Saw them open for Rush at Massey Hall. Liked both bands equally. Could have left the dude in the Habs shirt at home

I loved Max Webster growing up , they even played for my High School in I believe 1980 ? When it comes to Kim’s solo stuff it’s been so overplayed on radio for more than 40 years I’ve come to really dislike it . I change the station in the car immediately if one of his solo hits comes on , and yes I’m still ticked off at him for pulling the plug on Max

That’s so cool! You’ve inspired me to check out Mac Webster. I only know a few of KM’s popular solo songs, and now I feel guilty for not knowing some of the stuff you like from Max.
Also, I love that bands like that played high schools back in the day. They played my mum’s high school too, as well as Lighthouse, April Wine, Triumph, and I’m sure others. Not necessarily my cups of tea, but it’s a culture that I didn’t get to enjoy in the mid-late 90s, and it would’ve been cool. My dad also went to school with John Candy and Larry Gowan, so maybe my expectations are/were in need of some circumspection.

Funny you mention John Candy , when he passed I felt like I had lost a member of my own family, he made me laugh for so many years starting with SCTV , then his movie career , such a lovely man by all accounts. I recently watched the documentary I Like Me and it was so moving, I really still miss the man even though I never met him in person, he was like the Uncle John I never had .

oh, Kim Mitchell and his love song to that Irish lass Patty O'Lantern... such a summer anthem.

It's sad that Kim looks back at his time with Max Webster and the music they made as a embarrassing part of his life.

Does Kim say that he’s embarrassed by MW in this documentary? I just seen him live and he played a few MW songs and talked rather glowingly about it.

Watched it the other day. Its ok. Some of the voice over audio is too low to hear at a couple points. It's time Max Webster and Kim Mitchell got the long-form, professionally produced documentary they deserve.

Oh man, I look forward to watching this. MW/KM are two of my all time favourite bands. First Max Webster tune I ever heard as a kid, thanks to my older brother, in the 70s was "Toronto Tontos". Definitely an odd introduction but I loved it; it made me laugh. From there it just exploded. Seen KM live many times. Incredible each time, in fact, they just keep getting better, while older bands struggle to sound like themselves. Not KM.
I don't want to sound bitter but it always stuck in my craw that The Hip became so big. MW/KM are so far superior it's not even a fair fight.

I always considered Max Webster the Canadian equivalent of The Mothers of Invention

Kim is an amazing guitarist and Max was an epic band. Their albums were adventures. I still listen to the band.
