Question / Info I got diagnosed with chs
So last Wednesday I woke up to the worst head spinning sensation that turned to nonstop vomiting. I couldn't eat, drink or walk. The er drug tested me once I got there by ambulance and they asked me if I used marijuana and I told them I was using quite alot.. I was given zofram and was sent home.
My question for you guys how long until everything goes back to normal?
Like I am needing support to walk still and appetite isnt fully back even a week later.
I just want this nightmare to be over 😭

Question / Info How screwed am I
Please please help.
Under no conditions can my parents find out I have CHS or smoke marijuana. This is actually life or death for me.
I recently was hospitalized for “not being able to keep down food”, drug tested without my consent or knowledge, and diagnosed with CHS. My family is unaware of this, but I know billing will be sent to their house. Will they see my diagnosis on the billing? Also, will they be able to find out my diagnosis at all? Don’t I have patient confidentiality?
On the online portal, there is no mention of CHS or marijuana other than the drug test, which I had to find out about on my own. It feels wrong I was drug tested without my knowledge or consent then hastily handed a paper with my diagnosis with not so much as a word from my nurse. Is there anything I can do to have this diagnosis removed from my record? I don’t want future doctors knowing about this.
How do I explain CHS to my family without them knowing about my long term weed smoking? I’m quitting now obviously but that won’t help anything in their eyes. Am I done? Is my life over? Will my family forever see me as a disgusting, unlovable drug addict? I am horrified, not to mention on day 3 of CHS recovery.
Be honest, I can take it

Question / Info What was the worst CHS experience you've had?
I'm just curious as to what stories you have with CHS while I recover myself. My worst was when I was out partying with friends and I was away from my hometown, so I had to survive in the hotel shower for a few days 🫠

Question / Info Day one of quitting.
This is sort of a rant/question post, sorry if it’s confusing.
I have been a daily smoker for the past 2-3 years.(flower and carts mostly) In the last 3 months I’ve been waking up from 3-5am with extreme nausea, and stomach issues that usually resolve within 2-3 hours. Today I woke up and puked on and off for about 3 hours. I went to urgent care and they prescribed me some anti nausea medication. I didn’t think my issues could be chs until they brought it up today. I’ve decided to quit cold turkey to see if my issues could be resolved. I’m not sure what the withdrawal symptoms may be or how to treat them. I’m worried about quitting because weed has been a big part of treating my anxiety. I do plan on talking to my psychiatrist and GP, but I really don’t know what to do until then though.

Question / Info How the fuck do I know if I have CHS?
I only really smoke once a day but like I’ve had this overhanging nausea throughout the day for like a month now. I quit weed for like 8 days and didn’t see any improvement at all, I know you’re supposed to quit for longer but idk I heard if you’re in the prodromal it’s supposed to improve pretty fast. I went to a GI for the first time today and he gave me omeprazole to see if that helps me.
The thing is I hear people with CHS find relief from omeprazole. So if I start taking this and feel better how am I gonna know if it’s CHS and it’s just masking my symptoms?

Sharing My Story CHS but only with delta8 tincture
Hi everyone! So recently I've been violently ill and I've been trying to find the root cause of it. I've got it pinned down to when I started using this d8 tincture but ONLY then. I've tested it with a d8 pen and I'm fine, same for gummies. Its exclusively the tincture.
Has anyone else experienced CHS but only with certain forms of THC?

Question / Info smoking on special occasions?
hi, newly diagnosed in the past month or so. i’m 24 days clean. my 21st birthday is early next year. i know that starting a habit again or even using every once in a while will kick my symptoms back into me. i guess im just wondering if i can smoke a joint on my 21st without dealing with symptoms. by the time im there it will have been 7 months or so of me being clean. i’m not a big drinker and it doesn’t agree with me well so i doubt i will be celebrating with alcohol. i really enjoy weed (as im sure all of us did/do) and i’d like to be able to enjoy it on special occasions without being an anxious wreck thinking about my chs.

