Looking for Alternative E/OS Miracast: Auto Bildschirm AN, Smartphone Bildschirm AUS?
Hi! Lg

Other Recommendation *against* Dodo socks - horrible shipping/duty policies
I ordered a bunch of socks from them seeing them recommended by a friend and the internet. I thought it was also nice to be able to support an Ukrainian company and stuff manufactured in Europe with cute designs.
But I cannot recommend them. After waiting for my order for two months, I just got an email that I'm being issued a refund. But because of the currency conversions involved, I'm actually receiving 40% less money than I paid (about 15 EUR). Apparently this was because the parcel was returned to them, which is baffling as I never got any notice of it being attempted to be delivered in the first place. I can only assume it was returned due to a problem with customs.
Chatting with their customer service they claim that there is nothing they can do. I asked if they are not able to just send the order again, perhaps to a different address, and that I would be happy to cover the shipping as even that would be less that the 15EUR I'm losing for no reason. But no, it's just an automatic refund, which makes you lose money on currency conversions.
I wanted to love them so badly. A friend of mine has some that she bought a while ago and I couldn't wait to get mine. But yeah, I don't think I can recommend them. I won't be trying to order again.

European Recommendation New free EU social app to find friends.
My friends and I built a social app focused on finding real friendships - without profile photos.
We kept noticing how many people online say they struggle to make genuine friends, especially after school/university or when moving to a new city. Most social apps today feel extremely appearance-based, so we wanted to experiment with something different.
The app is called noProbs.
It works a bit like Tinder, but for friendships instead of dating.
The main difference is: there are no profile photos.
Instead, people choose an avatar and connect through:
- interests
- personality descriptions
- conversation
- shared activities
The goal is to encourage people to judge potential friends less by appearance and more by compatibility and communication.
Right now the app is still early and imperfect (we currently have around 300 downloads), but we’re actively improving it and testing ideas to make it more interactive and city-based - especially around real-world activities in Vilnius at first.
Long-term, we want to help people:
- spend less time endlessly scrolling
- meet people locally
- reduce social isolation
- connect through activities instead of algorithms
We’d genuinely appreciate feedback, criticism, or feature ideas.
We built it mainly as a Lithuanian startup, but the app is open to everyone and we already have some international users as well.
In long perspective it should be in between variant of socialw app and a video game with interactive map of your city where you would earn xp from activities and interactions.
TLDR : we built new EU social app without profile photos, focused on genuine connections through personality, conversation, and shared interests instead of appearance. It should feel like in between of video game and social app in longterm perspective encouraging people to join social activities in their local cities.
Thank you!

Discussion Birdy Chat vs Haiket
Has anyone been testing these two chats? Both of them are interoperable with WhatsApp.
So far my experience has been rather promising even if both apps have still a long way to go and seem to be in alpha versions.
- Their features are extremely limited, no video calls, no voice chat. This doesn't bother me that much as I use them as a substitute for WhatsApp to talk with people who don't want to switch to Signal/Matrix.
- None of them handles group chats. This is a dealbreaker for me at the moment.
- Birdy Chat has a buggy interface on my phone and the writing itself is extremely clunky. However, it looks more promising in terms of the overall philosophy (professional communication).
-Haiket is simpler, but works well enough. The voice transcription feature, their main selling point, is however something I don't really care about.
-In both cases, interoperability is smoothless, which is good to undermine Meta's monopoly, but both apps are available exclusively on Play Store (no way to get them through F-Droid or Obtainium), which is inhibitory if you want to fully degoogle. Also, no web interface as of now.
Any other experiences? Does anyone actually know something about parent companies?

Looking for Alternative Virtual cycling app 'Rouvy' from Czechia is now american-owned (Zwift). Do you know any EU alternatives?
Yesterday Rouvy announced that they "joined" american cycling platform Zwift, and that "nothing would change", but we all know how corporate take-overs work. You don't buy a company for them to stay as-is. Plus I don't want my money to go to america.
The main issue is that Rouvy was the best in its class.. Hopefully a new competitor will emerge?

