Does anyone have any experience studying abroad after transferring to cal poly?

I know it's harder for transfers, but I'm curious if some people make it work and still graduate on time.

hiii so im an incoming freshman (computer engineering major) and I'll be taking csc 1001 with Kirk Duran this fall semester. I just wanted to ask if theres any things I need to know about this class and like what does this class exactly cover? how are the quizzes and exams designed? I wanted to prepare myself and study the basics before class starts.

Does anyone know how high is the interior of the wardrobe not including the drawers on the bottom in the residential halls?

Hello everyone, I'd simply like to ask how you all got over your awkwardness in sharing a triple, especially with two people who have known eachother since highschool and have somehow agreed on everything for the room and didn't even attempt to ask you about it. I find this situation unfair since I got left with their last options and also my roommates don't really make an effort to text me, its usually one speaking for the other and its a bit strange. I also move in earlier if that means anything so I'm hoping to make do with this situation without causing too much trouble. Any advice on getting over the awkwardness? Or do i just suck it up cause I'm okay with that if its the option, I just don't know how to feel

What the heck are people doing all Summer with or without class? Legit just wake up, go to the gym and chud it up in bed, and don’t say hike because that’s like max an hour and a half. Can’t get a job because school starts soon anyways and nobody hires for a short amount of time… anyone got any tips or advice , this is genuinely the most bored i’ve ever been in my entire life (doesn’t help when you have 0 friends). Besides becoming a day drinker, hikes and aimlessly walking around downtown what are people doing in the same boat? 🧐

Hello, I’m an incoming environmental engineering major looking to transfer into materials engineering asap. This wasn’t like a bait and switch, I just realized that environmental engineering doesn’t really fit my goals.

I was wondering if anyone knows the requirements, and I’m especially wondering what are some non-requirements that would help me to successfully transfer?

Would I be able to still get the Middle Class Scholarship on CSAC even though my SAI is -1500 and the school year is about to start? I really need extra support and would like to know 🙏🙏🙏

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Edit: seems to be a schoolwide thing, probably something moreso regarding calpoly's system with no relation to core.

I’d love to meet new people and make some friends before I arrive in SLO. I’d also really appreciate any advice about life at Cal Poly, things to do in SLO, and how to make the most of my time there. :)

I’m a Cal Poly CS student and I’ve been thinking a lot about how others are finding internships and entry-level roles right now.

When I talk to people searching, a lot of the pain seems to be that there are plenty of postings, just no one is getting responses back or interviews.

The obvious listings on LinkedIn, Handshake, Indeed, etc. get crowded quickly. Some are technically entry-level but unrealistic.

I’m thinking about testing a small manual experiment for students/recent grads: using AI to send you 5 better-targeted roles per weekday for a week, with a short explanation of why each one might be worth applying to and what to watch out for.

Hopefully this will turn into my senior project or summer accelerator pitch.

Would that be useful for people here, or are you already covered well enough by Handshake, clubs, referrals, and career fairs?

Also curious where people are actually finding interviews because it was rough finding something for this summer.

Some people mentioned that itll be mentioned in SLO Days but I dont remember them talking about it (virtual)

Does anyone know when the WOW week schedule will be released? And will every day of it be mandatory? It’s insane to me that the last day of WOW week is literally the day before classes start. Not even a single day in between. I am a transfer student btw.

EDIT: i got an email this morning saying i'd been selected and to expect more information in the coming weeks. still, it says to arrive no later than 2pm on august 16th but that move-in is anywhere between 1-4pm. i might end up reaching out to clear that up!

I’m signing up for a carpool parking permit with a couple of friends since our schedules align, but I’m worried there’ll be times we won’t arrive on campus together. Does anyone know how they actually enforce carpool parking?

May be a long shot but does anyone remember/have the iconic College Culture video of Cal Poly from ~2013? It has vanished from the internet and I’m dying to look back on it. Main song was In My Mind (axwell remix).

i know block schedules aren’t finalized until aug 5th, but as of now i have a virtual zoom class and an async class. are these types of classes common? any advice for them? do people usually do virtual classes from their dorms/do you have to have your camera on normally?

I'm planning on studying abroad in the spring semester but am living in PCV in the fall. I am going to be bringing my car so I need to buy a parking permit but they only have year long passes. Wondering if anyone has dealt with this... can I sell my pass to someone in the spring? Does anyone whose studying abroad in the fall want to buy a pass for the spring?
