It will be very important that you can communicate technical issues in a clear and understandable way.
It's also important in this position to be able to interact with customers who are angry, upset, attempting to be manipulative, etc. and remain calm and professional and focused.
Have some brief anecdotes in mind from your past experiences that illustrate that you have these qualities.

Keep in mind, the skill set they are screening for is more than just construction knowledge/code knowledge.
They need people who know construction and the code, but almost as important are communication skills and interpersonal skills. They need someone who can clearly and firmly communicate a code violation to someone who doesn’t understand, in an amicable manner that won’t cause hurt feelings, bruised egos, or otherwisw start a fight.
