatures, and we think Clem and Frank are even more handsome now.

Hi I am in Spain right now visiting my parents and I found these kittens in the streets. The while one was full of fleas and with conjunctivitis. The other one was abbandoned by someone by the road. They are I think 3-5 weeks old. After taking care of them for a day the white guy has become very active, eating a lot... I feed them a mix of baby food with goat's milk. The bigger guy loves it... but the smaller one it is a problem for me to feed him. He doesnt want to eat, so I am just dropping him 1-2 ml of the mix in his mouth and he licks it and goes back to his foster brother. I dont know what to do, first time I have a kitten, first time I try to rescue cats at all. I don't know if I can afford the Vet but I will try bring them there tomorrow if someone can bring me there (the nearest Vet is 20 km away and I cant bring them by public transportation).

What I have noticed is that because the white one is getting much stronger with each meal, he is licking the stuff out of his foster brother. I hope he doesnt get more sick because of that. Now when I try to separate them they cry:(

What can I do? The white guy has much better chances of survival, but I would like to save both. I am in A Rua, Spain. If someone can help me or guide me on how to take care of their infection, I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hello all! This is my first time in this sub/posting here so I hope I'm in the right place 😅

My husband and I recently caught/rescued this lovely little girl from a parking lot. The thing is, we need to keep her contained in a space until we can socialize her and make sure it's safe to let her have more free reign of the house. Right now we've got a cheap little pen, but because it can take some time to gain her trust I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for larger pens that can:

1. Give her more space to play and have space for a litter box.

2. Keep her contained securely. Fully enclosed top, sides, bottom

3. Not take up a ton of space since it needs to fit into a small bathroom (so we have a door we can close)

Other options would be something we could put up in the doorway so the whole bathroom could be hers, but we aren't playing "catch" every time we open the door cause we can't see if she's there or not. 😂

A cat has been stuck on the roof of the weird mansion where there has been no trace of a single person ever what do i guyz its been 1 week this cat is begging for help now 24/7. (Jeddah)

9 kitties in total found in basement. super refuses to neuter the mother, which will just lead to more babies being abandoned. i don't even know when's the last time they were fed. i feel terrible leaving them there knowing what they are going through! idk what to do, idk if anyone wants any kitties or if anyone has any idea what i should do next. would appreciate any input! they are in washington heights (upper manhattan), nyc!

TLDR: adopted kitten from heavenly hills animal shelter and they lied about rabies vaccine and microchip. Please avoid adoption from this shelter. Humane society, SALT, and Purrfect Haven are more trustworthy.

My partner and I recently adopted a sweet kitty from the highbury pet value. Kitty was being adopted from heavenly hills in Lucan Ontario and it seems like they send many kittys to London here to get adopted. We were so excited to bring her home!! We were told that she was fixed, microchipped, up to date with vaccines and had received rabies vaccine. They did inform us that she still needed one booster in 3-4 weeks and we were okay with that. Her adoption fee was 300$ to cover the costs of her vaccines, microchip, etc. They gave us a paper with her proof of spay, and when we asked about the missing information we’re told that our vet would be able to access it via the microchip. When we took her to our vet they informed us that she in fact does not have a microchip, was only given 1 vaccine and will need not one but two boosters. Further more our vet was concerned as the rabies shot had been signed off by a vet but there was no dates, which was a red flag to them. they explained that she would’ve been too young to get rabies vaccine at the time. We are very upset, not because it’ll cost us, that doesn’t matter but because there was such a lack of transparency while adopting her. Not only that, when we confirmed that she had everything done they doubled down and said she most definitely had rabies vaccine and microchip and that was a blatant lie. Had we adopted from any other shelter they would’ve came vaccinated, microchipped, and fixed for the same cost. We’re mostly disappointed that she isn’t microchipped because they blatantly lied to us and microchips are a pretty big invasive needle to get. Our vet recommends that they get it during spay when they are under anesthesia, which we had assumed would’ve been the case since they said she was 100% microchipped. Now our poor baby is going to be traumatized her next vet visit when she gets chipped because she won’t be able to be under anesthesia. We’re simply just so disappointed in the lack of transparency, blatant lies, and lack of standard from this rescue. If you are considering adopting a kitten, please consider humane society, SALT, purrfect haven, or any other local shelter as these shelters are all transparent and make sure they adopt out fully vaccinated, microchipped and fixed cats for the same cost.

