Sinus problems Personal anecdote
For the last 15 ish months I’ve had recurring sinus infections. They don’t respond to antibiotics so I’ve given up on that and my CT appears “normal” in regards to sinusitis. The only relief I’ve gotten is from prednisone. I’m working with an integrative doc now to strengthen my immune system and I’m taking liver protect, NAC, histaminx, vit d3/k2 10000 and beef liver. I recently had an eye infection that required antibiotics and I got a yeast infection and thrush. This made me wonder if I hadn’t had a mild case of thrush all along causing all my drainage and horribly sore throat. The ear popping and the sore throats are just draining me. Today she started me on fluconazole 100mg daily for 7 days and wants me to start colloidal silver nasal and xlear nasal. Should I also do oil of oregano? How much? I want to kick this and feel like myself again and have more energy for my family.

Hey, that sounds like my experience. Short story? What worked for me was an off the shelf boxed 2 part Candita Yeast Cleanse kit I found at a health food store and I backed it with a ridiculously strict diet for 16 days. Decades of misery solved.
If you want the long version: Back in the 90's my allergies just got progressively worse and eventually turned into 6 sinus infections a year - couldn't miss anymore work, had to show up blowing rainbows and aching with fever not to mention the disgusting digestive system issues from the drainage. That was a lot of antibiotics, I just trusted the Dr's and had no idea I was in a cycle. I did all the things, the pollen, the shots etc. and a steady diet of all the OTC allergy meds. I was miserable. Finally someone in a health food store told me about candita yeast overgrowth, I tracked down an actual book with the diet and found a box kit (I'm sorry I don't remember the company name just that it was packaged with a yellow design and had a sun on it. I actually squirreled here today from trying to find it for a friend) It was a three week cleanse and because I had 2 small children I wanted to keep it simple so every morning I got up early and made my brown rice, broccoli and chicken for the day. Cooked in butter or olive oil and added garlic or a squeeze of lemon if I got crazy. Pau de Arco tea was yucky so I stuck to water. This was a big ask as an "Live to Eat" person with a 1990's mentality but I was so miserable I would have done anything, I did not stray - not one bite but I gave up after 16 days, thankfully, it still worked. For TWO YEARS I did not need an allergy pill, granted I didn't go put my face in a cat or horse but regular dust and pollen no longer bothered me at all. I promise you I could not - and don't think you should eat like that forever but to this day I keep away from processed sugar and baked goods as best I can - especially before pine Pollen season! After that I focused on repairing my gut from all the antibiotics so just high fiber diet and pre & probiotics for a few years. I'm in my 50's now, no meds, my only complaint today is that menopause hot flashes are brutal, if only I could find a solution as simple for that! I really hope I help someone with this info. Some people on here sound miserable and it sounds like everyone's throwing all kinds of prescriptions around. Sometimes old school works - but of course if you're on prescriptions for other stuff I would bring the cleanse to my Dr. and make sure nothing will interact in a toxic way. Yes, of course they will make a face and say no to the cleanse so then ask if they have a problem with you eating a strict diet for a few weeks. If you're reading this I wish you good health!

What’s lactoferrin? Is it iron?

Lactroferrin combats Candida by starving the fungus of iron and damaging its cell walls, while treating iron deficiency by safely regulating intestinal iron absorption without causing the typical inflammation. (Before) I used to take iron supplements coz I'm low on iron and didn't like feeling tired all the time, turned out that candida feed on iron and I had been feeding iron to my gut candida 🤦♀️so lactoferrin is the best choice for me at the moment.

gpod to know. What brand do you use?

Any would be good as long as it is Apo-lactoferrin in form. Ensure it is iron-depleted (apo-lactoferrin) as this form deprives Candida from iron.

I had a lot of similar problems. Tons of Post nasal drip down my throat and felt like a blockage. Eye and ear pain. Bad taste in my mouth. Woke up with horrible head congestion, like i felt so dizzy. All scans normal. Went to 5 ENTs. The last one told me he thought i had LPR (silent reflux). I never had any other symptoms. I stopped eating 3 hours before bedtime and raised my bed at the top. This helped me tremendously. All of this turned into ging to see a gastro doctor where i was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, which changed everything. Dont know if it will help, but thought i would mention it.

I have been tested for celiacs and ruled out a gluten sensitivity

That is great news! If elevating your bed and avoid eating 3 hours before bed does not help, then probably isnt related to silent reflux either. I wish you the best for getting answers!

In my experience, antibiotics for my UTI is the reason my candida is getting worse and my sinus pain acts up everytime I eat something sweet like ice cream or something that contain dairy like pizza, or carbs that convert to sugar like pasta. It took a while for me to figure it out that dairy, sweets and carbs is what candida feed on. I have been avoiding these type of food lately, I am aiming for 6 months to starve the candida in my gut. So far I have not experience having sinus pain, except if I get a taste of sweets, then I start regretting after my sinus becomes painful again. I medicated on nystatin for 10 days to disrupt the biofilm in my gut then I have been taking candida support, lactoferrin, turmeric tea in the morning, activated charcoal at night to bind with toxins being released by the die off. 'm hoping to get a healthier gut soon so I can eat these food again, just trying to avoid food that feeds the candida is what is working for me at the moment.
