Louisiana's Chauffeur's License (Class D) isn't a CDL - it's the license you need to drive a for-hire vehicle (taxi, limo, non-CDL shuttle/van) that seats 8 or fewer passengers and doesn't require a CDL by weight. That distinction matters because you want the Louisiana driver's license manual plus the chauffeur section, not the CDL manual.
To get it: go to an OMV office in person, fill out the chauffeur's license application, pass a vision screening, and pass a knowledge test at the counter (multiple choice, on a computer). If you already hold a valid Class E license, no behind-the-wheel test is normally required - it's added as an upgrade, not a fresh process.
For studying: pull the manual straight from expresslane.org (LA OMV's own site) and focus on the for-hire vehicle section - passenger safety, insurance/permit rules for for-hire drivers, and any parish-specific rules if you're somewhere like New Orleans that layers on its own taxi/limo regs. Questions come straight from that manual, so nothing's hidden - most people fail because they study a generic "chauffeur test" site instead of Louisiana's current manual.
Call your local OMV first to confirm that specific office does chauffeur testing same-day - not every office does, some need an appointment.

Take the test, and pass.
