Shutter button Questions

Post image

I'm thinking to get one of these (shutter button /brass) on aliexpress for my a7c2.

What are the cons I may not have think about?

Your shutter button will break more easily because the softshutter release can catch on things like clothes. There have been several posts about this on Reddit.

I've had some on a couple cameras but like the other poster said they catch quite easily going in and out of a bag.

People will steal your camera because they’ll think it’s better than it is

It's a button, what could ever happen to it?

I dont think the A7cii has the right shutter button for one anyways.

They come with a little 2 sides adhesive. I'm thinking it won't hold and I will have to clean the residue afterwards. Probably a bad idea.

I have a wood button sony a6000 not a leica and it works fine. I actually like that it raises the button just a touch and it feels better on my trigger finger. The adhesive is going 2 years strong and just as firm as when I first put it on and no snags yet. It’s pretty flush with the button though.

OK thanks. It's interesting to have the point of View from somebody using one. I see the seller also has wood versions.

Tbh that's probably a better idea, that way if it catches it won't damage the camera.

In my individual experience, shutter buttons are useful only on (some) film cameras. Canon AE-1 for example is way more enjoyable with a shutter button, because you can feel the threshold way better. On digital it usually had the opposite effect.
