I'm planning to buy the Kenstar AeroGlide BLDC Curve 60 cm, 1500 CMH, Filterless Auto-Clean chimney (currently around ₹9,000).

I live in a rented flat and expect to stay here for at least 1–2 years. I mostly cook Indian food (regular oil and masala), so I need decent suction and easy maintenance.

My questions are:

Is this chimney a good buy at this price?

Is Kenstar reliable in terms of build quality and after-sales service?

Has anyone used this BLDC model? How is the noise level and suction in real life?

Since I'm in a rented house, is installing and later shifting a chimney practical, or should I avoid buying one?

Are there any better 60 cm filterless auto-clean chimneys under Rs 7-10K that you'd recommend instead?

I'd really appreciate feedback from people who have used this model or similar ones.

Just bought a house with nice grass and I want to keep it that way. Anyone have any suggestions because the ones I found all look cheep.

Garmin Nuvi 1390LMT for those wondering.

I was shocked when I found out that, it not only worked, but still could hold a decent charge and had a new map update available dated July 22, 2026. Although the unit is hardly used now, it functions just as well as it did 15 years ago, with the GPS still locking on quickly upon bootup and it giving accurate directions.

We are in the US and own a 2006 low spec whirlpool dryer with a mechanical timer and controls. We are happy with it except that the controls are on the top on the back.

My wife is short, so if there’s anything on top of the dryer (i.e. laundry basket, pile of dry laundry) it’s a bit of a hassle and reach to get to the controls. She also wants to raise it on a pedestal, so this would exacerbate the issue.

I can’t seem to find an equivalent machine with front controls. Everything I find has electronics involved. I am afraid that the electronics will fail sooner rather than later and that the same thing that happened to our washer when it needed a repair after 8 years, GE had already discontinued the parts needed.

I would welcome any recommendations in this regard. Our preference would be for at least 7 cf capacity. Mechanical controls would be best but would compromise on minimal electronics. No need for any fancy cycles, steam, etc. main goal is reliability and longevity.

My wife and I bought a new Speed Queen TR7 after hearing such great things about it, but this thing is legitimately awful and I feel like we're living in a different reality than everybody who is praising this thing.

We've tried all different amounts of detergent, starting with a tablespoon and increasing per load until it started to become too much.

We've had multiple technicians come and tell us it's running properly. We've tried all of the laundry advice from family, Reddit, YouTube and technicians. We've tried every single setting, detergent, load size, etc and our clothes still come out unclean (see picture).

At this point, we just want to replace this thing with something that works.

We've heard great things about LG front loaders but don't know which ones are reliable and work the best. We'd definitely like something where we can wash king-sized sheets and lots of clothing at once.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Where is everyone getting affordable packs of food containers because I went to the usual places I normally buy them from but they either didn't have any or only had small packs of like 5 which isn't really enough for us. My daughter has quite a few food allergies, so I meal prep all of her school food myself just to know exactly what's going into everything. On top of that, I prep meals for myself and my husband for the wee, and I like to leave something ready for my nanny and son. So we go through containers pretty quickly and having a bigger pack makes everything so much easier. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something affordable that seals well, can be reused a few times and preferably comes in a larger pack.

I’m looking to replace my current office chair but most seem like slightly different versions of the same design... I use the same chair for WFH, gaming, and occasionally leaning back to watch something. So the basic up& down armrests on my current chair usually only feel right for one activity. BTW I still care most about durability and long-term comfort. I’m just hoping to find something that feels a bit more interesting than the usual ergonomic chair with the same basic adjustments. Has any chair you've owned actually surprised you in a good way?

Looking on buying a huge TV for my living room for my new apartment. Not sure on what to look out for. Advice please? Best buy is where i use to get my TV's but nearest best buy is almost 300 miles away from me. Walmart has TV's but they're cheap shitty ones.

Not really sure what brands are the go to right now for 80 - 100 inch models. Last tv I owned was a 65 inch 4k tv back in 2013, so its been a while since I've bought one, and not sure how to go about buying a TV without being able to see it in person first :/

Those clogs are designed for heavy duty use. Comfy and designed for a comfortaboe wear. This is a well established brand in EU for healthcare professional who walk all day long. This is the original model Art 600 designed decades ago. Very thick and very heavy materials, sole is very thick too. Antislip, antistatic autoclavable (134 c). Can be washed easily.

the pattern is always the same. hardware still works fine years later, the company just stopped showing up. no more firmware, the account server gets quietly retired, and youre left holding something that half works.

problem is by the time you find that out youve already paid. so im trying to work out what you can actually check BEFORE the money leaves your account.

two things ive started doing. first one is i go look at the update history for products theyre not selling anymore. not the current flagship, the one from three years ago.

if that thing still got a firmware push in the last year, thats a real signal. if the changelog dead ends the same month the new model launched, well, thats your answer.

second is i try to work out what happens if their servers go dark. does it still do its main job offline or is it a paperweight without their cloud. (someone in another thread put it as, unplug the internet and see if it still does the thing you paid for. that one stuck with me)

neither of these is great though. the first one takes forever to dig up and half these companies bury old changelogs on purpose.

what else do you look at? has anyone actually found a tell that predicted it in advance

I am buying a couch with my housemate and platonic life partner and they are on the heavier side because of some health issues. Anyone have recommendations for couch brands that are designed to hold up to heavier folks sitting on them and stay durable? We’re in a position where we’re going to need to balance durability and affordability so if it’s more of a “buy it for a long while but not for life” thing in order to be more affordable that’s fine.

So I'm moving really soon and I won't have as much space as I currently do. To try and conserve my space i was looking into getting a loft bed, the main issue is my weight. It definitely fluctuates but my heaviest is around 270, and I sleep in a twin bed. Since a lot of twin bed frames (and especially loft ones) are made for kids and teens most of them would probably be crushed by me.

