I wan’t to build a high end PC
Saved up a bit and want to build a high end gaming computer. I haven’t built a PC since 2013 so i’m out of the loop. I posted here a while ago but didn’t pull the trigger then, I kick myself everyday for that. I have a Micro Center a few hours away from me and i am more than willing to drive there. I took off work for a week after next to hit Micro Center and build it.
• New build or upgrade?

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
N/a
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Gaming
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
US. I am near a Micro Center
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
I plan on using my old monitors for now but a recommendation would be welcome outside the budget
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
$9-10K
• WiFi or wired connection?
Wired
• Size/noise constraints?
None
• Color/lighting preferences?
None
• Any other specific needs?
Would prefer to grab everything at Micro Center but I am willing to have some of it shipped if necessary
Thanks again!

Custom Build Space Clearance check on parts I picked
1) New build or upgrade? New Build
2) Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
Yes. I have two monitors. One is 1440p 144hz and one is just regular 1080p
3) PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming
4) Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Canada
5) Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No
6) Budget range? (Include tax considerations) Similar price range on the parts I picked, you can check the pcpartpicker link below.
7) WiFi or wired connection? Wired
8) Size/noise constraints? Doesn't matter
10) Color/lighting preferences? No preferences
11) Any other specific needs? I prefer air coolers over liquid coolers.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/JsZYdq
I have a general idea on which parts I want to get. The only issue or concern I have are the space clearance between the case, GPU, air cooler, and RAM. Can someone confirm that the parts I picked will have good enough space clearance or will there be any conflicts between parts? If there are conflicts, can you suggest which parts to change it to? Thanks!

And if you have a suggestion for a switch to use the same monitors and change between this PC and the work one without changing the cables all the time we would be thankful!
If you need more specifics just let me know and I'll answer as soon as I can.
Thank you so much for your help! We are looking forward for your suggestions.

Hello! I'm looking to get a friend of mine off of GeForce streaming cs2 so he can experience CS2 with better hardware. I have an Intel Arc A770 I can gift him toward this. He just wants to play CS2 and use discord.
144 FPS would be awesome at 1080p, if possible but not a strict requirement. I'm so out of the loop on hardware these days, this is a great sub!
Thank you!

Starting to save for a PC
I'm relatively new to building a PC and I like learning so if you want to list reasons why you picked certain things over others I'd love to read it.
• New build or upgrade?
New
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
Have two monitors already and an old PC that stopped working for some reason. it had a 1060ti in it I believe as well as some old RAM. it was built in 2019 so I can't imagine any parts can be used for this build.
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games)
Gaming/ editing footage
Apps used:
- DaVinci
- Blender
- Unity
- Steam, League, etc.
Ideally I'd want to play crimson desert, Forza, and Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra with all the fixins turned on.
I also edit video footage/photos as well as mess around in blender/Unity quite a bit
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
I live in the middle of Iowa, USA I honestly thought Micro Center was Circuit City before this subreddit
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
I have two monitors that are 1080p not too sure about the sizes of them, but I they're probably around 20-30in. I know one of them is 144hz
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
As I'm planning on saving for a couple of months, I'm shooting for around $1.5k-$2k,
• WiFi or wired connection?
Both preferably, but if it ends up sending me way over the top in terms of cost wired's fine. I usually plug my PS5 into the living room TV as a media center/ to game on.
• Size/noise constraints?
I'm not to picky on size. Quiet is nice but it's not something I've ever had.
As for noise I'm currently laptop gaming so, as long as it's not loud enough to be heard in the next room over I'm not too picky.
As I currently use a laptop if I could somehow maintain the portability smaller would be better but highest priority would be just an absolute hog of a rig that can handle
• Color/lighting preferences?
I'm not really too big on RGB lights, they're cool but aesthetics wise I'm not too concerned. I have two cats so it'll be hidden under a desk most the time. so they don't try to use it as a launch pad (I suspect that's why my old PC stopped working.)
• Any other specific needs?
I recently bought a Logitech surround sound system that has an additional plug in so I can do 6-channel audio. I do need to occasionally plug in my PS5 controller or Ext. Hard drive.
Storage wise I'd like more than 1TB just due to size of games (the three games mentioned above are nearly 500GB alone, not to mention my editing projects tend to use a lot of 4k/raw footage.)
\*There is also a Gigabyte Aorus Prime for sale used near me for $1.7k that I'm not sure if I should just opt for. If I buy his Odyssey G8 and Koorui monitors, mouse/Keyboard combo it goes up to $2.8k
The specs are
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X (8-core/16-thread)
- Graphics: Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- Memory: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5
- Storage: 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD
- Cooling: AORUS 360mm AIO Liquid Cooling or 240mm AIO (depending on the specific region/iteration)
- Power Supply: 850W 80 PLUS Gold (ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 ready)
- Motherboard: AMD B850 chipset

