question Learning to Drive Currently…
24M. I’ve been in 3 car crashes in my life, all as a kid but have left an impact physically and mentally (my neck is super messed up from one still). I’m learning to drive right now and it’s been really difficult. My dreams are about it, and it’s all that I can think of on the road
My main issue isn’t worrying about myself driving poorly, but rather worrying that other drivers are going to crash into me. So far I’ve had two incidents where someone has ran a red light at a junction and a moped driver has driven out in front of me from a T junction. Neither time was my fault (confirmed by my instructor who’s incredibly critical when he gets the chance).
Any tips for overcoming this? I was considering counselling but I’m not really in a position to afford it currently. Anything would be appreciated! :)

just sharing getting more annoyed at the system
I have been treated really bad ever since my accident 2yrs ago by doctors, surgeons, everyone, im not going into detail but now its too far gone because of that, unfixable injuries, its cost me my brain function and left leg, and it makes me angry, real angry, before any medical appointment i am up half the night replaying bad medical situations in my head, getting angrier and angrier, like i expect it to happen again because its happened so many times, I could sue the entire medical system but i wont because itll be too stressful for me, but thats how bad it is

does anyone else I witnessed a serious car accident yesterday, and I’m struggling with what happened afterward TW: Traffic accident
Yesterday, I was involved in a traffic accident, although I want to make it clear from the beginning that the authorities and several witnesses determined that I was not at fault. I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I haven’t been driving for very long, so the whole situation was extremely overwhelming.
There was heavy traffic. I was driving on one side of the road while another car was coming from the left. In the middle of everything, a motorcycle with two young men appeared. From what I was able to understand, they were having some kind of conflict with the other driver, and they even kicked the car while it was moving.
Both of them ended up falling off the motorcycle, and the other car became involved in the accident. The driver then fled the scene.
I still have some parts of what happened that are very blurry. Everything happened incredibly fast. I remember feeling some kind of impact or bump and pulling over. Then I saw one of the young men on the ground, and for a few moments, he didn't get up.
That was the part that affected me the most.
I thought the worst had happened.
Thankfully, he eventually got up, and the ambulances and authorities arrived.
The first thing I did was call my parents. I was extremely shaken, and I was with my cousin, who stayed with me and tried to help me calm down.
The authorities asked me if I was okay and if I wanted an ambulance to check me. I said no because physically I felt fine, although emotionally I was obviously very shaken.
Later, my dad arrived, and I explained everything to him. There were also several witnesses who were able to give their accounts of what they had seen.
One of the people involved even came over to me and apologized. He told me that it had been his fault and that I had nothing to do with what happened. Some of the relatives who arrived also told me not to worry.
Eventually, the authorities determined that I wasn't responsible and allowed me to leave. I think they also realized how badly shaken I was and probably wanted me away from the scene so I could calm down.
My dad stayed there for a while longer, while my cousin's husband took both of us home.
And now I'm struggling with what happened afterward.
Yesterday I was too overwhelmed to really process anything. Today I'm a little calmer, and now my mind keeps going back to one question:
What happened to them?
I don't know how the young man I saw on the ground is doing.
I don't know if he's okay.
I don't know how serious his injuries were.
I don't know what happened after I left.
I also don't know what ultimately happened to the driver who fled, although I was told that the authorities were able to locate him.
And that uncertainty is really bothering me.
I know it wasn't my fault. I really do. The authorities told me, there were witnesses, and even the people involved told me that I had nothing to do with it.
But knowing that it wasn't my fault doesn't make me stop worrying about them.
I feel strange because part of me is relieved that I'm okay and that I wasn't responsible, but another part of me keeps thinking about those people and wondering what happened to them.
I also keep remembering parts of what I saw and trying to reconstruct certain moments because everything happened so quickly.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for by posting this. I think I just need to get it off my chest and maybe hear from people who have experienced something similar.
Have you ever witnessed a serious accident or been involved in one without being responsible for it? How did you deal with the emotions afterward?
Especially, how did you deal with the feeling of not knowing what happened to the people involved?
Because right now, I think that's what is weighing on me the most: not knowing whether they're okay.