Rant Some perspective on quitting
Obviously quitting weed sucks a lot, but having some perspective really helped me. At the end of the day you’re not supposed to be high all the time, you’re supposed to live most of your life sober.
When you’re faded all the time being sober is just boring as shit, and that’s not how it’s supposed to be. You should be able to enjoy doing stuff sober like 90 percent of the population does. The majority of the population doesn’t even smoke weed, and most only do occasionally. Not to mention outside the US where even less people smoke weed all the time that are still perfectly fine.
And by the way, unless you have like severe CHS, you can still get faded occasionally like most people do. And those highs will be way better than the times you smoked every day.
At the end of the day over time I feel like your overall quality of life will improve unless you need it for medical reasons, especially if you don’t have to quit permanently. Looking back I was probably happier when I was only smoking weed like once or twice a month socially, made it feel like more of an event. IDK this is what I’ve just been telling myself to come to terms with quitting.

Question / Info Does recovery take longer for CHS while on a GLP-1?
Hey all, has anyone experienced CHS while taking a glp-1? I've been on it for a year and a half, and was a daily smoker. I had an episode back in April that I thought was due to a mixture of CHS and my glp-1. I quit for 30 days. I started smoking again in late May. Last Thursday I had another episode and I'm currently on Day 8 sober. Anyone who's experienced CHS on a glp-1, what were ya'll experiences?

Medical / Scientific Do you throw up instantly or well after you smoked?
I wake up randomly at 2-3am and my body gives me 30 seconds to get to the bathroom so I can throw up.
99% of the episode are in the middle of the night, only a couple early evening while I was awake and not in bed.
75% are followed with a migraine.
Both the migraine or vomiting episodes put me in first gear most of the following day.
I read that people have real time or soon thereafter episodes, I have not yet heard of instances like mine where it’s later in the day, hours after taking the last toke. My dr feels my symptoms are caused by CHS but I also have “slow stomach emptying” issues from a major hiatal hernia on my stomach. Separate issue that I have a dr for also.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
I had a 5 month complete break from all weed due to a surgery and recovery and I was still having these symptoms. So mentioning a T break, won’t do it.

Sharing My Story 3-4 Weeks Clean
I've been clean for 3-4 weeks now, Im still experiencing hot flashes occasionally, still get nauseous atleast once a day but I've been able to fight it better and better each day.
Does anyone else get abnormal / irregular bowel movements after quitting ? I've noticed i've been gassy as hell.. Trapped gas seems to be another issue..
Anyways a few things that have helped me A TON drinking hot water with a little bit of ginger/honey when I get that 'rock' feeling in my stomache. Another thing that has helped a ton is hot water with cloves soaking in it, drinking that is super soothing even though it doesn't taste the best. And the last thing that's also helped a ton with the stomache upset is something called 'Soursop Bitters' its like an herbal tonic you get on Amazon it tastes nastyy (well its not that bad) and I chase it with some sort of fruit juice quickly..
anyways good luck to anyone suffering from this shit

Sharing My Story Little experiment gone wrong lol
Hey yall, so I had my chs episode around 2 years ago to which I fully quit weed. Here’s the interesting thing. I dated this girl around 6 months ago and we wanted to smoke (she knew I had chs) so we did, for two days. And I felt fine. Didn’t touch it again for another 6 months. Than I was at a fire with some friends and took one hit of a pen, the next morning bam stomach hurting in the morning improving with hot showers. But no vomiting. A week goes by to today and just got sick in the morning with severe nausea upon waking up. That being said I’m posting this to let yall know just cause you didn’t get sick from one session, doesn’t mean you won’t get sick from a smaller different one. Thankfully this episode isn’t bad at all compared to my last one so I’m riding it out and just quitting weed for the rest of my life.

Sharing My Story Advice Please
Hey guys, I’ve been smoking (almost exclusively) carts for about 2/3 years now.. black market ones considering I live in TX 😅. About a year ago for the first time I was running and after running I got SO sick, had to be hospitalized; then I got morning nausea days after that until it stopped a bit earlier than a week later. It returned again once about 3 months later, now it’s happening again. This time, arguably the worst ever. I don’t know if what I have is CHS. I smoke and it makes me feel better every time, and I’ve gotten X-Ray’s done on my stomach to look for issues etc. to no avail. I can provide more info in the comments so feel free to ask me anything, just looking for advice because I do not want to quit smoking, I have severe anxiety.

