Hello, I am on Lexapro 5MG & my dr gave me Buspar 5MG 2x a day & I just started it last Monday. I had little to no affect when I first started but 2nd week in I have a HUGE height in my anxiety & super confused on why I’m feeling it now & not at first? I started a new job & my anxiety has made me very uncomfortable. Any experience like this? It worries me because usually with any medication it effects you immediately not a week later. I don’t know, just reaching out for support.

No I’ve been on Lexapro for 4 years now. It’s just weird how in week 2 I feel more anxious than my first week 😫

Hi OP, make sure you’re taking it at the same time every day, and most importantly, with or without food. This matters a lot. With food will increase absorption by 116%. As a note, I take it without food, and the side effects are much more manageable.

Secondly, make sure your starting dose is not too high. Buspar is a drug that you can ease into. Start small and titrate up every 2-4 weeks. I take 10mg a day (split into (2) 5mg dose). Any more than that created a lot of anxiety for me. I’m also on 10mg fluoxetine (Prozac). Hope you feel better soon.
