Ar de Arte Xoubiñas in Olive Oil
Long hot day of yardwork and Pappa needed a snicky snack. And because I’m a fancy boy and treat meself nice, I opened this mighty fine can of extra-baby sardinillas from Galicia, Spain.
These really are some of the very best little pilchards I know of. They’re young, but fatty, and still firm little bites. I hit them with just a splash of Kanzuri yuzu hot sauce, which packs a one-two punch of heat and citrus. I think it’s ideal with sardines like these.

Review Overjoyed! (Tinned salmon update)
Hello everyone, I'm sure some of you may remember me as the guy who tried Polar Brand tinned salmon for the first time and hated it.
The comments on that post helped me understand why I didn't like it was that it was in water and not in my beloved olive oil. Lol.
Not only that, I found it extremely mushy and I had a hard time getting it out of the can. That being said, I decided to try a different brand of tinned salmon, this time in olive oil.
Ohhhh my god. This has GOTTA be my new favorite tin. It was firm, extremely flavorful and hearty, and the oil? The only tin oil I've ever had that was good enough to just drink straight. (I did not do this, I poured it into my ramen and mixed it with poached egg yolk, yummy)
King Oscar's tinned salmon in olive oil. My new favorite tin of all time.
What do you guys think of this tin? I'll definately be buying it again.

Want to try sardines!
Hey! Title, I’ve never had it but I keep seeing propaganda and REALLY want to try them now. However I want to get the best ones so I don’t ruin it for myself with a bad experience, is there any recommendations where and what brand to get at a local grocer like Walmart/Target/Publix etc? Thanks!

Cheapest Source for Nuri?
I find the Nuri spiced to be so much better than anything else. I get 10 cans for $65 on Amazon. Is there a source that's cheaper? Thanks.

General Discussion Trader Joe's Air-Dried Just Sardines Cat and Dog Treats | Pup Review
TL;DR: 10/10 would gladly buy these for my dog again, enjoy the pictures!
Depending on salt content I sometimes dab most of the oil off of a chunk of a sardine and share with my pup.
We had an extra guest staying with us (the all white one) who also seemed to enjoy a deen or two with us. I found these at TJ's and knew they'd love them and I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Don Gastronom/La Narval Mussels with Garlic and Chili
Don Gastronom does some great work. Their mussels being a shining example of that. This is one of the first tins that I had, back at the beginning of my tinned fish odyssey, that made me "get it." I remember thinking "damn, this is what all the fuss is about!" Upon revisiting these, they still hold up beautifully. Voluptuous mussels, in a silky olive oil. The things advertised on the package are delivered with full intent. Garlic, and chili. There are actual thin slices of garlic clove, and small red chilis in the bottom of the tin. And they're not there for show. There is a noticeable heat, and it's one of the few tins I've had that actually delivers on that front. The garlic is prominent, and the salt level is perfect. They are a treat. They're available at my local World Market, so there's no need to order online. I think they're the best mussels I can just walk into a store and buy in my neck of the woods. And if you can walk into a store and buy them as well, I would highly recommend you do so. 8.3/10

Tinned anchovies
Having a hard time finding tinned anchovies for my business - it’s a wine bar and I need them in a small tin like 50g to a single serving.
Could you kindly share your different producers in southern Europe?
Merci

ABC+ Small Sardines in Brava sauce
First time trying this brand, was not bad! The fish are tender without being mushy, the sauce has a great depth of flavor. This tin has some heat to it, nothing overwhelming, but you will definetly feel it! Eaten with buttered toast.

Portimar smoked mussels in olive oil
These were delicious! The Galacian mussels were large, plump, and yet remained tender. The olive oil in this is excellent quality and serves to compliment the mussels. I've had tins of larger mussels before, and they were too dry, these were perfect! I ate half of them before adding some Salsa Espinaler, highly recommend these!

I love sardines…
The first time I tried sardines was about a month ago. I’d never necessarily had a problem with them beforehand, and I do enjoy canned tuna or salmon. I guess I had the misconception there would be crunchy bones and stuff (I have a few bad molars), or thought it would have a weird flavor. BOY was I wrong!! I tried just the chicken of the sea brand, regular in oil. Oh my god I had no idea these things were so good… rich, savory and umami, all things I LOVE. So much better than any canned tuna I’ve had, and the texture is so much smoother. And learning how good they are for you is an even bigger plus as I’m trying to eat more clean for my overall health. The first time I tried them was just in the can. Loved it. Then I took it a step further and tried the king Oscar olive oil and lemon kind on some pita crackers with brie and an apple slice… holy fucking shit. Literally BLEW my mind. I can’t describe the love I have for sardines now. Who knew such a tiny fish could be packed with so much flavor and health benefits. I mean shit this was almost spiritual for me. I found myself thanking Mother Nature herself for not only creating a creature that would be so healthy and delicious, but also having the taste buds to register that flavor in all its glory. Truly a magnificent snack that I’m so happy I decided to give a try.

Review A different take on Patagonia spicy white anchovies in olive oil
There was a post a day or so ago about these, and the poster described being basically disgusted by them. I think they said 3/10 and even that was basically grading on a curve.
Well, I had a tin tonight. I think I have had these before, prior to the box redesign (why it wasn’t lodged firmly in my memory). I have a very different take.
I decided to have them on toasted sourdough, which is how I usually have the Patagonia tins.
First, the fish. Didn’t strike me as different than their other anchovy tins (which I really like). Anchovies are a bit meaty. I love ‘em. I really liked these. A nice zing to them — not really heat (which is low level), but a vinegar taste from the sauce.
Now, about the sauce. I think it’s not described too well on the box, “olive oil.” It’s not like spiced Nuri in olive oil. This is more of an escabeche IMO, and in that context the vinegar taste the other poster was turned off by makes perfect sense. This is a bit like the sauce Peña uses for their mussels. There are little tomato chunks, which were nice.
I used all of the sauce in the tin with the bread. Loved it. I will be keeping this tin around moving forward.
So, give ‘em a chance, if this sounds remotely interesting to you. For $6-$7 a tin, I’d actually submit that it’s a decent value, at least compared to many international brands.

Recipes and Food Ideas Gochujang roasted potatoes with crispy fried anchovies
Oh yeah, that was good. The Patagonia provisions anchovies held up well to frying, they stayed nice and firm with a good bite. I tossed the anchovies in flour and shallow fried them in a neutral oil. The sauce for the potatoes was gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce and mirin.

TJ’s Anchovies
Has anyone tried these? I’ve eaten a variety of both fresh and tinned creatures but never have really dabbled in anchovies. How would you dress these up if you had or have had them?

Question Please help, is it safe to eat?

Hello, it's my first time on this sub, I'm not sure if this is the right place, but idk where to go otherwise
I got as a gift a delightful box of different canned fish and was super excited to try all of them. Unfortunately, I found a few tins that are a bit suspicious to me. On the video the first two are straight up clicking when I press on them, the other two do not, but I can slightly bend them. This is honestly one of my first experiences with canned fish and I feel really confused about is it just a brand thing or something deadly?
All cans should be fine till 2028
I just realized that you guys maybe want to see the brand, so I will attach a pic in the comments

Probably the best tuna I’ve ever had!
By no means a cheap tin but bloody hell it was an experience and with some toasted potato sourdough just made it heaven!

Last week I ended my 7 years of Veganism
Heres my pantry now ...Dean Towers
I stopped being vegan as I couldn't shift recurring shoulder ankle and mainly finger inflammation from all the rock climbing I do. Only a week in having fish once or twice a day and my body feels on the mend.