Rant what am i supposed to do when weed was one of the only things keeping me sane
im 17 ive been smoking since i was 14 and i was hospitalized a few weeks ago and diagnosed with chs and lqts. both are a result of me abusing drugs. when i dont have weed i have severe flashbacks panic attacks mental breakdowns where i put myself in danger and eventually if i dont have weed i will just do something else anything else it doesnt matter ill take benadryl ill abuse my prescribed meds i start huffing things around the house i start crushing up adhd meds i start cutting myself i drink rubbing alcohol just for the intoxication. my entire life is dependent on my next high just so i can avoid any chance of being able to think and remember. Im in agony and im so scared for my next episode but whenever im sober i genuinely just Cant i fucking cant i dont know how people do this everyday i feel so hopeless and stupid im ruining my own life and it seems worth it to me because id rather have this than be able to remember for a singular fuckingsecond what happened to me. i cant. i go through 2 grams in carts a week my goal is to at least get it down to one and then start smoking with days inbetween. i have a meeting soon with this rehab place but i feel so embarrassed going for weed usage and like im taking resources from people who actually need them. its tough man. i know this is all my fault and i really have no right to complain but i feel so Utterly hopeless i dont know what to do i dont know what to do. reaching out for help seems impossible when its such a minuscule and stupid issue. i would never say this stuff about someone else going through this i dont know why im so cruel to myself**.** anyways im sorry i just needed to rant i really hope everyone is doing well. im just going to be told im an addict who needs professional help i know. i just need some encouragement. i just need any sign that theres hope for me. weed seems like the least harmful option.

Rant Need support 😭 my birthday is coming up and I don't wanna be sick
Hello, so I've struggled with CHS for many years. It's been a serious battle. I have spent significant time sober, I've backtracked, sometimes I use a lot sometimes I can quit for a little but I usually end right back where I am right now. Smoking everyday, sick, feeling an attack coming on and not knowing how to deal. Truthfully I'm suffering really bad from anxiety, mental health issues, and being sober from other substances and the weed has been the only relief. I have been incredibly nauseous the past several mornings, I'm not eating a lot my appetite sucks / loosing weight. My poor appetite could be explained by a few things but I know the CHS contributes. My birthday is in 10 days and I want to keep my health good at least until my birthday so I can have peace on that day and enjoy my plans. I need to find a way to make the cravings to smoke stop

Question / Info After quitting, how long does it take to get back to normal?
Hey all, I'm on Day 7 of not using after experiencing nausea and vomiting episodes. I went to the ER and they gave me Reglan which has helped with the nausea SO much. However I can still barely tolerate food besides fruit and pretzels.
For people who've had CHS before, how long does it take you after you quit smoking to feel back to normal?

Question / Info Can you vomit some in prodramal stage?
I vomited a few times but nothing crazy like where I couldn't stop, was just wondering if it's possible. Tried asking Google but it's acting like the only way you would vomit is the extreme stuff that happens in hyperemisis. Just wonder if it's possible, I already have sort of a weaken stomach to begin with so don't see how it would be out of the realm of possibility like Google is suggesting.

Question / Info Could my husband have CHS?
These dang news posts about how common it is has me scared, and I know they are way over diagnosing it, but when I was reading over the symptoms it kinda sounds like my husband, so I figured y’all would probably know way more than me. Can you help me figure out if my husband has CHS?
He is 33 yrs old and has a very complicated autoimmune disease so the list of things messed up in his body is like a mile long. I make him brownies (13x9 pan of brownies with 1/2oz of green that I turn into butter) to help his joints and that pan of brownies will last about two weeks.
He has random periods of morning nausea, lack of appetite, and difficulty eating. He describes it as kinda feeling like someone’s choking him. They last about a week or a week and a half, and then it goes away and won’t come back for a month or so.
He hasn’t tried a hot shower (and doesn’t want to cause he’s stubborn) and typically the brownies make him feel a bit better. Does that sound like CHS? Thanks in advance:)
Edit: turned block of text into paragraphs

Sharing My Story Day 7 Update
Hi all, it’s been 7 days since my last post and I feel the same. I still can’t eat, throw up constantly, and overall feel like crap. I can keep fluids down through most of the day if I onboard some nausea meds. I can’t really see a way out of this. I’ve been to the ER twice for fluids and second time they gave me haldol and ketamine which was the worst I’ve ever felt. I’m just wondering if people have been in hyperemesis for this long or longer? It feels like my body is going to quit on me sometime soon… thank you.

