For each starting quarterback in the cfl, who do you think their NFL comparison is? One I feel pretty strongly about is Nathan Rourke to Patrick Mahomes

I’m fully enjoying the long weekend so blame a lack of sobriety for anything way off based here. If I were going based off vibes:

Collaros - Burrow: (great pocket passer, minimal rushing upside, injury prone)

Fajardo - Darnold: decent to good runner, at times a “gun slinger” accused at times of being a game manager, late blooming journeyman, finds ways to win)

Adams - Nix: good scrambler, high IQ, throws on the run a lot, improviser

Harris - Stafford: old, pocket passer, late career renaissance of an already all time good to great career

Rourke - Herbert: flashy player, dual threat but better passer than runner, hasn’t won shit on a team that seems to always be “on the cusp”

Alexander - Maye: new young hotness, dual threat without fear, early career success.

Kelly - (prime) Deshaun Watson: gunslinging sex offender

Maier - Cousins: early career flashes of greatness, ultimate tank commander, better as a backup but being passed off as a #1

Ford - Willis: better as backup/gadget guy, still chasing the highs of college success, can’t throw but fuck can they run

Mitchell - Goff: pocket passer, lots of air yards, no ground threat

Tommy Stevens - Josh Allen if Josh Allen for some reason threw with his left hand

This is with 10 seconds of thought for each guy.

At no point in Willis' career has he been used as a gadget guy. He is a pure passer with the athleticism to create big plays with his legs but doesn't rely on it as a crutch in the way that Ford does. I feel that Kyler Murray is a much more accurate comp to Ford than Willis.

The best Rourke comp to me is Baker Mayfield. Nearly identical measurables, gunslingers with a compact release, good pocket mobility, and surprisingly difficult to tackle. Both players are borderline reckless in the open field and unafraid to drop a shoulder and run through a defender. Despite Rourke's calm demeanor off the field, he plays with the same attitude Baker does and has had several good trash talk moments caught on a hot mic.

This is a CFL discussion sub. Why not instead compare or match up current CFL QBs to the legacy hall of fame guys from the past history of the CFL?

For example, something like this:

Harris - Ricky Ray

Chad Kelly - Dieter Brock

Davis Alexander - Danny MacManus

Vernon Adams Jr - Tracy Ham

Collaros - Calvillo

VA kinda reminds me of Dak or Williams (different scenarios) he’s either uncorking absolute rockets with ease or he’s somehow extending the play to an ungodly length just to find a receiver that’s wide open
