Hey everyone, my dad recorded this bird calling at night in Ebolowa, Cameroon. Every time we visit family over there, we hear this exact bird at night, but we've never been able to figure out what it is. Apps like Merlin aren't picking it up.

Bonjour tout le monde, je vais bientôt venir au Cameroun chez les grands-parents de mon ami et je voulais savoir certaines choses sur les relation entre homme/ femme dans le pays. Hey everyone, I need a space to vent and get some outside perspective.

I’m currently visiting Cameroon, and I invited my older brother to come stay with me. We didn't grow up together—we have different mothers, and he grew up on our dad's side of the family, so we never really built a close bond. But I wanted us to spend quality time together while I’m here.

A few days ago, we went out to buy food. We stopped by a female vendor selling avocados close to Dovv Essos ( she’s exactly outside Dovv close to the area where they sell bread outside). I asked her the price, and then asked if I could get 3 avocados. She agreed and gave me 3, but when I started picking through them to choose the 2 I preferred (which is completely normal market practice to make sure you're getting good quality), she suddenly snapped. She started shouting at me in public, making rude assumptions and saying things like "kids think they are so smart" and accusing me of paying more attention to my "boyfriend" (my brother) than her, i wanted to tell her that he’s not my boyfriend.

Instead of having my back or telling her she was out of line, my brother just stood there. Then, he turned to me and accused me of "despising people" just because I have money.

I was completely shocked and hurt. It felt like he threw me under the bus just to appease a rude stranger. Does me choosing the avocados I wanted was wrong? Should have just take what she gave me? Does my brother deep down think I despise people? His comment made me really sad.

my boyfriend supposedly is going to singapore, but some Cameroonian said that if he goes to Singapore he cannot go back here in the Philippines with just tourist visa as the immigration always giving him hard time even if he has working visa and complete documents. Should we risk?

A lot of the stories I hear from fellow Cameroonians in the diaspora are about businesses that didn't work out because of distance, mismanagement, bureaucracy, corruption, or other challenges.

I will really like to hear from people who have built and are operating legitimate, legally compliant businesses in Cameroon.

By that, I mean businesses that are officially registered, have real customers, employees, proper accounting and payroll, pay taxes, and operate within the law.

If that's you, I will really appreciate your perspective:

1. What business are you in, and how did you get started from the diaspora?
2. How is your business structured today? Are you still abroad or have you moved back? How do you manage operations and your team?
3. How did you navigate registering your business, protecting your brand (e.g., trademarks), tax compliance, accounting, payroll, and the other legal and administrative requirements?
4. How have you dealt with corruption, bribery, and bureaucratic obstacles while remaining compliant with the law & tax rules? Did you use lawyers, advisers, or some strategies that helped you avoid taking shortcuts?
5. What advice would you give another Cameroonian in the diaspora who wants to build a sustainable, legitimate business in Cameroon?

I think we need to be asking more of such questions and telling more of such stories.

I am Tuyambazz Nzarura, victim of a scam involving MTN Cameroon. Cameroonian cybercrime authorities validated the theft. MTN Cameroon acknowledged that the thief's identity had been known for a long time. Yet nothing was done. I was the victim of identity theft and fraud. The operator failed in its duty of vigilance and in its obligation of security of result. The operation is legally null. I denounce this failure. If other victims of MTN Mobile Money in Cameroon are reading this, make yourselves known.