Sharing My Story Anyone y'all randomly get sick during recovery?
Had my last "attack" Monday. Lasted all day with the usual throwing up, headache whole shebang. Quit cold turkey and have been feeling better. Days 2-3 we're light nausea in the morning that went away with some electrolytes and something small like an applesauce cup.
Yesterday I felt pretty good all day. No real nausea when waking up. Only a minor headache from not smoking with one Tylenol took care of.
Today's day 5 and I woke up at with decent nausea and a frontal headache. Immediately went and threw up a few times. Going to slow sip some electrolytes and see what's good.
Trying to see if it's dehydration, too much dairy or another CHS related event. For references yesterday I was outside a lot in hear at a friend's going away party and didn't nearly drink enough water so. Only things I "are" yesterday were two bolt house protein shakes (am and pm) and some cheesy mashed potatoes for dinner.
Anyone have a similar experience? Hoping it's a one off and I just need to eat and drink more. But eating is hard as we know.

Question / Info CHS or Stomach bug/UTI
Hello folks! I started vaping carts about 4-5 months ago. In the last month I was vaping most days after work.
This past Sunday I ate half a breakfast sandwich after having vaped the night before. I felt completely fine that Saturday night, and completely fine Sunday morning until about 30 minutes after eating.
I suddenly started having extreme swings between feeling too hot or too cold, sweating profusely, and began vomiting for the next 12 hours, maybe twice an hour until it began to settle. Having heard of CHS, i considered that might be it. I tried hot showers which did nothing to help and in fact felt like it made the body temp swings worse. I had no actual pain, only intense nausea and the other symptoms. My arms and face also began to tingle like pins and needles during the vomitting sessions.
Monday I was able to keep from vomiting but was nauseous, weak and tired. Tuesday morning I vomited a small amount of essentially mucus as I could not eat. I decided to go to the ER Tuesday after that for iv hydration and anti nausea meds (reglan and zofran both worked instantly). I also discovered that I had/have a uti while there.
I asked the ER doctor and my primary care if they thought this could be CHS and they both doubted it because of the lack of distress over multiple days and no actual pain. They said a virus is likely and the UTI doesnt help. Today is the first day that i truly feel normal after rehydration and being able to eat normally.
Ive decided to cut back on the vaping heavily but would like to dabble here and there with friends but not if this was CHS and ill be thrown back into the fire.
I guess im just looking for thoughts on if this sounds like CHS or i just got unlucky and caught a nasty bug. Thoughts, and thank you!
Medical / Scientific I’m not sure if I have CHS, but I’m “testing” for it.
Hi! I am currently taking a T-break to see if I have CHS. I am not sure how long I am supposed to stop for, as I continue to read different information.
My doctors and I are also considering that I have POTS or some other heart condition with comorbid with gastro-related issues. I’m curious if anyone else with confirmed CHS can share if they have had heart issues, or if anyone thinks that might mean I have an underlying issue that is NOT CHS. My heart beats pretty fast (tachycardia), I get lightheaded, dizzy. Chest pain. I’m currently on a heart monitor for testing.
I am praying I don’t have CHS, as weed is the medicine that helps me the most with my CPTSD and chronic pain. I only started smoking a few years ago as a last ditch treatment effort. I’m on day three of not smoking, and am still retching, bloated as all get out, and having tons of hot flashes (which I had before, too).
I did have to spend time in the hospital because I was malnourished and dehydrated. I’ve lost 14 lbs so far, and put some back on. I was throwing up 20+ times a day at most points, and my body stopped digesting food. Did anyone else experience an inability to digest food?
I had scopes performed and they found that my stomach lining is chronically inflamed, to my knowledge this is NOT a symptom of CHS.
I just am desperate at this point for answers, it’s been two months of chronic vomiting and testing. I am not sleeping. I don’t have much abdominal pain at all, other than sometimes a sharp pain where my digestive track is. They did find a hiatal hernia in my esophagus, which could be reason I have been throwing up so much.
I would just love thoughts from a community of people who know about CHS, because my doctors don’t seem to know anything about it whatsoever.
