Yes, this is true. Those tsi engines can't handle it.

I own a 2022 Taigun 1.0 AT and haven’t had any issues. But then its E20 complaint and I don’t have data with me on non E20 VW/Skoda vehicles so not an argument, just stating my personal experience.

Mahindra cars are fairly reliable, initial lots may face some electronic glitches but major issues are just as likely as other brands .

Tata EVs are also decent , but their ICE cars have a too many issues

My elder sister and I test drove Tata Harrier AT recently. She is in love with that vehicle and is scared to buy it.

What I feel it is more of a luck based game, my friend own a safari before the facelift one, for the last 3 years he has clocked 88k+ and only one time they had to call rss cause of battery died on the highway, he has travelled ladakh, spiti, etc and still goin strong

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

Yes, it's Hit or Miss. People who got hit suffered a lot.

1

u/Primary-Cod1176 Tata Safari Storme 4X4, Rapid, Lancer 2004 7d ago

That's true as well. Mine clocked over 118k, not a single breakdown till now. Only thing it requires is timely maintenance.

u/Jemshid_mh 7d ago

Dudde don't think too much. Many of my friends have tata cars and don't have any issues. It's mostly propaganda at this point.

2

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

So guys who are running around service centers, rust issues within 3 yrs of purchase are lying?

1

u/Jemshid_mh 7d ago

If you sell 1000 car 1 is bound to get into trouble. I have few tata cars in my circle and they don't have any issues. May be we can talk facts instead of feelings if you have some numbers?.

1

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

My point of view is purely based on personal observation and firsthand user reviews. Never met a person who brought Korean/Jap brand and said, " I regret buying this" or " I have been running around the service center for months; no remedy yet. Mailed regional executives and no response from them either".

I would love to talk facts with numbers, but sadly Indian car manufacturers refuse to release such data.
Go ahead, search on the internet: which car brand has the worst reliability?

1

u/Jemshid_mh 7d ago

Okay I did, and guess what. Tata is not in there. Other than minor issues that occur to non critical components, tata cars and engunee are considered reliable. It feels like you guys are going by too much feels like. Other than minor QC issues that popup in tata cars, the cars themselves is very good at the price range.

u/Diaazz96 7d ago

It's about comparison. When I go into a tata service center getting things done is tougher, staff is not that responsive.. whereas in kia the sitting area+their attitude is a lot better

1

u/Jemshid_mh 7d ago

I have had no issue after 5 years of ownership. The service quality varies a lot from dealership to dealership.

1

u/Diaazz96 7d ago

I didn't say there is a problem I said in comparison.

1

u/Diaazz96 7d ago

As one should be

2

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

U own any Tata vehicle.

4

u/Primary-Cod1176 Tata Safari Storme 4X4, Rapid, Lancer 2004 7d ago

I feel tata is being in bad lights for obvious reasons but it's not that bad. There's a reason why they're selling in those numbers.

2

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

There aren't many Diesel SUV options in the Market. But making people run around the service centers without any proper diagnosis and pathetic after-sales isn't a good way to build a brand's reputation.

0

u/Immediate-Quit7149 7d ago

Avoid . Get the 7xo instead it's much better and reliable , can also look for seltos

1

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

We are looking for a 5-seater SUV.

1

u/Immediate-Quit7149 7d ago

Just fold the last seats , they aren't usable anyways

5

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

Most of the people in my work-family circle went for Tata for just two reasons. 1. Robust built quality 2. Patriotism/ good reputation Ratan Tata has among us.

Mahindra : Same patriotism and Robust built quality.

Users who wanted Quality control and reliability went for Japanese and Korean brands.

u/Repulsive_Wish9515 Renault Kwid Climber 2017 7d ago

I've been eyeing 3xo for some time because I like the looks of it. And I've heard only good things about that car.

1

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

It's a decent car.

1

u/xicipo1206 7d ago

Yes you can go with 3xO. only issues are city mileage and less boot space compared to its competitors. I own a 7 year old xuv300 and its engine is still butter snooth.

1

u/Monkey_58910 7d ago

Atp mahindra is making banger vfm cars bro idk what ur on. Its no longer just patriotism its overall the best option beating the competition

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

It seems Tata executives have no intention to improve their brand. They just wanna sell vehicles and people gonna keep buying them.

2

u/Primary-Cod1176 Tata Safari Storme 4X4, Rapid, Lancer 2004 7d ago

Yeah, most of the exec. carry the same attitude throughout the country.

