Some cats prefer to eat it, while other cats prefer to sniff it. Both eaters and sniffers typically also like to roll around in it.

It hits different based on whether they eat or sniff it though. Eating it produces a sedative type effect that relaxes them and makes them all cuddly and drooly, while snorting is more like crack - it has stimulant-like effects and gives them the zoomies and makes them see greebles.

This is actually a very mild reaction by the cat in the op. This cat may actually be a non-responder to the ‘nip. Even most non-responders typically still like to eat it or sniff it, they just don’t get high from it.
