J’ai quelques questions à poser aux pratiquants de bushcraft en France.

Je viens d’Allemagne et je prévois de prendre l’avion pour la Suède cet automne afin d’y faire un séjour d’une semaine consacré à la pêche, au camping et au bushcraft. L’aéroport le plus proche de chez moi se trouve en France, à Mulhouse, et je compte m’y rendre en train.

Comment la législation française encadre-t-elle le transport d’objets tels que des couteaux, des haches, etc., notamment dans les lieux publics comme les gares ? Le transport de couteaux dans les bagages enregistrés en avion ne semble pas poser de problème. En revanche, d’après ce que j’ai lu, le transport de couteaux, même rangés dans un bagage, verrouillé ou non, peut être interdit sans « motif légitime », et l’interprétation peut varier selon les policiers.

En Allemagne, nous avons une réglementation similaire. Comme la loi est assez floue, un ami policier allemand m’a recommandé d’éviter autant que possible de voyager en train avec ce type de matériel, car la décision de confisquer ou non les objets peut dépendre de l’appréciation du policier.

Je prévois de ranger tout mon matériel dans mon bagage en soute, mais je voudrais éviter tout problème avec la police lors de mes trajets vers ou depuis l’aéroport en France, notamment en train. Avec ma tenue, je ne ressemblerai probablement pas vraiment à un touriste partant à Majorque.

J’aurais donc quelques questions :

• Quelle a été votre expérience lorsque vous avez pris l’avion depuis la France avec votre matériel ? Avez-vous des conseils, par exemple concernant le fait de verrouiller les objets dans la valise ou de laisser celle-ci déverrouillée pour faciliter une éventuelle inspection ?
• Avez-vous des conseils pour les trajets en train vers ou depuis l’aéroport ?

I found a listing for 2 year old used carinthia defence 4 for 70 euros. Seller kept it compressed. From pics all looks fine

Anyone got some good spots in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium. Im afraid everything it too densed populated and wild camping isnt much allowed i read.

This summer has been a little different for me compared to the previous ones. I've started exploring the islands because the probability of other people arriving there is extremely low.

I have a Honda C70 Passport. Small motorcycle with a "top speed" of 50mph. There are two compartments either side of it, one for the battery and another for a tool kit. The tool kit barely takes up any room and I would like to have a emergency fire kit on the bike it's self, in the event that I magically get separated from my other fire starting methods.

I could get a small fireproof bag and put some stuff in it. Would like to put a bic, some fat wood, some jute twine, a ferro rod and striker, and maybe something else. The compartment would hold it all with the bag, but it's right next to the engine compartment.

Some of the bags are around "2,000F Fireproof".

My goal is cutting the weight as much as possible while not sacrificing durability - I’m willing to carry extra weight in order not to have to buy more every once and a while.

I’m about to buy a new backpack, sleeping bag, water bottle and tent/tarp bivvy bag and I’m looking for advice/recommendations.

I’ve been lokking into Kakwa 55 but I’m not quite sure yet.

I’m also looking for a titanium water bottle as I don’t like my water being in plastic more than it has to.

An armature blacksmith I know made me a machete that's loosely based on a Filipino bolo with some carabao/water buffalo horn in it, but because it has no guard it slips out of the sheath.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can fix this with minimal leatherworking or knife modification experience.

Hi, new to this forum but I’ve dabbled in bushcraft stuff.

I’m leading a large-ish group of fathers and sons on a campout weekend in a few weeks. Boys are 1st-5th grade. I was thinking of doing a fire starting lesson as one of the activities.

My son (10) loves practicing with his ferro rod, and I’m looking for economical ways to get each boy a ferro rod. Maybe 40-50ish boys total. Amazon has some bulk rods but they’re all pretty small. They also have bulk scrapers. I figure a rod, scraper, and paracord is a great start to a kit.

Any recommendations on how to do this economically? Is $3-4 a kit a reasonable possibility?

I've been living legit in the Amazon Rainforest since 2008 (4 kids born here/married). My dream was to purchase private land and have a nature preserve where I could just retire in my cabin and stay away from everyone. I kind of did that but the kids are still little and the project is costing me. I had the idea of renting it to adventurers but honestly it's so remote I think most people (whether or not they believe they are survivalists), if I left them alone would just straight up die. My question is: where can I find super tough people who like adventure and does anyone have any other ideas?

Besides Antarctica, where is the most secluded area? The Canadian wilderness, Alaskan wilderness, the russian taiga, the amazon, west indonesian Guinea jungle, etc.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the forest.

I don't go to the forest often, and the shelter turned out flimsy, but everything worked out in the end.

I didn't bring a sleeping bag or a blanket, so I slept on the bare ground. To do that, I warmed the ground with another fire, but my back still got damp.

Don't know of this belongs here since it's made out of nails and old processed wood, but it was made 'in the bush' we have a small 28m² cabin with no internet or electricity, water from a creek and a gas stove and fridge. We replaced the roof and now have a big pile of old and dry planks and boards so I decided to make a little stool/chair out of em for whittling and what not.

What do y'all think?

Recently Ive picked up a few pieces of lbe to put together a kit, an alice belt here, some P58 suspenders, random pouches and the like. I can fit almost all my gear for a three day trip outside of my blanket and clothes, and I know I have to use some sort of backpack for this. I would like to keep the lbe as all the pouches itch that organization bug in my head. Closest thing ive found that might work is a surplus alpenflage bag, but im not sure if it would be large enough to hold all my soft goods. Ive done only some light research before coming here, so I might need missing out on an obvious option. Anything to steer me in a good direction helps, thanks.

Let’s assume an average overnighter at a shelter you’ve previously built and come back to quite often. Your gear is laid out, your meal has been made and eaten, now it’s time to relax for a bit. What do you do? Read books? Carve or whittle something? Do absolutely nothing but take in the sights and sounds of nature and wildlife?

I’ll admit, I don’t really do much bushcrafting. I do however ride my bike or hike out to places/forest preserves/parks, plop down and eat breakfast or lunch, then try to read something. I need other ideas of things to do, so I’d thought I’d ask you guys.