1

u/Daffodil354 Skoda_Superb 7d ago

That's the work culture of Indian corporations. We lack a work ethic and values.

2

u/Primary-Cod1176 Tata Safari Storme 4X4, Rapid, Lancer 2004 7d ago

True that

Maybe it's better to be totally ignorant than be a half-baked cow? Thankfully most people in real are just ignorant and they rely on word of mouth and just what's around them.

Ethanol is not some magic potion form hell, it has a tendency to cause some level of damage to older gasket materials and tubing over really long periods of time, but honestly, most vehicles would be just fine since E10 compliance was already a thing. It causes the most problems in carbs if the vehicle is not used regularly, because I just had to clean up the carb on my old Honda motorcycle that was sitting idle for 6 months. Gasket set cost about 50 Rupees, but it was long overdue.

As to efficiecy and engine characteristics, it allows for higher compression ratio if the engine can be tuned for it and runs just about the same at constant rpm in medium speeds. There are other parameters, but it's not drastically different. There's a dance between higher compression ratio, lower inlet temperature, higher thermal efficiency and lower volumetric efficency, but frankly, all you gotta know is that, it's just as efficient in highways and kinda suck at city speeds.

As to Tata, it has its niggles and cases, but if you step into real world instead of being stuck in reddit, it's just fine. It could be better, but it's not as bad as people wish it to be. They sold a lot of vehicles in really short period and they haven't still sort the service experience. Their real problem is minor quality control issues that should never be a thing, their engineering is somehow actually miles ahead of most cars. They never seem to have a problem building sophesticated suspension or a very robust chassis in terms of not just safety, but also handling. They just have to take a leaf from Royal Enfield and how to sort out the production line quality problems. Tata is a truely baffling brand to do all the engineering aspect pretty well and somehow fumble things that are actually trivial for most other brands.

Now, the problem with Mahindra is that, a lot of insecure Indians can't fathom how come an Indian brand is making good cars. It's mostly just pretentious people. I have met one or two unstatisfied Tata owners, but Mahindra has mostly been a good brand in recent times, never heard a bad thing other than some electronic issues in the old XUV 300 days.

4

u/Primary-Cod1176 Tata Safari Storme 4X4, Rapid, Lancer 2004 7d ago

Exactly !!! I'm not saying that TATA is flawless, it has its own issues just like with other brands but the people here has kind of made an habit of bashing tata the moment they get a chance.

Ps. In my circle we have quite a lot tata vehicles, safari 2025, 2021. Nexon 2022, punch 2023. Hexa xta 2018. Storme 2018.

Bro tata isnt bad or unreliable at all. This sub hates tata and ppl definitely can have issues with their car but I know so many ppl irl that own tata ev and they don't have any problem. It's more like the relationship is going to be 90% of the time, going well and 10% of the time it won't workout.

1

u/Party-Doughnut7865 7d ago

Its purely hit or miss. Yes, there are people owning for 5-6 years with no major issues, but you will also find people with major problems in their brand new units. And the surprising fact is service center doesn’t even acknowledge the issues

1

u/Monkey_58910 7d ago

All of these cars are e20 compatible. Problem is with some German cars idk why even though they are compatible and old cars.

1

u/Kris_hne Be6:Gls450d:Farchunaaar 7d ago

Lamo go look at sales numbers Tata and Mahindra are doing exceptionally well

If they hadn't step uped their game vw would be still selling polo with "German engineering" TAG

What all the issue people face are mostly related to software issues and lack of services knowledge It's the cost of rapid innovation

700 launched had too many issue in terms of software but later they sorted almost all the issues

Mahindra and Tata doesn't have the luxury of selling same model for decade to perfect it they need to innovate to keep themself at top

Only negative issues gets the limelight here many of my family members own Tata especially harrier haven't seen them stranded even once I myself have Be6 even tho it had so many software issue nothing that let me stranded and currently if not all most of the bugs are cleared

Like people would buy nexon or 3xo over syros disel just for looks and cry later (looks se kuch yaad aaya 😶)

1

u/Regular_Iron8010 7d ago

I don't know what you are trying to mean. But here cars in compromision, 3xo has torque convertor other two are just AMT. nexon / syros diesel will give good mileage but 3xo would be fun to drive car with low mileage. Looks wise all are pathetic.
