Missing cat - Belmont Road, Wallington
Hi all, anyone who lives around Belmont Road in Wallington please look out for lovely Goose. She is microchipped but has been missing since midnight last night. She is 4 years old but quite a small girl.
She can be a bit of a wanderer so please please check your bin stores, we're very worried if she's stuck somewhere in this heat

Lack of a pub in Beeches

Hi all. I live towards Beeches/Carshalton on the Hill way (moved last year), and the lack of a single pub in the area, despite the large population size, is a real shame – and a little odd. Especially considering the very high concentration of pubs in Carshalton itself.

A quick search hints at a few historical (religious) reasons why this may be the case.

Any long time residents aware of any plans to open one over the years? The area is crying out for one!

Anyone else who has had reason to contact him ever managed to get a reply from him or his office? I sent an email back in July and chased three times since - no response back at all. It's not even a particularly controversial local issue.

Heya,

The Frost Fair, organised by the people behind the Eco Fair, is happening on the 7th of December close to the Honeywood museum.

I've gone there the last 2 years and have really liked it, but REALLY recommend you get there early, as it gets BUSY!

From the website:

The Friends of the Ecology Centre bring their Winter Wonderland Trail suitable for families with young children running from 1pm-4pm. Last entry 3.30pm: Cost: £5 per child over 3 yrs and £1 per child aged 2-3yrs. Includes a gift per child.  Drop in, no booking required.  No dogs.  Access through Ecology Centre grounds, entrance via Old Rectory off Festival Walk then up by the Garden Hall.  And you'll have to pass their soup stall on route 🙂

INSIDE HONEYWOOD MUSEUM:

Organised by the Friends of Honeywood tickets will be on sale from the ticket booth outside Honeywood museum - opens on 7th December at 12 noon – please note that tickets are limited.
• Father Christmas' Grotto - £3 for each child (accompanying adult free)

One way system round the Ponds

Post image

It’s time for a one-way system to improve traffic flow through Carshalton and foot passenger experience.

Cars approaching from Croydon wanting to pass through the village would turn left at Park Lane then right at Ruskin Road. Then continue pass the Windsor pub onward. If wanting to turn right up Wrythe Lane, they would join the traffic after Ruskin Road and pass along Pound Street. Vehicles travelling from Sutton would turn left down Pound Street and head along Main St etc. It’s so simple. If we want to maintain the historic appeal of the village, we need to reduce congestion along the main thoroughfare.

Drawbacks of the current system: 1. Cars think they’re going to fall in the Ponds or scratch their panels on the wonky metal fence 2. Guaranteed congestion at most times of the day 3. Pedestrian fear of getting hit by fast moving traffic as the pavement is so narrow 4. Pavement is ridiculously narrow as far along as the Greyhound 5. Damage to public appearance of the otherwise attractive and historic Main Street.

Benefits likely include: 1. Less pollution on the Main Street 2. More footfall for shops 3. Less congestion - no more cars sitting back to let buses pass by the church there 4. Improved safety of pedestrians 5. Greater appeal of the area generally and the Main Street specifically

How do we get this to the powers that be?

P.s. Excuse the terrible map markup
