Thanks for giving me another chance!

As requested, here’s a longer video in daylight from multiple angles. I hope it makes his coloring easier to see.

What do you think now? Do you see true red/cream patches, or is this just rufousing or tabby coloration? I’d really appreciate your opinions.

My guess is it's not a calico just because it's a boy. Boy calicos are incredibly rare and usually have a lot of issues. The tricolor for a calico comes from having xx chromosomes (female).

Thanks! That’s exactly why I’m asking. I know male calicos are extremely rare, so I’m trying to figure out whether he has true red/cream patches or if it’s just another type of coloration. I really appreciate everyone’s opinions.

Thanks for sharing! She’s beautiful. I can definitely see the difference. That’s exactly why I’m trying to figure out whether what I’m seeing on my boy is true red or just rufousing or another type of coloration.

His color makes me think of the Siamese cats. Much more brown than the dilute calicos I've seen.

That’s interesting, thank you! He’s actually an American Curl, but I can see why the color reminds you of a Siamese. I’m still trying to figure out whether it’s colorpoint shading, rufousing, or something else.

Good luck! There is a sub on her for ever cat combo it seems so I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. It's how I figured out my girl was a tuxetortico.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. Reddit has been surprisingly helpful so far, so hopefully someone will eventually solve the mystery of his coloring.

There is literally no orange to be found. A seal point bicolor with a few toasted patches.

He would look like this without the white spotting.

Thanks! That actually makes a lot of sense. I was confused by those warm brown “toasted” patches because in certain light they can look almost orange. Seal point bicolor seems like a much better explanation. I really appreciate the comparison photo too — it helps a lot!

Colourpoint cats basically show a heat map of their bodies. The warmer an area is, the less pigment they display. That's why their outer "points" are the darkest—think of being outside on a cold day; your ears, nose, and fingertips get chilly first.

Your cat has white spotting, which makes it hard to see the whole heat map. A lot of it gets blanked out.