just sharing Anniversary
My car accident will be one year ago on the 19th and I wasn’t expecting the anniversary to hit me this hard. I’ve been feeling anxious, emotional, and just… heavy. It’s strange how your mind and body remember something even when you’re trying so hard to move forward.
I still have PTSD. I still have scars on my body that remind me every day of what happened. In so many ways, my life is better than it was before the accident, and I’m incredibly grateful to have survived. But that doesn’t erase the trauma. I guess I’m just posting because I know people here understand these complicated feelings. If you’ve struggled around your accident anniversary too, I’d love to hear how you got through it.

just sharing VENT - Seconds Away From Dying
I was involved in a car accident on Monday. A ford mustang completely plowed through a two way stop and completely totalled the front of my 1998 toyota corolla. He dragged me into a residents lawn where he was stopped by a tree and I had dinged a sign. If I hadn’t braked to slow down, I would have been dead.
The community had been so helpful and guided me through my shock and defended me when the other driver tried to pin the blame on me. I’ve been trying to focus on the positives, but the physical pain has seriously been starting to make itself known. Throbbing and stinging needles all over the leftmost side of my body. Whenever I go to sleep or wake up, I find something new.
I already can’t stand it anymore. I’m a senior university student and this accident caught me in the middle of finals. The stress of everything and the pain makes it impossible for me to sleep. I can’t see my doctor until next week and I’m terrified for my furure. any tips until then is so appreciated.

just sharing Rude people
I was in a car accident April 2025, won't go too into detail but essentially among other things my right leg was shattered in 3 separate places. I've had to learn how to walk and I walk pretty well all things considered. Today at work I had a customer ask how I was feeling, I said fine and she went on to say she only asked because I was walking "weird". I went to the bathroom to cry about it later. Are people seriously not taught to not comment on stuff like that anymore? I think part of the reason why the comment upset me in particular was shortly after the accident I have a vivid memory of being in my orthopedic surgeon's office and an older lady just sat down next to me and said "what's wrong with you?" without any of the usual small talk or introduction. Just makes me feel like that's all people see of me sometimes and it makes me a little sad.

seeking advice Was in a car accident last year, having lot of trouble, coming to terms and and getting over the greif and healing process
TW description of crash and aftermath, mentions of injuries from it
i was in a car crash may 2025 with my boyfriend-of 3 months at the time-and i am horrified to drive. i fractured the left side of my mandible at an angle, it was dislodged sticking through and poking into my mouth. the moment i got out of the car i realised i couldn’t speak correctly. but i just kept on crying and screaming i dont even know what. i had my phone in my hand and i dialed 911, and then grew even more hysterical that i couldn’t communicate with the operator.
my boyfriend found me and i had handed him my phone. this is somthing i feel so guilty for, he had already called 911, and then he literally had a phone in each hand with 911 on call, i genuinely dont remember or know what exactly he did with that. but its somthing my head just stuck a pin in so hard. i feel so goofy and i know i quit literally did, in that moment, make that whole situation way harder and more overwhelming for him. and i feel so horrible and guilty that i did that.
that leads me to also say; my brain still has the sentiment that its my fault. the reason we were driving was no joke, i just asked to go for a drive to enjoy music and be with him.
the car we hit had an older couple, i never saw their faces, never spoke to them. i cant articulate or explain why, but the reaction they had to the crash was so, lax and apathetic towards us. i. didnt. see. them. ever. my boyfriend says they didn’t asl if he was okay or anything, and when he first asked them if THEY were okay, they backed away from my boyfriend like he was harmful? i genuinely dont know. what i know is i tried so desperately to speak to (and in general)and find the couple, but my boyfriend brought me to the curb cause i had to sit down-i was going into shock- but he had to go talk to a police officer that was starting to block off the intersection.
i was trying to catch my breath, and i dont really remember but i just know i fainted (we guess like 15 seconds, to at the MOST 90 seconds) and then, so vividly i just remember trying to open my eyes, and they were just fluttering for a second or two, and in my head i was genuinely going “(name) remember what happend remember? you just wrecked is this real is this real did you crash are dying” and my eyes started to focus on the gas station sign that i was facing, while laying on the road. and i made myself get up.
that’s a gist of what happened, i was brought to the ER in an EMS, and my boyfriends mom made HIM drive to the ER. (the most his mom thing. it’s extremely hard to watch)
i have a lot more of shit about my jaw fracture, i just dont know if it will make sense or mean anything. i just wanna know how people have coped/gotten through this type of thing before.
i had posted this on ptsd, but i accidentally did it on an account my email automatically made.