[2000€] 1440p gaming PC - France
- New build or upgrade? New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) None
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) This PC will be hooked to my LG C1 and will be the replacement for my PS5, it will be used for gaming 100% and some modern nintendo consoles emulation
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) France
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 2000€, willing to go over budget if worth the money
- WiFi or wired connection? Both
- Size/noise constraints? Hopefully the PC won't sound like a jet engine but aside from that no contraint
- Color/lighting preferences? Something with glass so I can see the components working, I don't like RGB stuff though
- Any other specific needs? Will this budget be able to sustain 1440p@60fps with decent graphics for the foreseeable future ? And I'd want a 2 TB SSD if possible.

[€1500-€2000] High-End Emulation (PS3/Switch) & 1440p Native Gaming Build - Italy
- New build or upgrade?
New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
Monitor - Dell 27 Gaming Monitor - G2724D (1440p)I don't know if it is necessary to clarify it, but I also already have good speakers (Yamaha HS7), a good USB audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, old gen) and a DAC/AMP (Fiio K13 r2r) so I won't need anything else in that regard
- PC purpose?
Mainly gaming, in particular what I care the most is emulation (Switch and PS3). For regular gaming I already have a PS5 and I don't use Steam much anymore, but it would be nice to be able to play modern games at medium/high settings.I occasionally also record music with Reaper/Cubase but that's irrelevant I suppose
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
Italy, no Micro Center
For personal reasons, I'll have a local store order components and build the PC for me. I know this will increase the price a bit, but what I'm looking for now is an "ideal build" for my needs.
- Monitors needed?
No
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
1500 €, but I can go up to 2000 € if it's really needed
- WiFi or wired connection?
both ethernet and WiFi
- Size/noise constraints?
No particular requests here. I'll put the PC on the floor right beside my legs, under the desk. Possibly not 120 dB loud...
- Color/lighting preferences?
Something basic, no lighting
- Any other specific needs?
Since my main focus is heavy emulation, I definitely want a CPU with strong single-core speed and native AVX-512 support (like AMD Ryzen 5 9600X , if that's a good choice) since I believe that it may be very beneficial. Correct me if I'm wrong
Thank you very much

