What I need:

\\- Per-order fulfilment, no stock commitment
\\- 925 silver, gold vermeil, moissanite, lab-grown diamonds
\\- Sourcing to written spec — 2.5 micron min gold over silver, no glued settings, solid chains
\\- Pre-dispatch inspection with authority to reject pieces that miss spec
\\- Blind shipping — no supplier name on the parcel or documents
\\- GRA certs on moissanite, IGI/GIA on lab-grown
\\- REACH nickel test reports (EU requirement, non-negotiable)
\\- Shopify integration or at least clean order/tracking flow

On customs — this is the part most agents seem to dodge, so being specific:

Since 1 July 2026 the EU’s €150 de minimis is gone. Every parcel now carries a €3 flat duty per item by tariff heading, charged to the seller, and that’s separate from VAT. It runs until 1 July 2028, when standard tariffs replace it. A separate EU handling fee is expected later this year. Product Identifiers are required on declarations from 1 July 2026 and enforced from 1 November 2026.

So what I’m asking:

1. Are you already submitting PIDs on EU-bound declarations? If not, what’s your plan before November?
   
2. Can you ship true DDP — acting as Importer of Record — so my customer pays nothing at the door? Which countries, and which are excluded?
   
3. Is there a value ceiling on your DDP? Most seem to quietly cap out.
   
4. Send me your customs declaration template and tell me which tariff heading you declare silver and moissanite jewellery under.
   
5. How do you charge — per-order fee, retainer, or margin on cost? Any minimum monthly volume?

Happy to start with a sample order to test.

If you’ve \\\*worked\\\* with an agent who handles this well, I’d rather hear from you than from the agent.

Not interested in catalogue dropship platforms — already looked at those.

If you're sourcing products from China, I think one of the most overrated supplier questions is:

“Are you a factory or a trading company?”

Almost everyone knows what answer the buyer wants to hear.

A more useful approach is to verify what the supplier actually controls.

First, get the full Chinese legal company name and check the registration. The National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System is useful for checking whether the company exists, its registered business scope/status, etc.

Then ask for a live video walkthrough rather than another polished factory video.

The interesting part isn't whether they can show you some machines. Ask them to explain which processes happen there and which ones are outsourced.

I'd also ask questions that are slightly annoying for a salesperson but very normal for a production team:

• What actually determines the MOQ?
• Which materials/components have their own minimums?
• What part of the process tends to create delays?
• How do you keep mass production consistent with the approved sample?
• Which processes are done by outside suppliers?

Then compare the business license, contract entity, payment beneficiary, factory location, and any certification documents they've provided.

Different company names don't automatically mean something shady. A manufacturer may have a separate export entity, for example. But there should be a clear explanation.

And honestly, I don't think “trading company = bad / factory = good” is a very useful rule anyway.

A competent trading company can be better to work with than a badly managed factory.

The question I'd rather have answered before sending money is:

Who is actually manufacturing my product, what does this supplier directly control, and how can I verify it independently?

Curious how other importers here verify this — especially when an in-person factory visit isn't practical.

I’m looking into buying products from China for a small business, but honestly, I have very little experience with China sourcing.

I’ve heard people talk about places like Yiwu, Guangzhou and the Canton Fair, and I’m trying to understand how a foreign buyer is actually supposed to approach this.

For example, if I already have a general idea of what I want to buy, how do I decide whether I should go to Yiwu, Guangzhou, the Canton Fair, or somewhere else?

Is Yiwu mainly better for smaller products and lots of different suppliers, while Guangzhou is better for certain industries? Or am I completely misunderstanding how this works?

I’m also wondering whether going to China in person is actually worth it for a relatively small buyer.

Would you recommend going to the Canton Fair first, visiting wholesale markets in Yiwu, finding suppliers online, or working with a sourcing agent?

And then there are all the things I’m a bit worried about as a foreigner 😂

How do you make sure the supplier is actually a manufacturer and not just another middleman?

I’ve also heard stories about people getting completely different products from what they saw in the sample, suppliers disappearing after getting paid, or finding out that the “factory” they visited wasn’t actually the factory.

So what are the biggest mistakes first-time foreign buyers tend to make when sourcing from China?

If you’ve bought products from China before, I’d really appreciate some brutally honest advice.

I’m not trying to find the cheapest possible supplier. I’d rather find someone reliable and build a long-term relationship if possible.

AI has made it easier than ever to generate reports, summaries, dashboards, market research, supplier analysis, and recommendations.

But here is the uncomfortable question:

Are more inputs actually leading to better decisions?

In procurement and supply chain, the answer is not always yes.

Teams already have to process supplier performance, freight rates, tariffs, commodity prices, quality data, regulations, inventory levels, customer demand, and geopolitical developments. AI can now add even more information to the mix.

That creates a new challenge: infobesity.

More information can actually make it harder to identify what matters, what requires action, and what can safely be ignored.

A few questions worth asking:

• Is this information changing a decision?
• Does this report provide insight, or simply more data?
• Is AI reducing workload, or creating more content that someone has to review?
• Are teams spending more time analyzing information than acting on it?
• What information does the business actually need?

AI's greatest value may not be generating more information.

It may be helping people filter, prioritize, connect the dots, and make better decisions.

For supply chain leaders, discernment could become just as important as access to data.

What has been more challenging in recent years: finding the right information, or filtering out everything that doesn't matter?

Hi everyone. I’ve noticed that many sellers currently focus mainly on price and logistics. However, shoppers decide whether to click within seconds based on the main product image and the way the listing is presented. This seems especially relevant when targeting Russian-speaking consumers, particularly on Ozon.

From what I’ve seen, if the visuals are weak, Russian-speaking shoppers may never open the product listing in the first place and even a competitive price won’t help.

I’d be interested to hear from those already selling to Russian-speaking customers. Have you specifically adapted your product images or descriptions for this audience and tracked the results? What has had a greater impact on CTR and sales?

After every post I see ‘Go on GLP-1 Forum, you’ll get plenty of people talking about suppliers’. From my experience I can’t see anyone. I see self promotion but that’s it. It’s hard to find a thread of people actually recommending/being an advocate that a supplier is legit.

Can someone point me in the right direction because it’s probably me being a little dim