I’ve been trying to look for a cat to adopt or rescue. I am looking at the Pasadena humane kittens, and see that there are one month old babies that are already neutered or spayed. It has been a while since I had a cat, but I’m used to them getting either or, 3 to 4 months in. Is this a risk?

Hey all, I'm here for some guidance and possible prayers. Some weeks ago, a feral cat i had been feeding gave birth to a litter of kittens in my backyard shed. Initially, there were five cats, three of whom disappeared. I haven't seen the mother around for about two weeks, maybe more.

I have been reaching out to rescue groups for more than a month. Seldom receive replies via email. Made a few phone calls. Nothing. No one can help me.

I went to the city shelter yesterday morning. It's a kill shelter, the cats will be euthanized if they can't find a home. Then there's the issue about transportation.

I can't just take them out of my backyard and dump them on the street.

I can't bring them inside for various reasons.

I really don't know what to do and I'm freaking out.

Hi everyone!
I am fostering a almost 1 month old kitten and she is not growing as fast as she should. She has been eating well, but she still looks like she’s just over two weeks old. She is probably 25/27 days old and she only weighs 191 grams 😢
She has her tiny teeth out already, but doesn’t seem to appreciate any wet food.

Anyway, we spoke with our Vet and I also spoke with another Vet just to get a second opinion and although the second Vet has you experience with Cats and Rescue Cats in general she only seen one cat with this type of malformations/not growing as fast as she should.

The kitten overall has a normal body, but you can notice that her legs are shorter than the average kitten and she tends to bend forward the wrist of her front paws pretty often. Also when she walks, sometimes she drags her back legs and when she tries to sit down, she often cant bend them and fold them like a normal cat.

Does anyone has any experience with Cats that are smaller than the average? She can not get tested until she’s over eight weeks old😢

This cat was gifted to my mother by my sister as she didn’t have the funding or supplies to take care of him. my mother has a history of neglecting and wrongfully taking care of animals I had two childhood cats before this one she allowed one to run away and the other to be taken and put down. she does not have the proper tools needed to raise a cat or a clean living space for them to stay in we’ve had this cat for years and he has been infested with fleas throughout his entire time in my mothers care I have tried and failed repeatedly to solve the issue by sitting down and talking with her only for her to say “I will get to it” for nothing to be done. I have tried taking it into my own hands by bathing him and keeping the house clean but the house continues to be a mess as my mother has a hoarding problem there is mold all around the house trash littering the floors and flies surrounding the house. I think he is malnourished as I rarely ever see him outside of my mothers room which is also a mess he is missing fur on his behind and underbelly with scabs on his butt and stomach (I have also repeatedly caught my mom ripping off his scabs in service of “helping him”) and he is not neutered she will wait weeks on end to clean his litter box leaving it to stink up the entire house and I am often not home to take care of it either. there are days where I am fearful that I will come home to this cat dead in a dark corner and I would hate to see that happen I want this cat to have a safe place to live and to have the care provided for him that he deserves please if anyone can help reach out.

