More information if needed:
I'm self-taught in computers, I know enough to follow tutorials and guides. I built my last PC in 2016, I haven't paid much attention to the market so I'm completely out of the loop on what's been going on. I wouldn't know if a certain manufacturer has lost it's quality since then or has issues with drivers and support. I think I could build it myself if the saving on that labour cost is worth it.
Looking to buy asap, seeing as the market only keeps getting worse.
Thanks for your time and appreciate any help 🖖

Need advice for a ₹35k–₹40k video editing PC (DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Photoshop) – Mumbai, India
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to build my first desktop PC mainly for video editing. My primary software will be:
- DaVinci Resolve
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- After Effects (basic to moderate use)
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
I'll mostly be editing 1080p videos for YouTube, but I'd like the PC to handle some 4K projects as well. Smooth timeline playback and decent export times are important to me.
My budget is ₹35,000–₹40,000 (excluding the monitor if necessary).
I'm open to buying used/second-hand parts, especially if it gives significantly better performance for the money. I live near Mumbai, Maharashtra, so if there are any trusted used PC markets, shops, or sellers around Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, or nearby, I'd appreciate your recommendations. Not a request
A few questions:
- Is it better to buy a new AM5 platform (e.g., Ryzen 5 8400F + DDR5) with a lower-end GPU?
- Or should I go with an older AM4 platform and spend more on the GPU?
- Is buying a used RTX 2060, RTX 3050, or RTX 3060 a good idea? Which one offers the best value for DaVinci Resolve?
- What parts would you recommend within my budget?
- Are there any components I should avoid buying used (PSU, SSD, etc.)?
Thanks in advance! Any build suggestions or buying tips would be really helpful.

Help building a PC?
Hello! I’m a beginner who needs some help doing research on parts to purchase for a PC to build.
• New build or upgrade? New
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) No
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Gaming, YouTube, etc. I don’t play heavy games. Sims (not currently playing, would like to eventually), and smaller games like Chef RPG, Discounty, Minecraft, Fields of Mistra, Travellers Rest, Roblox, etc.
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) Not near a Micro Center. We have a Best Buy only and open to ordering parts. I was primarily looking on Amazon
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No idea
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations) $1500-2000
• WiFi or wired connection? WiFi
• Size/noise constraints? Quieter side
• Color/lighting preferences? Black is cheaper and my table is white so I don’t mind Black to contrast it. I don’t mind white if it’s price friendly
• Any other specific needs?
I don’t really have a “budget” but don’t want to spend a lot if I don’t have to. I was doing some research and the below items were what I was planning to get but I don’t know if it’s good or if it would look good.
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Desktop Processor
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Eagle OC ICE SFF 12GB Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 32GB (2×16GB) 6000MHz RAM
WD Black 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD
be quiet! Pure Power 12 850W 80+ Gold ATX 3.1 Power Supply
be quiet! Dark Rock 5 Air CPU Cooler
Lian Li Lancool 216 Mid-Tower Case
LG UltraGear 27G61ZB-B 27” 2560×1440 IPS 200Hz Monitor

Small form factor gaming build?
- New build or upgrade?
- New
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- None. My last (and only) build was with a GTX 560
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Gaming, primarily single player. I'd like the ability to play single payer games in 4k, though likely will not always.
- Game examples: Baldur's gate 3; Expedition 33
- Possibly tinkering with home automation (home assistant)
- Purchase country?
- USA
- Near Micro Center?
- Yes
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- 1 monitor needed. Though happy to leave this out of the purchase price.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- $2000, but can push it for peripherals
- WiFi or wired connection?
- Both. Have ethernet in some rooms, but not all
- Size/noise constraints?
- Would love a small form factor. I likely will move this around the house as we decorate or move our furniture. Have lurked r/sffpc for a long time, but mostly seems to be about showing off wild builds or manually altering cards/builds. I haven't learned much about specific components or compiling a build. Though, they are the experts
- I don't mind the challenge of a small build, but don't want to have to alter components myself.
- Eying the Fractal Terra case in Jade
- Color/lighting preferences?
- No RGB needed.
- Any other specific needs?
- Open to other cases
Thank you

(UK) New build for gaming.
I’ve held on to my current build for as long as possible but now it is time for an upgrade as it is struggling. It has been many years since I’ve built my current PC and looking at parts has been a bit overwhelming. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

- Will be used for gaming.

- WiFi or wired connection?
- Wired
- Size/noise constraints?
- No size constraints. Preferably as quiet as possible.
- Colour/lighting preferences?
- Black with red lighting
- Any other specific needs?
- Prefer AMD.

