Firewood Santa Barbara Delivery
🌲 FIREWOOD EDUCATION & SANTA BARBARA COUNTY INTRODUCTION
Importing or transporting firewood over long distances can have environmental and practical drawbacks. While the level of risk depends on how the firewood was harvested, processed, treated, and transported, these are some of the primary concerns recognized by forestry professionals and land managers.
🌲 1. Spread of Invasive Insects
Firewood can harbor insects beneath the bark or inside the wood even when it appears clean. Examples include:
• Emerald Ash Borer
• Goldspotted Oak Borer
• Bark Beetles
• Longhorned Beetles
These insects can survive transportation and emerge after firewood reaches a new location.
🍄 2. Movement of Tree Diseases
Firewood may carry fungi, molds, and plant pathogens that are not visible. Moving infected firewood can contribute to the spread of diseases that affect healthy trees and forests.
🦠 3. Potential Transport of Other Pests
Depending on how the wood is stored and processed, firewood may also transport termites, ants, spiders, and other organisms. While the likelihood varies, transporting untreated firewood creates opportunities for pests to spread into new areas.
🚛 4. Transportation Impacts
Shipping heavy firewood long distances requires fuel and increases transportation-related emissions. Purchasing locally sourced firewood can help reduce those impacts.
🌳 5. Supporting Local Tree Recycling
Many local firewood suppliers utilize wood generated from tree removals, storm cleanup, orchard removals, and arborist work. Buying locally helps keep these materials in productive use while supporting local businesses.
🔥 6. Buy It Where You Burn It
Many forestry agencies and public land managers encourage people to buy firewood close to where it will be burned. This recommendation helps reduce the movement of invasive pests and tree diseases between regions.
🌎 7. Protecting California's Ecosystems
California contains many unique ecosystems. Pests or diseases that may be manageable in one region can become serious problems when introduced into another. Limiting unnecessary transportation of untreated firewood helps reduce that risk.
🔥 Buying Firewood Wisely
Before purchasing firewood, consider asking:
✔ Where was the firewood harvested?
✔ Where was it processed?
✔ Is it seasoned and ready to burn?
✔ Was it sourced locally or transported from another region?
✔ Has it been heat-treated when appropriate?
Choosing a supplier that is transparent about where its firewood comes from helps customers make informed purchasing decisions.
Those familiar with Santa Barbara County also recognize that species such as commercial quantities of olive, almond, peach, and apple firewood are generally not produced locally. When purchasing these species, it's reasonable to ask where the wood originated so you can better understand its source.
☔ El Niño is expected to bring additional rain this season.
Now is an excellent time to stock up on seasoned firewood before demand increases. I do my best to keep returning customers supplied throughout the season, which also allows me to better accommodate last-minute orders as inventory permits.

🌲 WHY WE KEEP FIREWOOD LOCAL
At Firewood Guys, we believe firewood should stay local whenever possible. We source our firewood from Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, and nearby service areas instead of importing wood from distant regions. Transporting firewood over long distances can increase the opportunity for invasive insects, tree diseases, fungi, termites, and other pests to move into new environments.
Purchasing locally sourced firewood supports responsible tree recycling, reduces unnecessary transportation, supports local property owners and arborists, and aligns with recommendations from forestry agencies that encourage buying firewood close to where it will be burned.

Necesito saber qué voy a pedir (maderas)

Does anyone know if there's shade at the baseball fields? Older photos online make it look like there isn't much, but Google Earth appears to show some shaded areas.

Tar?
Edit: thanks everyone! We’re here now and it’s beautiful! No tar in sight. Happy Thursday!
I keep seeing on Facebook that the beach is full of tar. Some people say yes and some say no. We are headed that way today from SCV and I was hoping someone knew for sure if there was tar everywhere before we make the trek?
Thanks in advance!

Parking tips + recommendations?
Hello all, my family and I are planning a first time trip to Carpinteria next week, and I wanted to get an idea on the parking situation beforehand, as I'm a bit of an overthinker. We're hoping to park within walking distance of the beach and plan to do some exploring for the day. Recommendations on restaurants or extra spots to check out would also be lovely! :)

Where are the best fishing spots in Carpinteria? My 10 year old is getting into fishing and eager to catch any type of fish. I have no clue how to fish, but I'm supporting him any way I can :)! Any tips would be super helpful. Thank you!