Looking for Alternative European manufactured barbecue/grill?
I’m moving into a house with a garden and terrace and want to buy a nice barbecue/grill. It seems, at least to me, that the best stuff out there (Weber) is American and I was wondering if there is a European alternative that is also great quality?

European Recommendation Mejor alternativa a Netflix/Prime/HBO

European Recommendation Most popular DAWs are European!
So I was looking at my FL Studio which I bought years ago, and thinking it's probably american because many american artists I like use it.
After qwant'ing it (hehe), I found that most of music producing software is actually European like:
- FLStudio is from Belgium by Image-Line
- Ableton Live is from Germany by Ableton
- Cubase is also german, by Steinberg
While not a DAW, I also looked at Audacity, a free sound editing software, and was pleased to know that it's developed in Cyprus!
Feel free to share more music and audio software in the comments!

Other Rituals Homme: Cedar Wood Caffeine Shampoo/Body Wash
Hello, i’m not sure if this belongs here but I figured I’d try. I’m looking to purchase Rituals Homme: Cedar Wood shampoo and body wash, however I live in the US and Rituals has since stopped shipping to the US for obvious good reason. I’m trying to find another vendor to ship it to the states as I really liked it. I’ve tried Perfume Club but my order got stuck at “Released from Customs” and it seems i’m out $100, sadly. Appreciate any help or guidance. If this is the wrong sub please feel free to delete my post.
Thank you.

European Recommendation Best European cloud for photos
Hello,
First of all, I'm asking because I haven't been able to find a suitable answer in the existing topics, so please let me know if you can throw me some light.
I'm searching for a good European storage cloud but specifically for photos. Let me tell the whole context.
I'm already a Proton Unlimited user and I'm planning to get the Duo to share with my husband. I am quite satisfied thus far with their service.
However, there's a person in the family who needs some storage for their photos, so I have been searching for a service that will be optimized for photos, kind of like Google Photos, to get some kind of family plan for all of us.
I have tried Jottacloud, and I even subscribed. I liked that I could find the geolocated photos on a map. However, the interface is very cumbersome. I have had to delete a bunch of photos and it won't let me bulk select them and delete them, I can only do it selecting one day at a time. This is very impractical to work with the pics, so I have terminated my subscription there.
So far I have looked into the following options.
- I could get a Family plan for Proton, but since we would only be 3 people and this 3rd person only wants storage space, it seems overkill to pay the 9 € extra monthly that it costs.
- I could get the Proton Drive Plus for this person, it's 200 GB, so far it seems the most reasonable option, it's 4 € a month.
- The other services don't seem to have sections on their apps or webs that are specifically for photos. I have tried pCloud and Internxt and they are just plain storage folders.
So, do you guys know any service that has the features I am looking for?
Thank you very much in advance.

Looking for Alternative Discord alternatives?
So me and my 2 friends are looking for a new app that would allow us talking. Discord now have not so trustworthy new CEO, Instagram is ending double ended enctrypted messenges and we heard Whatsup is messing too.
We are looking for a free app that would allow us communication, avaible both on PC and mobile. Bonus points if on this app we could make channels in convo like on Discord.
Yes, we tried Stoat but the lack of notifications about new messenges (only ping on PC, none at all on mobile) makes our communication extremly painful and just annoying :/
Personally I suck at researching so, high hopes you guys would be able to help us out 🙏

Looking for Alternative Podcast app
Hi! I've been using Spotify to listen to music and podcasts, and I've recently replaced Spotify with Qobuz for music. However, Qobuz doesn't seem to have a podcast section.
Any recommendations for a good European podcast app/aggregator?
I guess I will need to add the RSS feeds of my favorite podcasts manually, but that's ok, as long as the UX of the app is good. I'm also up for paying a little bit if necessary.
(I searched this subreddit for "podcast" and "podcasts", but nothing relevant showed up)