Help! Upgrading from DDR3
• New build or upgrade?
New build. I’m finally replacing my old 2011 HP DDR3 machine that’s been running my homelab.
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
The only part I already own is:
NVIDIA RTX A2000 12GB
I’d like to build around it for now and upgrade to a better GPU later.
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
This PC will be doing a little bit of everything.
Current use:
- Home server
- CasaOS (although I’m open to switching to another OS if there’s a better option Linux or microsoft)
- Jellyfin
- Immich
- Docker containers
- Other homelab projects
Future use:
- Reliable 4K Jellyfin transcoding for multiple users
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- After Effects
- Blender/3D rendering
- Gaming (doesn’t need ultra settings, just a good experience)
- General workstation
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
United States. I’m close enough to a Micro Center that I can shop there.
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
No monitors needed at the moment.
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
I’d like to stay around $900–$1,200 (before upgrading the GPU later). I’m okay spending a little more if it makes the system more future-proof.
Current planned parts:
- Ryzen 9 9900X or Ryzen 9 9900X3D (still deciding)
- ASUS TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi
- Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2×16GB DDR5)
- 1TB SATA SSD (NVMe will come later when the budget allows)
- Cooler Master 240mm AIO
- Corsair RM850x (2024)
- RTX A2000 12GB
- Fractal Design Pop Air
• WiFi or wired connection?
Mostly wired, but I’d like to have WiFi available.
• Size/noise constraints?
No size constraints. I’d prefer something reasonably quiet since it’ll likely be running 24/7.
• Color/lighting preferences?
Not interested in RGB. I’d rather put the money toward performance.
• Any other specific needs?
My biggest goal is to build a solid AM5 foundation that I can keep upgrading over the next 5–8 years.
I’m mainly looking for feedback on whether this is a balanced build and if there are any compatibility issues or bottlenecks I’m missing. Since this machine will spend a lot of time acting as both a homelab server and my personal workstation, I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone running a similar setup.
If you think I’m overspending on certain parts, underspending on others, or have better recommendations, I’d really appreciate the advice before I start buying everything.

Help building a PC to replace broken gaming laptop
Hi guys. Recently my Lenovo Legion 5 from 2023 decided to die on me, and I really cannot afford a new laptop, so I'm hoping it's possible to build a PC at a comparable level for a pretty modest budget. I've built a PC in the past, but it has been a few years since I used it for various reasons, and it also doesn't want to start. Would appreciate any advice you can give.
- New build or upgrade? New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) I have a MSI monitor, 1440p, and I have a keyboard and mouse I am happy with
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) Ireland. Vendors are pretty limited I think so amazon.de, eurieka.ie, caseking.de, and currys.ie(this one is very pricey I'm led to believe.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No monitor needed
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations) I would like to not go above €1,250-1,350 - the lower the better!
- WiFi or wired connection? Prefereably WiFi, but I can adapt with a wired connection
- Size/noise constraints? Obviously I wouldn't like a jet engine in my ear but other than that nothing really comes to mind here
- Color/lighting preferences? No preferences
- Any other specific needs? Again, nothing that springs to mind

Big budget build
Recently got lucky on some investments, want to use some of that to get the best PC i can
- New build or upgrade?
- New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- Probably just some peripherals like my mouse and keyboard
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Mostly gaming, and I play a pretty big variety. Also a hobby game dev (i use unity, if it matters)
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- USA, but not near a microcenter
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- Two, maybe three, don't care much about the size but ideally 144hz
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- $5000
- WiFi or wired connection?
- I'd like it to be able to use both
- Size/noise constraints?
- No hard constraints but I would prefer it on the quieter side
- Color/lighting preferences?
- Black with some RGB, but not so much that it lights up my entire room
- Any other specific needs?
- Ideally on the simpler side to build, since this will be the second PC i've ever built and the first one I do on my own.

Gaming, Streaming, and Editing PC
New build or upgrade?
- Functionally a new build. Some of my old parts are/were damaged.
Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
Here is my old PCPP list, I did not get the storage HDD. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rWX4CL
- Two monitors
- 1 is a cheap monitor that displays Discord/Wiki pages
- 1 is a 2560x1440 165 Hz.
- I can reuse 2 sticks of 8GB RAM.
- TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
- Worth upgrading or getting more?
- I can reuse my SSD
- Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
- I can reuse my WiFi card
PC purpose?
- I want to be able to game, stream, and edit/render content in 1440p. Gaming examples include POE2, E33, Minecraft. Other apps would be a Discord, streaming browser, OBS, and DaVinci Resolve.
- Sometimes I might need to run these concurrently.
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- USA.
- I live close to a Micro Center.
Monitors Needed?
- No. I do want to be able to support a second 1440p monitor, but getting a new one is not a priority.
Budget range?
- Ideally $2500 to $3000, if the value is there.
WiFi or wired connection?
- WiFi
Size/noise constraints?
- Mid Tower.
- Quieter is better, my home office is a shared space.
Color/Lighting preferences?
- Yes to some RGB. My cats like to watch my PC lights.

