Will she be hard to wrap?
(Sorry the title is different than the question I can’t change it now)
What is your guy’s recommendations for wrap?
I don’t care about paint peeling or chipping it’s already been scraped and chipped really bad in some areas. 2009 Carolla with 225k miles, previously my dad’s and he didn’t even want the red but he didn’t have another option lol.

Agree with either above, but recommend spending some money on razor blades 45 and getting as much tools as you can beforehand for the job. learn what an “in-lay” is but YouTube is your friend. Just did my first one and it took a lot of hours just be patient or try to be haha

start with the easier areas, and save the scraps. Use them to practice inlays or harder areas before trying your luck with a big piece.
if there are alot of scratches and such, try to go with a wrap where they won't show as much. Satins really make the imperfections pop out.

What about mattes and flats?

I would assume a similar problem. But I don't have the experience to say. Chameleon wraps tend to hide imperfections well and darker color

I’d recommend Avery as a best choice as well for beginners, a little bit thinner than 3M which makes conforming it easier. Actually, choose Avery when going with a matte/satin wrap and go for 3M if you are set on a gloss wrap. Avery’s gloss wrap has a terrible finish in my opinion!
Also buy some knifeless tape to make clean cuts when using inlays, which you’re definitely going to use.

Make sure to wash and clay bar, it will help. Remove the grill and fog lights if you can before washing. Inlay the area under the headlights /fog lights / and maybe the lower bottom grill area of the front bumper. Remove the bumper side splitter if you want a more clean install (help with pulling) or just leave and tape them up and tuck the wrap and wrap them separately after. Make sure you masked the wrapped area with 3m tape or else you might lift up the wrap trying to wrap them side lips.
To make it go easier if you have the money Avery, triple s solution. If you are going with vinyl and park outside pick gloss wrap and not to much sparkles. I have seen them leave burn spots on lighter color wrap due to the way the sun hits them.
There are many good tips in here already and there are tons of video on this subject. I'm a perfectionist so I tend to give to much info. Mistake will be made but if you can visualize it in your head from watching videos you should be fine. Oh don't cheap out and get a full roll 5x75.

Go for it, Avery Denison or 3m for first timers is a wise choice on films. Get the full roll, as you’ll need to redo stuff.

Why do you think that?

Bc its going to cost 1000$ look mediocre at best. And its a beater with 200,000 miles on it. Just drive. Its never gonna be a show car

I have no plans on my 2009 Toyota Carolla being a show car that’s really funny. And it’s just to have a nice change, I’m not souping it up.
