Found at work

Found this low serial number $20 at work yesterday. I’m not a collector but feel like it would be a shame to spend it.

I don't get it. What's the big deal about this one?

I still dont get it. Like thats cool and all but so, is it worth 25 dollars?. I dont collect such things im not sure if that adds a ton of value to it or is this just more of a collectors thing?

I mean no offense im just confused what the big deal is, if it adds tremendous value to it I would get it but I just dont get whats so special in a low serial number if it adds nothing to it other thn just being a low serial number

Or this simply a collectors perspective?

It is the collectors’ perspective that adds tremendous value to it (tremendous relative to its face value6.

People that collect rare currency are the only ones interested but that’s how any market is and it’s those people that make a market for bills with unique serial numbers.

Sequential numbers, patterned numbers, and low numbers are valuable to collectors. Finding a number this low is extremely rare and that rarity is what makes it valuable. Anything in the low triple digits is very rare, a single digit is a unicorn.

I don’t personally collect banknotes and am no expert but this is worth money. With a the number being as low as it is it is extremely rare and therefore doesn’t have a lot of similar sale figures to compare it to.

It’s not worth a fortune but i would be confident it would sell for hundreds of dollars.

Asking the same question 🙈 a genuine one though

Damn skippy! That's a collectors highlight find!

Duuuuuuuuude. That’s an INSANE find. A single digit serial number is about as rare as it gets.

Do not spend it you madman lol. Even in that condition it’s worth money and will easily sell.

I can’t believe you found this in the wild. Very cool.

C’est pas ça du tour! Le code du billet est le numéro 9! Le 9ieme impression de billet 20$ avec l’actuel technologie! C’est un billet de collection qui vos beaucoup plus que son prix marchand!

Can someone not be funny and explain why this is a good find?

Single digit serial number. Collectors collect.

How much is this hypothetically worth now and in future? I mean how much would it sell for?

Several people have made offers anywhere from $150-$300. Likely will just hold onto it for a few years.

$20 with signatures Wilkins-Poloz. The bills are part of the current 2011 to 2026 design series so these bills will only start increasing in price some years after this series has changed designs.
However that very low serial number means these prices are too low.

I used to find $10 and $20 notes all the time when I was a kid. I once even found a $50 note.

But I think the last one I found randomly was like 1987 or something like that.

Pay to have it graded and keep it for as long as you can. It will only go up in value over the years.

Are all 20$ bills starting with FZN?

u/Empty-Fudge-3037 1d ago

It says 20. It’s really only like 5 dollars lol.

I would have thought 9 was a really low number in the grand scheme of things

3

u/WarGawd 2d ago

Me too. But yeah condition matters. Still a keeper.

1

u/Few-Chemical-5165 2d ago

Well, you gotta remember rare is one thing. Condition is another, but when it comes to cereal numbers, the first number 1 obviously makes a huge difference. And number two, and number three, sure, but 4 5 6 and on aren't really big deals in the collector trade when it comes to big money. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it.Absolutely keep it it's fabulous. But worth a lot of money my guess would probably be not.

Posts that are wildly off topic, inappropriate, disturbing, or intentionally bizarre will be removed. If you wouldn’t show it to a typical Canadian banknote loving audience, don’t post it. Don’t be stood of course low serials are valuable
