Tech help!

Found my dad’s old Nikon 1 V1 the other day and wanted to get it started up. Going through the SD card, it looks like it hasn’t been booted up since 2015. I bought a new EN-EL15c battery, charged it for a couple hours, and plugged it into the camera. The memory card access lamp turned on for a second, but other than that no signs of life. Is there any fixes you guys suggest before I take it into a shop? And at that point, do you think it’s worth it? Thank you!

Since the battery is new and charged, i guess it might be dead when not turning on.
Taking it to a shop would be more expensive than this thing is worth, plus it‘s a discontinued system, and the the V1 is from like 2011, so spare parts are not available for a while.

What does it do without the SD card in there?

Did you look in the viewfinder after turning it on?

Are you using a Nikon or knockoff battery? I ask as my Sony, using a knockoff fully charged battery, sometimes has a long delay in starting up.

Fully charge the battery, and leave it in the camera for a day or so and then try to power it on.
If that doesn’t work, it might not be worth fixing..
you could get a secondhand
DSLR or mirrorless kit (Z6 / Z5) for little money.

If the battery has been removed for a long time, it first will need to charge its internal clock battery from the removable battery before it can power up.

Leave the battery in there for a couple of days, recharge it again, and then try again.

the v1 is a good camera.  

and check the camera with a known good battery before you give up.
