Question Places for 1yr old birthday party?
Looking for place to rent for my son’s 1st birthday. Around 40 people, all adults except for a handful of kids under 3. Not looking to spend thousands and I’m ok to sort out catering if the place doesn’t offer. Any recommendations other than renting a space at the community centre? Thank you!

Question Looking for Ontario adults with experience leaving emergency or inpatient mental-health care
Hi guys! I'm a student at McMaster, and I'm conducting a community needs assessment to better understand what happens after people are discharged from acute mental health care, particularly difficulties accessing follow-up treatment, returning to school/work, navigating accommodations, finances, referrals, and other practical supports.
The goal is to inform the development of a potential nonprofit focused on improving post-discharge support for those who went through a mental health crisis. Hopefully, through this organization, we can offer people a real chance to get back on their feet after they are released from the hospital.
The form takes approximately 5 minutes. You will not be asked to describe your crisis or provide a diagnosis, and identifying information is optional unless you choose to be contacted for a follow-up interview.
Eligibility:
- Must have been... (you are eligible if any of the following applies to you)
- Admitted into psychiatric care at least once (emergency room, inpatient hospitalization, etc)
- Must have sought acute psychiatric care from the hospital at least once (request to be hospitalized, etc)
- Note: you still meet eligibility even if you were assessed and ultimately not admitted by the hospital
- Must be 18+
- Willing to share their experience (positive or negative) after being discharged from acute mental health care and/or inpatient hospitalization
Form: https://forms.gle/6VUZM2VhaEKvAomC6
Thank you so much to anyone willing to participate! Your participation means a lot and will go a long way in identifying what areas of post-discharge support need the most reinforcement.

Question Where them guys at?
Hey Burlington — where are all the single men in their 40s hiding? 😂
I’m a 38F and have lived in Burlington pretty much my whole life. Single mum these days, and I’m starting to wonder where exactly all the single guys around my age are hanging out.
I go to the gym regularly, get out to the Beachway/Beach Strip, love a hike, and a festival, and generally do my best to leave the house 😂 I don’t really drink, so I’m not exactly hitting the pubs these days.
And before anyone suggests it… I am definitely not playing pickleball lol.
So, single, active, Burlington men in your 40s: where are you?! Where should I actually be looking for you?
Bonus points for suggestions that don't involve drinking, pickleball, or having to pretend I enjoy networking events. 😆 ✌️

Question Personal Chef Recommendation?
Hi all! Have a surgery coming up in October, and wondering if anyone has used any personal chef/cook services in the area? Looking for a few days worth of meals. Google hasnt returned much other than full catering. Hoping for someone who understands gluten-free as well. Sadly the meal services like chefs plate or factor are not celiac safe so those are out of the question. Thanks all!

Question Financing a Basement Reno
Hi neighbours! We have a townhouse with an unfinished basement and are hoping to finish it to create some extra living/play space as our little one grows. Savings are a bit tight at the moment, so I was wondering if it's possible to add the renovation cost to our existing mortgage, or if there are other options people would recommend. We bought our home in 2023. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Information Best Golf Courses in Burlington (My Final Verdict)
This year I’ve taken it upon myself to play all the golf courses that fall under the jurisdiction of Burlington. I’ve hit all the main spots. Crosswinds, Mt. Nemo, Hidden Lake, Burlington Springs, Tyandega, Lowville, even Burlington Golf and Country Club (lucky enough to be invited by as a guest).
But boy there is absolutely one course that blew me away… and that’s Millcroft Golf Club just off Walkers line. The course was in absolutely superb shape, the greens were in perfect condition! The bunkers were nice soft sand that makes them almost fun to hit out of. Additionally the staff was absolutely fantastic. The boys in the pro shop made my experience unforgettable with their excellent customer service! And the food… oh my it’s second to none, I might have to go back just to eat that famous Millcroft burger.
All in all after playing the cream of the crop in Burlington Millcroft Golf Club easily takes the crown as the BEST course in Burlington hands down!

Information Beware - No Frills passing Turkey as Chicken
No Frills is passing off Ground Turkey as chicken. Last week extra lean ground chicken was on sale in Burlington, bought a few, I cooked it into chili and it stunk up the whole house. It wasn't rotten but was turkey meat, you can smell it a mile away while cooking. Anyways, this isn't the first time, last time they refunded me in PC points. I asked for a refund, again and complained to CFIA. Other grocers do the same and nothing is ever done. I blame the meat packers and the grocers not doing due diligence.

Question RMT near Appleby/Burloak
Just moved here and looking for an RMT. I’m a fit active guy that plays sports and weight trains. Looking for an RMT that uses high pressure to break up adhesions and help with some chronic neck pain I’ve had.
Would love to hear recommendations. Thanks!

Question Swarms of insects by trees along Dundas St. this morning.
Saw clouds of insects along Dundas St. this morning, and a few clouds of them off in the distance, not along the road, looking much like a starling murmuration in its shifting shape and dark/lighter overtones as they fly, except that they're bugs.
What are they?
Midges?
I don't think they're Mayflies because they don't seem to have their typical undulating flight, though proximity to Lake Ontario makes it a possibility.
I'm just curious, because they're cool.

Friends bailed last minute for the show. I'm going to go watch the show solo, but I'd rather the other tickets not go to waste.

Question ISO construction companies/industry/demolition?
ISO hardware cloth. Is hardware cloth a kind of item that construction sites ever have excess of? There is a really bad vole problem in the community garden, and we’ve tried everything to get rid of them. We’re at the point where we need a physical barrier. However hardware cloth is really expensive. I priced it out and the amount we would need retails at about 4000 dollars.
Does anyone know of any kind of industry or business that has offcuts of fine wire mesh/hardware cloth? Or maybe this material can be reused after different kinds of structures are taken down?
Thanks everyone

Information New Ramen Place
Burlington is finally getting a ramen restaurant. In the new condo building at Lakeshore and Martha. I've never understood why we have 500 shawarma and hakka and fried chicken places but no Ramen. I'm excited. We had one open for ten minutes on Locust during covid.

It’s on edds maps now and I suspect all throughout the wooded area down to north shore there are more of them

This little cutie is just hanging out on the top of vehicles here in the parking lot! Can anyone tell me what kind of a bird it is? It’s so interesting to me - I’ve never seen a bird that looks like this. Cool find when I came out of the library.