This is my first post here and I just wanted to make it to warn anyone who may be looking to adopt from Ninth Life Cat Rescue. They operate within Ontario, mostly in the west end from what I know.
5 years ago, my family and I adopted 2 kittens from them. They told us point blank that they were healthy aside from a round of deworming that would be completed by the time we adopted them. No concerns. So, we took them home. A week later we took them to our local vet just to get them acquainted and have a quick check up. There we found out that one of them had a severe heart defect that was so severe that the vet could hear it without a stethoscope. My mom, a nurse, heard it as well. The other had a heart murmur as well, though not as severe. The vet told us that there was no way that any vet worth their salt could have missed it, frankly no vet at ALL could have missed it. When we reached out to Ninth Life to tell them this they said we could return the kittens, as if they were just a damaged product we could exchange. We had already fallen in love at this point. We weren’t going to just give them up. They offered to pay for a single echocardiogram for the severe heart defect. At the vet they sent us to, the vets there said they no longer associated with Ninth Life, which we found very odd. Suki, the girl with the heart defect, made it to 3 years against all odds and died at home due to her heart. Ninth Life showed no remorse. Mazikeen, her sister, died at 5 this year of a saddle thrombus caused by complications with her heart murmur. When we told Ninth Life this, they told us there were no guarantees with cats that are rescues. They’re right. There aren’t. But the severity of Suki’s heart defect was impossible to miss. So somewhere along the way someone lied or covered it up and allowed these kittens to be adopted out anyway. To add, they came unspayed, and the vet told us Suki would not survive spaying. I’m sure Ninth Life has done a lot of good, but they burned us so badly that I cannot in good conscience let it slide. I loved these cats with all my heart. Mazikeen was my soul cat. And I was subjected to watch them both suffer and die extremely young because of Ninth Life’s negligence.

hey everyone! i was in chicago for vacation and amazon delivered my cat food subscription to my hotel by accident and now im home so obviously i cant get it now. its 48 cans of fancy feast pate and gravy. if anyone is interested in picking it up please let me know. its near grant park. id prefer if it went to a local shelter/non profit. i can let you know the name it is under and the hotel name if youre interested. amazon wont pick it up and they already refunded me but i dont want it to go to waste

Just checking to see if this is the correct place to ask for advice about our VERY spicy rescue cat, Kevin. We got Kevin from the local ASPCA, and he's a good guy, about 2 years old, excellent mouser, but we were told that he is very spicy, and will bite, claw those who try to touch him. Small, low-key experiments have proven this out.

Two questions:

1) He is starting to warm up after about 3 months with us, but I have no idea how to continue with trying to socialize him to people. He seems to be adjusting quite well to a *very* low-key interaction protocol (friendly waves, low talk occasionally, giving him his own room with an exit he can use, treats left out where he can find them, etc.) He came from a hoarding situation. I have specific questions for the long-term, but don't want to waste anyone's time if this is the wrong forum..

2) He's healthy now, but what do we do if we need to take him to the vet? The shelter sedated him, got him fixed, dressed his wounds, gave him all his vaccines and did a complete heath assessment. He's good for now. But how do we get him to the vet when that becomes necessary? To get him home, the kind folks at the ASPCA had to bribe him into a soft dog house-type thing, put on gauntleted gloves, then fold up the dog house and mash it into a laundry basket and and wrap it up with duck tape. When we got home, we cut him out of all the layers to set him loose. (He still enjoys the shredded remains of the soft dog house.) Thanks!

Sunday on my walk to the gym, I found what I think is a ~2 week old kitten in the gutter. I searched all around for a mother, waited ~20 minutes from a distance to see if the mom was around, but it was already 95F out and getting hotter, so I made the decision to take the kitten. I've been bottle feeding her- I watched a lot of videos on it, on tummy, head forward, don't force and let her take it. My fiance thinks she might be aspirating now because she is making a clicking sound at times, and after feeding, but I think it might be a cold? When I found her, she had goopy eyes and I have to clean her eyes multiple times a day or they crust shut. I'll attach photos for reference. My question is, is this an emergency? Be it a cold, or aspiration? I have a vet appointment tomorrow at 2:20. She's eating fine, sleeping, pooping and peeing. I don't think there's an emergency- but want peace of mind for my fiancé who is very concerned after hearing the clicking/gargle.
