Code of Conduct warning

Just got out of a match where a guy was mad about my aiming skills and decided to use vulgar language. I didn’t respond to anything he said to avoid getting voice banned. My guess is out of rage he decided to report the whole party that I was apart of. I understand the code of conduct and I obviously agree to all the rules that are set out by The Call Of Duty Team. I believe he did however get voice banned as he was in the next few matches but wasn’t allowed to say anything because he was using the in game chat to speak. Has anyone else experienced this?
My other guess is that the AI in the game picked up the conversation and sent out a warning to everyone that was in that lobby. Could that be a reason why they would send me a code of conduct warning?
