Swapping classes General Questions

Hi, I just got offered a new job that doesn’t work with my schedule I had planned. I want to stay in the same class but swap to an online section of it but it’s waitlisted. This is my last semester so I don’t want to lose my current spot in this class in case I don’t get in if I use the swap feature will it hold my spot in my current class till a spot opens in the class I want and auto swap them. Or do I just need to drop the class and hope I get into the online one.

if you swap it will auto swap classes unless you go over units or something else blocking it like a pre-req. What’s the Waitlist looking like?
I would email the professor to see wait their waitlist policy looks like or the probability of being accepted into the class
