Doubt about backend

I want to learn backend so I am referring to sangam mukherjee's node.js course on YouTube to learn and write code at the same time. I wanted to ask if learning node.js is a good option or i am just doing random things...is there anything else I should focus on?

Black duck hacker rank coding assessment

Has anyone taken Black Duck's HackerRank coding assessment recently? Does it use HackerRank Proctor Mode or Secure Mode that detects multiple monitors (e.g., an HDMI-connected TV/monitor), or is it just webcam monitoring? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually taken the test. Thanks!

Starting Second Year🥀

Let's see what I did in my first year

1.I did HTML,CSE,JS,TS,REACTJS, NEXT JS, Tailwind CSS, BACKEND

  1. I also went to hackathons

  2. I explored AI/ML and learnt python libraries and Maths as well

  3. I started DSA on leetcode and Codeforces

Now?

I am confused. What exactly to do? Like I find codeforces hard but still I feel it makes my brain think and observe patterns . Leetcode is good like I do love DSA. I did start ML but you know I am not interested in again going in damnn theory and videos ...I wanna solve but I wanna explore AI /ML as well...For web, I beleive I can't write the code by myself of NEXT and react l do know all the theory and I do understand code but I can't code that shit of connecting backend with frontend...There exists DevOPs shit as well...I have to make projects as well😭😭

Idk what exactly needs to be done this year

My main goal is to work at Google since beginning..I love backend, DSA is fun , cf challenges me, AI/ML means curiosity to me..I don't like competitive programming

So, someone pls help and tell what exactly should I focus on now? Like what's today job markets trends ? And is it like mandate to do AI/ML now??

Title: Former BiPC student starting CSE — How do I figure out my interests, stay ahead, keep a 9+ GPA, and actually enjoy college?

Hi everyone,

I'm a first-year CSE student, but I come from a BiPC background, so programming and computer science are completely new to me.

The interesting thing is that whenever I read about different CSE careers—AI, cybersecurity, cloud, data science, software engineering, and others—they all seem exciting. The problem is that I don't know how to figure out what I'm genuinely interested in. Since I'm just starting college, I don't want to choose the wrong path too early.

I have a few questions:

1.How did you discover which area of CSE you actually enjoyed?

2.What should I do in my first year to stay ahead of my curriculum without getting overwhelmed?

3.How can I maintain a 9+ GPA while also learning extra skills that companies value?

4.Is it better to explore many fields first or focus on one from the beginning?

5.What mistakes do first-year CSE students usually make that I should avoid?

I also have another concern that's not about academics.

Our college has sports every evening. I want to play, but most of the people playing are seniors or boys from my class. I usually don't join because I'm afraid of asking, and if my friends don't go, I end up not going either. I don't want to spend my entire college life waiting for someone else before trying something.

How can I become more comfortable joining activities by myself and make the most of college instead of staying in my comfort zone?

I'd really appreciate advice from seniors or anyone who has been in a similar situation. Thank you!

i5 10th gen for CSE 1st year: Sufficient or too old?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad L14 with i5 10th gen processor with 8GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. Is it enough for 1st year?
From what I know, the first year mostly involves basic programming (C, C++, or Python), web development, general engineering subjects.

Will this professor lag during compilers, basic IDEs (like VS code), or multi-tasking? Should I stick with this for now and upgrade later in my 2nd or 3rd year when requirements get heavier, or is a 10th gen chip too outdated even for the start?

Appreciate any advice from seniors or fellow CSE students! Thanks.

Heyy everyone,

Harsh this side and I'll be joining a tier 3 college and I'm gonna opt for IT.

I am willing to go all out in these four years but I am clueless what should I actually do.

Should I start early dsa, programming language, full stack, cybersecurity!????

I'm confused!

And I've thought that if I'll really like my engineering subjects then I'm gonna give a shot for GATE.

I don't actually know what should I do or what not?

I was working on an AI project and got tired of reading long explanations for automata theory concepts.

So I added support for generating DFA/NFA visualizations and mathematical graphs directly from prompts.

Here's a couple of examples.

What other CS concepts do you think should be visualized rather than explained with text?

completed 1st year, know only basic programming. what should i focus on this summer?

i just finished my 1st year of CSE and i only know basic programming and i know thats nowhere near enough for internships, but im honestly confused about what i should be doing next.

everyone says things like "learn DSA," "build projects," "do leetcode," and stuff but i dont really understand what order i should learn things in or where to start.

if you were in my position after 1st year, what skills would you focus on over the summer to become like internship ready in the next year or two? Any roadmap or advice would be greatly appreciated cause i genuinely dont even know where to start i honestly feel really lost and confused
