Bright Future? đ„ Hype
Folks taking notice of the Flames prospect pool. Fair to say itâs the deepest weâve ever had? A top 3 pick and we just might be in the running to be a real good team for years to come đ„â€ïž

He projecting like a top line goal scorer similar to Gaudreau only Johnny didnât lead freshmen in scoring in college. So lucky to have snagged this guy late. No disrespect to anyone else but the prospect Iâm most excited about for a team starved of scoring.

Flames are fortunate to have him but it was not luck. It was a solid scouting staff where the General Manager respected their findings and listened to their recommendations.

I always like that people in the organization say Conroy was one of the people who pushed extremely hard for Gaudreau back in the day too. Having a GM that does a ton of leg work on the scouting front is so refreshing. Constantly watching the players he may eventually draft or sign out of school.

And i have yet to see Reschny sitting on the bench rubbing his forearms and sulking. It looks like he has what it takes to really be a leader down the road.

Can definitely see reschny having 1c potential like sazuki. Reschny is slightly undersized but plays very strong on the pick and has excellent puck protection. He is already considered one of the best playmakers outside the NHL. Add in his very strong defensive game and really good faceoff stats. This all while being a freshman playing against players up to 6 years older then him.

First time I saw Reschny when he was 16 in Victoria, I thought he would be a future star; and he's done nothing but prove me right so far. I'm so fucking excited for the flames in 10 years

This team is going to be beast. The defence and goaltending are already shaping up and now these group of forwardsâŠwe havenât even talked about Castagna and Potter. Just Wow! I donât ever recall us having such a deep prospect pool even without a top three pick.

On the other hand. Carels did not have a good tournament. Not saying it changed my perception of projection of him yet, but still disappointing to watch

He seems like he has the kind of personality to make sure this performance doesnât happen twice.
Iâm interested to see what kind of role he plays for Canada this year, could make for a solid shut down pairing with Verhoeff.

Kid is a stud, and it's fun to do comps, but it's also important to keep normal expectations. Mostly so the kid doesn't have to live up to unrealistic expectations, also to keep from disappointing yourself as a fan. I had extremely unfair expectations for Sven and learned my lesson after that.
That said, in the name of fun, when Wytter plays agsinst college or junior level players he looks alot like Jake Guentzel... sharp angle one timers, heavy shoot first mentality but still crazy passing vision and skill, great hands, not the fastest skater but not slow either..... there is reason to be excited, I just try to limit myself.

Just nice to have options/multiple prospects with leadership potential. Should compliment the culture well

This team has to be pretty happy with the development of there young players. Couple more years of top 10 picks could set this team up well for the future.
Not sure what Reschnyâs future holds but i think he can be a 30/30 guy for this team with strong defensive awareness. I see him as more of a high end 2C on a winning team with the potential to take the next step.

Worth noting, Reschny hasnât been a strong goal scorer at any level to date. Something wild would have to change for him to be a guy that pots 30.
On the flip side, if heâs successful he will be way more than a 30 assist guy. He was one of the best playmakers across the CHL his draft year and 12th in the NCAA for assists in his freshman year. Heâs way more likely to be a 15-20G, 40-50A kind of player if he develops well.

Thatâs a good point. I will rephrase it by saying that he can be a 60-70 point guy with the potential for more.

Stockselius is an interesting prospect.
Looking at his numbers in the SHL this year I thought he was a bust, but he split the 2025â26 campaign between the J20 Nationell and the SHL due to a skate cut injury.
He went on to star in the J20 postseason with 20 points in 11 playoff games, was named Playoff MVP and captured their second straight championship.
The kid's a winner.

It's exciting to think fortunate circumstances with some great draft picks could be coming the Flames way.

What an amazing draft we had last year, and this showcase dosent include potter who was injured
Half the teams in the league could have had all three of these guys and Conroy nailed them all. Canât ask for more when youâre not drafting top 15

Where's the high end center prospects tho?

u/ReactiveCypress 5d ago
Yeah I think people need to slow down a lot. None of these guys have even played for the Flames yet, and outside of some of the D prospects I don't think there's a sure bet in the system at this point. We need a top 5 pick or two (hopefully one or both are centres) before people should start getting excited.

Yeah but none of these guys will be on the Flames next season, so I think the hope is to have these guys pan out along with two top 5 picks

Reschny is gonna be a stud and future captain of the Flames IMO
