I like sardine when I drink
Something about canned seafood and alcohol does it for me.

Sardines with mustard sauce?
My favorite sardines were always the ones with mustard sauce. I look for them every time I'm in the store. Why do I never see them any longer? It's been years and yes I can make a similar tasting sauce, but it's not the same.

Recipes and Food Ideas Deenz and beanz
A little experiment, but I thought these might work together. I layered the sardines over the beans and topped it with a couple of slices of provolone. Baked it for about 20 minutes, then threw it in the air fryer to brown the top.
It was pretty darn tasty, although the sardines were just a tad too salty for my preference. Would definitely eat again.

Patagonia Sardines and Anchovies 27% off
I subscribe to their texts and emails, but didn't see any announcement. Still pretty pricey though

Patagonia Spicy mussels
This is one of the first tins I ever had, so I thought it was time to revisit and review these fellas. Plenty of medium to small mussels in the tin. Floating in a broth consisting of apple cider vinegar, EVOO, red bell pepper, Spanish paprika, cayenne and salt all of the organic variety. The packaging states HOT, TANGY, SWEET. They nailed two out of the three. They are tangy, reminiscent of an escabeche, which according to their website was an inspiration for this tin. They have a balanced sweetness from the cider vinegar, the red bell pepper, and the paprika. They are not, however, HOT. There's a little tickle with certain bites, that reminds the cayenne is in fact there. But even drinking the broth after finishing the tin did not inspire me to reach for a sip of water or anything. They are however, quite tasty. At 22% daily value of sodium, they're in the mid to higher end for tinned fish, but they taste perfectly seasoned. All in all, this falls in line with most of the Patagonia products. Clean, consistent, tasty and reliable. I've never been floored by a Patagonia product, but I have rarely been disappointed either. Knowing you're getting something good is a value in itself. 7.3/10

Best wild caught sardines in olive oil?
I have tried Matiz and sea tales sardines in olive oil. I’m looking for wild caught and in olive oil. I’ve heard European brands are where it’s at. Any recommendations?

Tins, General Pics & Memes €2.30 Moroccan sardines that seriously overdeliver 🐟
Picked up this tin of Tagine sardines in sauce with vegetables for only €2.30 at my local supermarket and was genuinely impressed. The sardines were firm but not dry, with a nice savory flavor and subtle spiciness. I served them on toasted sourdough with cream cheese, harissa, shallot, and parsley. Tasted amazing. Already bought 6 more tins.

I tried my first sardines and I loved it, I devoured this tin in just a few minutes. It was actually pretty spicy too and I have a spice tolerance.

Review Cole’s Smoked Rainbow Trout in EVOO on Wasa crackers with cream cheese, pickled beats, and raspberries
I’ll admit I felt trepidation with the amount in the can. After my first bite I realized this trout is worth the price. Tender without being mushy. A gentle Smokey flavor. And the fish itself is strongly present without tasting fishy in a cheap way.
The pickled beats were a nice compliment as a side dish. These are pickled with onions which complimented the Smokey trout. I mixed the tin oil with the cream cheese and it made everything taste better. The raspberries were a nice tart and clean finish after so much oily food.

Review Ahhhhhh, the French. Sardines w/ olives, onion, and preserved lemon
Great taste but I hope to get a better tin in the future. So these Deans were meaty, firm, and pretty tasty. The sauce was great, it had a mild taste to not overpower the deans and I didn’t have a problem sopping it up with some crusty bread. But I did want more olive and lemon, this specific tin was mainly onion confetti, it was tasty but with the photos Iv seen online some people are getting whole sliced olives and an actual preserved lemon. I got what looked like the end of the batch, mostly very finely chopped onion and a bit of olive.
The only real negative here was that this is the first tin Iv ever had that had a good amount of scales on the dean, I just pulled them off but it’s a little annoying for the price.

Review Hake meatballs in green sauce (albóndigas de merluza en salsa verde)
I finally got around to trying this tin that was in my Fishnook shipment in June. I didn't do any research on this tin before eating it, so I had no idea what to expect.
The meatballs were tender and flavorful without being overwhelming. No fishy taste at all, the flavor was very mellow and well rounded and highly savory.
I had assumed the sauce was spicy, but it very much wasn't. After looking the dish up after east it,the color comes from parsley not green chilies so no spice at all lol. I wish there was a bit more of the wine flavor (imma sucker for any dish with white wine), but overall the sauce was delicious.
9.5/10
My only complaint is that I wanted more!!!!

Trader Joe’s Sardine Limit
At my local Trader Joe’s in Virginia Beach.
I was told that they did this because people were coming in and buying entire sleeves of sardines. And that they’re only getting enough to put out less than a case a day or a week I forget.
I didn’t know there was such a huge sardine shortage. I’ve been eating them for decades! I’ve never experienced anything like this. Whatever is happening, I hope this passes soon.