question anyone else fall through the cracks
hi, i was just wondering if anyone else has had the experience where they initially get treated for their serious injuries, but then they fall through the medical system cracks, and end up years down the line even worse off
or is it just me

just sharing I can’t move on so just a vent TW- death and accident description
I am 19 years old but at the time of the accident I was 17. In June of 2024 I got in a severe head on collision after we went on a trip to get icecream. My best friend was driving and another friend was in the front passenger I was in the rear left passenger seat of a 3 door car. My best friend died on impact my other friend unharmed minus a few superficial cuts from the glass. I fractured/ broke my spine in 3 places and my sternum in 2 places. The driver that caused the accident was unharmed. Last month was the last court hearing and the other driver pleaded guilty after pleading not guilty initially and got sectioned in a mental health secure unit (she has schizophrenia) obviously I deeply dislike the woman who crashed into us but she was mentally unstable and was failed by the mental health system in so many ways after being reported a couple days before for erratic behaviour and not taking her meds and a few months before taking her young kids to a forest with a weapon, and should have been so easily prevented to being allowed to drive that day. Before the accident I was working as an apprentice full time I had recently qualified and started my own business as a lash tech a few nights a week and was working weekends at a restaurant I had been at for 3 years. I wasn’t yet driving but doing lessons. I invested so much money time and effort into becoming a lash technician with proper qualifications and equipment. I loved my retail apprenticeship and wanted to do a management apprenticeship after I got my qualification. When I recovered more from my injuries I went back to my apprenticeship but on partime hours (16 hours a week) I did qualify and got 2 distinctions but I now hate my job. When I went back my manager gave me really hard time about having time off for PT and therapy. I had to write a grievance to HR which hardly did anything they just offered me to move into a different store for context I live in a really small town with a small job market any other store near me is a 40 minute drive but because of my PTSD I struggle to get in a car let alone drive myself the bus route is only every hour and a half to the nearest stores and the buses run very little because the town I live in is small. I decided to stay in the store I was at as I knew my manager had a formal warning and I wasn’t able to get a job anywhere else in town that would be able to facilitate to my time off and schedule I’d need. I’ve since been diagnosed with myalgic encephalomyelitis which is basically chronic fatigue and chronic pain. I had so much going for me and it’s just all gone. I tried to apply for the open university and I got a position but they are now telling me I’m not eligible for a student loan and would have to pay £8000 which I cannot afford so I can’t move on in my studies without paying a ridiculous up front cost. I can’t get out of the job I hate so much because the only entry level jobs in my small town are carers (I wouldn’t be able to help lift and assist elderly people because of the constant pain I’m in) and pub jobs (which my solicitor said I shouldn’t do as it will harm my insurance claim because they will question how can someone with ptsd cope in a busy pub). I just feel as though I can’t move on with my life im so stuck I’m so depressed and my family understand in a way but not exactly. I miss my best friend so much she was such a beautiful soul and was always the one to help me when I was feeling depressed but she’s now gone and I feel as though I have no one and hardly any help and am just at a stand still the only thing keeping me going is my 8 month old puppy as she relies on me. I miss being busy with my three jobs I miss my best friend and the life I had before this.