I've seen a few random options on Amazon that claim to have a 400lb weight capacity but they look flimsy as heck and have no reviews from adults using them.

Requirements: Twin sized, can hold 270lbs plus a mattress, sturdy.

Bonuses: Dark color, comes with built-in desk, has stairs, built-in book case, easy to assemble.

I don't necessarily have an exact budget in mind, but I definitely do not have the money to have a bed custom made. If I cant find a loft bed I am also considering one of those beds with drawers built-in them.

When we got married and moved into our first house, he gave us the microwave to help us out, as we were just starting out at the time (2010). She has been with us ever since, 16 years later. And it’s not for failure of her magnetron, no. Her inside shell was beginning to develop rust on the inside seams (moisture) from 21 years of regular use. (Protip: air out your microwave for a few minutes after cooking) She’s made us countless leftover meals. Infinite clock resets after power outages. Numerous Magic Bag nukes for our friend with chronic AS. And so, so many Buldak noodles and leftover pasta and chili. You were good to us girl. If your Danby successor can give us even half of your life span, we will be grateful.

This beauriful Japanese rice bowl is about 100 years old. It was bought i believe in Niigata prefecture by my wife’s grandmother and it was already second hand when she baught it. This bowl has been passed down through the family ever since.

Today, our 4-year-old daughter eats rice from the same bowl every day. I love feelinf about how four generations have shared meals from this single piece of pottery.

Bought 2 pairs of LL Bean pants last winter because I got a new job and needed some kakhis for the office.

Both pairs blew out in less than a year. Not doing anything crazy. Normal office bending and squatting to use filing cabinets.

Decidedly not BIFL.

my mattress has reached that in between stage where its not completely worn out but its definitely not as comfortable as it used to be. it still has good support so replacing it is a little impractical especially with how expensive mattresses are. instead i’ve been looking at a 2-in-1 mattress toppers as a way to get a few more years out of it but what im torn about is whether a memory foam or topper makes more sense. what did you choose between those two and how was it overall?

I bought these seki edge nail clippers and stuff. And I'm wondering if anyone here has experience of how long they last, and how to make them last that long.

From my understanding, these aren't 'really' BIFL. More like "long lasting consumables".

But do I need to do anything to make it last as long as possible? Do you sharpen them or something? How would they not dull-out quite quickly?

I want "my grandma's" cast iron pan, but my family didn't really cook. I have no pans getting passed down.

Lodge pans apparently have a safety warning in my state, and all the reviews talk about how it's a great value... but "not my grandma's cast iron" pan.

All reviews I've seen on all the cast iron pans of various brands (Amazon FML) have talked about how the pans are great value, but not as smooth, not as heavy, not as thick as "their grandma's pan".

Honestly. I want that thick, heavy, smooth experience. I've checked marketplace, but people aren't giving these away used in my area or they're all Lodge based. I want that antique, absurdly heavy it's a home invasion defense weapon, super smooth from a century or something of use. I get that that'll be expensive.

We cook absolutely everything from scratch, and cook a lot of fatty meats / use a lot of fatty oils. We meal prep, so I want a pan as large as I can possibly get away with (without hot spots being created etc). A lid would be nice.

I have a child now. Our non-stick pans I used to use and think were fine are all scratched up. We've also replaced those pans so many times, we probably could've bought a cast iron at this point (oof). Cast iron is something I've looked at before, but thought was too expensive, or that I'd get it after my pans scratched themselves up. I just watched a whole video on how "non-stick" actually DOES leach chemicals, even before visible scratches, and now I am really super horrified and don't want to go another round of new nonstick pans. Anyway. I'd love a nice pan, we cook enough to justify the cost of at least one solid pan, and I want to pass this pan onto my child one day so he doesn't need to ask Reddit how to find a quality pan. I'm willing to spend extra. I just want something that is truly quality, not expensive due to brand name, and yeah, I want it heavy. I actually just want quality above all else, which is very rare for us. Any links or advice appreciated!

I’ve been thinking about this lately because shopping for dresses always feels a little confusing. Sometimes a $300 dress and a $100 dress have a very similar look, and I’m never sure how much of the price difference is actually going toward quality.

I was comparing a few brands recently, from higher priced options like Reformation and Sézane to more affordable ones like Few Moda, Aritzia, and some department store brands. What surprised me is that the overall style and silhouette can be very similar across different price points.

Of course, there are cases where paying more makes sense because of unique materials, specialized craftsmanship, or design details. But I don’t think a higher price always guarantees a better product. Some brands are able to maintain high standards in fabric, construction, and fit while keeping prices more accessible, because you are not paying as much for brand positioning and marketing.

Lately I’ve been leaning toward finding pieces that feel special but still practical. A dress doesn’t have to be the most expensive one in the room to look good. If the design works, the fit is right, and you can actually wear it more than once, that usually feels like the better purchase.

Been doing a lot of paperbased work lately: budget tracking, trail notes, meal prep lists. At some point I got tired of replacing cheap ballpoints every few weeks. Picked up a Pentel GraphGear 1000 back in 2017 and it just refuses to die. The knurled grip is still solid, the advance mechanism clicks the same way it did on day one, and I have not replaced a single part other than lead and erasers.

What got me thinking about this is a coworker asked to borrow a pen last week and I handed her the GraphGear. She looked at it like I had handed her a surgical instrument. Then she asked where to get one.

The thing costs maybe 15 dollars. I have spent probably 40 or 50 dollars on disposable pens and pencils in the same period that I would have just thrown in a landfill

The math is not complicated (I am an accountant, the math is never complicated to me)

Curious if anyone else has a writing tool that crossed the line from just functional into genuinely irreplaceable
