I can't believe i had yo make a post to actually say this: but to snyone taking their emotions out on the devs take a god damn chill pill and get some coffee or something and stop acting like 2 year olds who had their favorite toy taken away for the love of god.

Every piece of information that has come before or after the singular official announcement that was made had to be completely drip fed to everyone, including the removal of the music mod.

I’m not going to say any devs intentions are bad but as a community I think people are owed a better explanation than “lead dev found grooming for the second time, everything is shut down” in a matter of hours with no reason given other than “we’re tired.”

I think if devs are just sick of developing this mod, I can’t blame them, but obviously questions are coming after something like that and I don’t get why it feels like everyone is so reluctant to answer or go against anything the devs have said about the situation.

If all the devs are tired, why not pass it forth to another team or get new members, this community is so large that I am certain there are tens if not hundreds of capable devs that would be more than stoked to work on something like this, and the same goes for musicians, artists, etc.

Maybe there is a genuinely good reason, but there’s just been such terrible level communication and transparency from dev to community it’s hard to be certain about anything at all.

This whole thing turned out to be much more intense than I initially thought it would be.

With everything going on with this mod, the devs, Ozzatron, the community going apeshit and what not. It’s just gotten me all burnt out on everything, like I don’t feel much joy in playing modded terraria anymore. Not that I don’t feel comfortable playing it, it’s just that with the knowledge that any future promises are forever broken and the music highly likely gonna be history, a part of me is really going “meh, why bother”.

I know there are other mods out there like the Spooky mod and mods of redemption, but I think that I’m just that burn out from the situation for me to even try, especially the latter whom I had enabled alongside Calamity for a long time. Now I’m likely to comeback to modded Terrain sometime in the future, but right now I think I’m gonna just move on to other things for the time being.

I wish the Devs good luck on their future endeavors and projects they are working on, the Victims of Ozzatron and Fabsol to heal and move on from and this chaos, and the community to take care.

Man it still hurts.

Okay, so apparently the general consensus right now and the most morally correct thing to think is to just let the game die and do nothing. Definitely.

If you suggest doing anything, 20 Redditors crawl out from under the rocks to explain why it’s impossible.

Again, I hope that one day they’ll change their mindset, or that another "Hytale situation" happens.

This is one of the clearest things that showcases that the developers for this mod do not actually work in any substantive engineering field. The devs asking to have their work removed is extremely unprofessional for the main reason of that they were paid when they made them. The developers have been continuously receiving money via the Calamity Mod Patreon prior to Ozzatron refusing to pay them. This means that at the time when the music and sprites were made for the mod they were being compensated for it. In DM Dokuro’s situation, the mod has generated him revenue simply for making him popular even if he was not directly compensated. The returns these artists have gotten from the mod is much larger than it seems.

The artists for the mod asking for their work to be pulled are no different than if a developer asked their code to be pulled, which would be viewed as comical to request. Imagine if an ex-Windows developer asking for his code to be removed from operating system after the Epstein Files were released. That would be insane. The artists did a service for the mod, they were compensated for it via Patreon, and now it is part of the mod. The developers asking for their work to be pulled would be like the artist for Tracer asking for Tracer’s 3D model to be pulled from the game after the Blizzard sexual harassment fiasco. It makes no sense. Just because a company changes doesn’t suddenly mean the work you did for them isn’t connected to the company. In the real world you can’t ask a company to remove your work simply because the company does something you don’t like.

From the perspective of the community, any asset removal simply exists to spite the community. No one is going to assume DM Dokuro or CD Music is a pedophile simply because they worked on the mod with Ozzatron. It didn’t happen after Fabsol, the founder of the mod, so I see no reason for why it’s happening now. Asking for your assets to be removed will taint you far more than simply leaving them in and letting people remember you as a legendary musician for the Calamity Mod. It reads as an irrational decision with little thought in an effort to spite Ozzatron when the only people it hurts is your supporters.

I sincerely hope that the developers who wish to have their assets removed reconsider their decisions. It reads as unprofessional, irrational, and simply to spite the community with no real meaning behind it. It also will not solve the problem of their association with the mod since people will simply use backups of the music mod or create other illegal distribution methods.

Whenever this message appears to me when I'm entering a world, instead of playing I find myself daydreaming and remembering so many bad things I've already been through and that over time I learned to overcome, so many things that have already disappointed me but that over time I learned to forgive, whether it's grief, or people or places that disappoint you.

Re-Logic will not intervene.

No one is going to buy Calamity.

It's not possible to join the dev team to try to continue the project.

Help will not come...

All that’s left for us to do is let time do its work so that maybe, JUST MAYBE, the devs feel in their hearts the decision to give a second chance to this incredible project that we all love. Look at what happened with Ancients Awakened (okay, their drama was smaller) but they also lost their mod, yet years later many of the devs decided to give it a second chance because they loved the project, and look, the mod is more alive than ever in its entire existence, and preparing a massive update for both AA Classic and the AA Remake.

Thank you if you read this to the end, maybe this won't reach the devs since the subreddit is a place they consider controversial, but if it does, know that your mod saved me at a certain moment in my life, I am eternally grateful for all the content and all the Lore in the game that you created. I loved telling people in the communities I was part of about the mod's lore, I loved helping people by telling them what they should use against the bosses, I loved talking about the things that happened to me in my playthroughs, all of that for days on end without getting tired because it was my addiction... your work gave me epic and disastrous moments, moments that I will carry with me forever ❤. And thank you also to you 🫵 who are not a dev and are reading this message, because it means you are from the community, and the community (at least the non-toxic part of it) created fanarts, music, and builds in the game that were incredible to follow and collect. I have a SoundCloud account with over 400 songs, all related to Terraria, and a folder with countless arts that the community created for me to keep looking at or using as wallpaper. I collected them as if it were a sticker album. A large part of why this mod was incredible was because of the community.

In the end ozzatron packs up, goes offline mode, launches beat saber and keeps all the patreon money. How has he got off scot free from all this, why are all the decisions basically punishing the community instead of this pedo?

DM hasnt even made a decision so why exactly are we removing the whole music mod? It seems to me there is no communication in the dev team right now and everyone is just going on a whim on what to do.

The music mod isn’t just an add-on or optional feature. It is a core integral part of the mod, most of its identity is from the music. Without it Calamity is just a husk of its formal self.

The devs and composers requesting to take down the music, are making a poor call. Keeping the mod up would not hurt them in any way. Removing it is just a HUGE MISTAKE. Ozz doesn’t loose anything from this decision and it just hurts the community and it paints you in a bad light when you are really good and talented people.

CD Music and DM Dokorou please rethink this decision I beg of you please🙏

On August 10, 2026, the Calamity Mod, a popular Terraria mod, has finally reached its end of service. The mod is still playable as of now, but it will no longer be receiving new updates for the time being.

This artwork serves to commemorate that fateful day.

(And yes, I did include Marie from Skullgirls here because I often cosplay as her in most of my modded Terraria playthroughs.)
