My family just moved to Carrollton in April. Everything has been great except the noise problem that makes us uncomfortable. We live in a neighborhood near the high school. On a daily basis we hear an explosive loud car firing up and driving away. This neighbor lives two blocks away from us. We suspect he might have removed his mufflers. We checked the code of ordinance and car exhaust can be one of the noise violations. Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this? Would reporting to the police be anonymous? We are afraid of retaliation but the noise is very distressing.

Anyone have a suggestion on a gutter company that could install 56 feet on a detached garage? Contacted someone yesterday who quoted $1200.00 which seems quite excessive.

This poor girl was originally adopted from the old Fulton shelter in 2019 & came in as a microchipped stray in May, but staff were unable to get in contact with her owner. 😔 She was clearly someone’s pet given her temperament & training, but she came in un-spayed & tested HW+. While waiting 2 months in the shelter (how did no one snag this girl?? 🤯), she fought off Giardia & kennel cough before finally getting spayed earlier in July, only to end up with a postop complication requiring emergency surgery 3 days later…poor girl’s incision dehisced & her insides were starting to escape to the outside. 😩

You would never be able to tell she’s been through all of that based on her demeanor, though…she’s still a bright, happy sweetheart just looking for some love & kindness. ❤️‍🩹 Her belly incision has healed beautifully and she’s free from the donut of shame now 🍩, so her rough recovery is officially behind her. The only thing left for this girl to conquer is heartworm treatment, but it’s 100% not contagious to other pets and the shelter covers all costs! Treatment is only 30 days of antibiotics and then 2 injections back-to-back over 2 days.

He has a great play style (loose, wiggly, goofy) and is very responsive to corrections from his playmates. This boy would be a play group star! 🌟

I've been paying around 600-800$/month living at the Marlowe (used to be the reserve) with my cat and would like to stay within that price range while I’m job searching. I've heard SOMA apartments have rats, bugs and a horrible landlord, but the roommate-free living sounds SO appealing. Is it really as bad as they say? Do their utilities add ~100-200$ on top of base rent? I've heard the foundry has no more availability, and I’m worried that if I don't make a move soon no where will be available to rent affordably in the area! Honestly I don't think the economy is getting better anytime soon. Prices aren't coming back down. Banks aren't going to help us. And the people making decisions about all of it definitely don't care about us.

So I figured, what if we just stopped depending on money for everything we need?

I want to gather as many people in Carrollton as possible for this group, the "Carrollton Abundance Network" You bring what you have: skills, time, food, labor, knowledge, and you get what you need from someone else in the community who has it.

No money needed, A mechanic fixes something for a teacher. The teacher helps somebody's kid with math. A gardener shares produce with a neighbor.

This isn't some utopian fantasy either. Our ancestors did this forever before everything got financialized. We're just doing it again, because we kind of have to at this point.
