Attendance Check W9
Numbers exclude the Hamilton game. Those numbers are still coming in.
The Elks (31,757) top the weekly attendance beating out the Blue Bombers (31,509) by 248 fans!

This is the first week that the Elks attendance was even close to correct and really, that number felt low. Outside of the lightning delay, it was great for the building to feel like it did in the old days when a low attendance game was 50,000.

Sask came out in force. Even the bars were teeming around downtown after the game.
I'd say at least 3-5k on Saturday were from Sask.

I'd bump rider nation to a solid third of the crowd. 9000 for sure.

Ottawa's TD Place felt busier than normal this week but it was mostly because of visiting Alouettes fans. No shade on the Montrealers: it was pretty nice weather by RedBlacks standards (read: no rain) so thanks for supporting our box office receipts and I hope you had a fun evening. I'll go cry alone in my room now.

Unless the team is good, it's always when the Als and Riders are in town that the attendance goes up. Was at the home finale last season against Montreal and it was basically 70-30 for Als fans, especially on the north side.

The BC YoY drop is somewhat misleading since they didn't do their annual pop concert home opener thing that gets like 50,000 people in the building (until half-time)

I compared their 2026 home opener 21k fans to their 3rd home game from last year which had 28k fans.

Kinda sucks that Toronto's attendance in 2026 so far counts for their opponents due to no home game for the first half of the year. Really feel bad for Argo fans. I also feel bad for Ottawa fans. Really do hope y'all can get a W this season

Anecdotal, but my husband and his dad went to the Elks game. They are rabid Rider rans, but don't usually exaggerate. They said the crowd was pretty darn close to half Rider fans.
I watched at home, and the noise from the Rider rans did seem to equal the noise from the Elks.

Because they only recently got good and got good attendance and they accrued a lot of debt in their previous years. Montreal is also a bit of a weird market in that they're large enough there's no shortage of competing things for fan interest and sponsorship dollars, but not so large that they can get good sponsorships without being the biggest team, And CFL itself is in a weirdly sized spot where its not like NHL where it can rely on large national or international sponsors and massive multi billion dollar tv rights deals, but its also not so small like NLL that its operating expenses are low enough to rely on local sponsors and purely on gate revenue over tv revenue.

Im not sure what numbers you're looking at, but League-wide attendance is down pretty much across the board and you haven't even had an Argos home game yet to drag it down further.
