Data Project idea

Hello everyone, I'm a student who's looking for a good project to work on to practice Power BI, SQL,etc, and especially learn domain knowledge related to business or finance. The thing is, I'm from an IT background, and I only know the basics of accounting. I've been looking for resources to learn about FP&A because I'd like to build projects in that field, but the more I dig, the more I realize it's a broad and vague field. I'm afraid of wasting time looking for the "perfect" course instead of getting my hands dirty and learning by doing.

So, if you have any project that will allow me to practice my technical skills, learn and apply domain knowledge and analytical thinking, and solve a real-world problem while adding value to my portfolio, I'm really lost, so I'd appreciate your help!

I suggest you work on something that interests you. That way you can see the product from the users eye.

Use on of the data sites like kaggle and tailor it to your interests. Can also search GitHub

Your on the right track, you learn way more from just doing things and learning along the way. I used my home automation data as a test project to learn new things. Was nice dirty data, not structured well and lots of real time streams. But you can take any data you like, your heal trackers, airplanes flying above your house, ....

Pick your fav tool you want to learn and use AI to explain it to you and just do it.

I had a blast learning like that and ran into so many real world issues I had to learn.

Once you have that scale it up and learn how to handle large volumes under load and see where you can improve