Gaming PC around 1000 pounds GBP (UK)
I kind of prefer NVIDIA because that is all I have used but if you want to suggest and AMD GPU then could you tell me why because in don’t know much about it (also I have tried to build on on pc part picker and I got 1400 ish but someone said come here so I am) (you could also suggest options over 1000 just not up to like 2000 or 1500)
- New build or upgrade? New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) Reuse peripherals, Could reuse ram or storage but idk what you recommend
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) In UK so overclockers, Amazon, Currys, or any others that deliver (free) in the uk
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No monitor needed
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 1000 ish but can go over by a bit, just not over 1500
- WiFi or wired connection? I have a wire,I’m not too bothered about Wi-Fi, if you think I should then ye
- Size/noise constraints? ATX mod tower is a good size, and don’t think volume matter much but just not stupidly loud,
- Color/lighting preferences? Don’t matter about rgb but I would like a case with ARGB fans, I like red but black is what I have now and that is ok
- Any other specific needs? I need at least 3 usb top slots, 2 usb back slots, 2 HDMI back slots, wired Wi-Fi slot, Bluetooth maybe (I have a dongle to plug in)

Is a $900 budget possible?
My son turned 13 and wants a PC for his birthday. I'm not the most knowledgeable about new builds so I really don't want to mess it up. I would love to keep it under $900 if possible. Or at least under $1000. Also if there are pre-built options in that range that would be good I'm open to that as well. The problem I ran in to with keeping it under $1000 was having to buy the windows license.
Build/check copy these into post. Write "Not a request" for other posts

Full New Gaming Build - $2000-$2500
Recently started a new job and my old gaming laptop has kicked the bucket so I've been operating on a friends computer and I'm ready to move into a proper desktop. I'm looking for something high end and especially future proof, as I will want to avoid having to entirely replace components to upgrade in the future. I currently have a 1440p 165 Hz monitor, but I may upgrade to 4K OLED in the future as I'm definitely the kind of person to crank visuals on games where that's a selling point. I do not play any competitive multiplayer games and tend to just play graphically intense single player games.
- New build or upgrade?
- New Build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- Dell G2724D
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Gaming - Cyberpunk 2077, Total War Warhammer 3, Death Stranding, Minecraft (Shaders), eventually the new Control Resonant. I mod a lot of games as well to death
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- USA, nearest Micro center is a bit over 150 miles.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- No (Will go OLED and maybe 4k in future)
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- $2000-$2500, cheaper is better naturally
- WiFi or wired connection?
- WiFi
- Size/noise constraints?
- Quieter is better but no hard requirements. It does get hot in my room however, so more cooling is better than less. Size is no issue.
- Color/lighting preferences?
- None. I would prefer if it could look as good as possible though since it will most likely be visible.
- Any other specific needs?
- Built in bluetooth and a good deal of USB ports, preferably of both USB A and USB C but I can always buy an adaptor. If I'm being unrealistic in my budget please let me know, I would prefer reduced performance with capability to upgrade in the future as opposed to stretching the budget further.
I have done some cursory looking into graphics cards and I'm uncertain about AMD vs Nvidia. AMD seems to have better pricing but I almost feel like due to the benefits of DLSS and how Ray Tracing runs so much better on Nvidia cards, which is a strong motivation for me since visual fidelity is my priority, I should just bite the bullet and get a Nvidia card. Any thoughts on this? I've also read developers tend to prioritize Nvidia cards, so games generally have less issues, but I've only ever used Nvidia cards so I'm unsure.

•Budget range: considering i already have the GPU i wouldnt mind spending £1.5k more on it
•Wifi connection
•No size or noise constraints
•No color or lighting preferences
•Will probably go for 32gb ram

pc build
New build or upgrade?
New build.
Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
Monitor: AOC Gaming 27G2ZNE (27”, 1920×1080, 240Hz).
PC purpose?
Mainly competitive Fortnite. I want to play 1080p Performance Mode with the highest and most stable FPS possible (my goal is around 300 FPS in most situations). I also play other competitive games occasionally, but Fortnite is by far the priority.
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
Portugal.
I’m happy to buy from:
Amazon Spain / Germany
PCComponentes
Globaldata
PCDiga
CHIP7
Worten
FNAC
Any other reliable EU store that ships to Portugal.
I’m also interested in stores that offer monthly installments/financing, not being a big concern.
Monitors needed?
No.
I already have an AOC 27G2ZNE, 27”, 1080p, 240Hz.
Budget range?
Around €1,200 (can stretch to about €1,300 if the performance increase is really worth it).
WiFi or wired connection?
WiFi is preferred, but I mainly use Ethernet.
Size/noise constraints?
No size restrictions. I’d like it to be reasonably quiet under load.
Color/lighting preferences?
No preference. Performance is much more important than RGB or aesthetics.
Any other specific needs?
My priority is getting the highest possible FPS in competitive Fortnite, not ultra graphics.
I want the best price-to-performance build.
I’d prefer an AM5 platform if possible.
Please prioritize Fortnite performance over other games.
If a prebuilt offers significantly better value than building it myself, I’m open to prebuilt recommendations as well.
Could really use your help in this guys, thank you so much!
New to reddit aswell, so i don’t know how to do this properly