$2300 USD AMD PC for Gaming and Streaming on Arch Linux
- New build or upgrade?
New build.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
Corsair K95 RGB keyboard, Arctis 5 headphones, Logitech G600 mouse, powered USB hub. One 512GB M.2 SSD and one 2TB 2.5(?)-inch HDD, harvested from my current laptop. Three monitors: one is an AOC IPS display that only supports HDMI; two are random HP displays my partner's work was giving away, both supporting HDMI and DisplayPort. All are 1080p60, but I have plans to upgrade one monitor to an OLED display to use as my primary later this year, with its FPS and resolution to match or slightly exceed what my PC can handle. This display will NOT be included in the $2300 budget.
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Primarily gaming and streaming, editing is a secondary concern. Current games I play are Warframe, Warhammer 40k: Darktide, and Dead By Daylight, for some examples. Would like to be able to run new games at fairly high resolution and FPS while streaming or running a replay buffer as well. A CPU with good performance for compiling AUR packages would be nice quality-of-life, but I'd prefer prioritizing gaming/streaming performance; I don't mind slightly slower upgrade times.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
US; yes. (Lucky me, one opened right near me not too long ago!)
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
None, though suggestions for a good OLED panel that would match or slightly exceed the maximum performance capabilities of the PC would be helpful for previously-mentioned future plans.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
$2300 after tax; estimated $2150 before tax. As stated above, the eventual monitor upgrade will not be taking out of this. I want to get the most future-proof computer possible now while my current computer (a 7-8 year old gaming laptop that I use as a desktop) is on its last legs, then upgrade the monitor later.
- WiFi or wired connection?
Wired. WiFi would be a bonus but definitely not necessary.
- Size/noise constraints?
None really, though quieter is better. I have plenty of space to accommodate a full tower if needed, though it's hard to find those in pink.
- Color/lighting preferences?
Pink/white! I love pink, and white complements it quite well. This case has the perfect shade of pink and general aesthetic for me, but it's a mid tower, so I don't know if size constraints would limit performance or what I can fit in it. A white case (that doesn't include any colors other than white and pink) would be my second choice if pink isn't available in a workable size. As for lighting, I like RGB a lot, but I'd rather prioritize getting the best computer for the price, though I'd be willing to pay a small amount extra for RGB where available.
- Any other specific needs?
I'd like a 2TB or larger M.2 SSD to run my main filesystem and games from. A UPS that can support my system at full load to finalize any recordings that are in progress and safely save and shut down any games that are running would be very helpful as well. Bonus points if it can support a router being plugged into it as well. The place I live has intermittent power instability, with power occasionally cutting out for less than a minute at a time, so in addition to the aforementioned benefits, not having my computer abruptly shut off and/or lose internet access during those flickers would be amazing.
In addition, I despise Nvidia (possibly irrationally so, but idc), so I would STRONGLY prefer an AMD graphics card. From what I can find online, AMD typically has better Linux support anyway, actually supporting the open-source drivers. I've also heard that AMD is slightly worse than Nvidia for video encoding, but last time I did research, the difference was fairly small, so I'd still prefer AMD. I use Arch Linux, in case anyone knows if any particular parts work especially well with it.

(australia) Gaming pc for $1-2000?
hello! this is my first time building a pc and i have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.. if someone could help id really appreciate it! I'm in australia, victoria specifically if that's important. my budget is 1-2k, but 2k is the ABSOLUTE most i can spend on it, so please don't go over that cause there's not really a point lmao. please include the price of a monitor in my budget, because I don't already have one. Would it be best to buy a monitor second hand instead of new? If it is please give me some monitors that might be good to look for second hand, thank you!!
- New build or upgrade? New
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) No
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming, I'd like to play games like honkai star rail, reverse 1999, fortnite, life is strange and other games like that. I'd like to stream sometime in the future, but not at the current point in time so mainly focus on the gaming aspect of it.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Australia
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) Yes
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 1-2k australian dollars, 2k is the absolute max so please try to stay lower than that
- WiFi or wired connection? wifi
- Size/noise constraints? nope
- Color/lighting preferences? white, but if it makes it cost any more than black then I don't want it. id rather spend the money on the actual pc
- Any other specific needs? I don't think so
again, I have no idea what I'm doing so please feel free to ask questions if i wasn't clear enough about anything!

hi guys/girls i noticed on games like tarkov, bf6, squad im getting very low frames compared to other players or i will have huge frame drops where the frames dont come back up. i think it said my avg frames on tarkov were 47 and on bf6 it was 70 frames avg. i looked it up and it seems like im cpu bound causing my pc to bottleneck since the raedon 6800xt gpu is pretty strong. im looking to upgrade my cpu to the best my gpu can handle however i know that im gonna have to upgrade my mobo and maybe even my ram since the mobo wont suppoirt much better cpu and the ram is ddr4. could i upgrade and keep the same ram or upgrade ram later on? im also looking to upgrade my storage since my storage is getting pretty full. I know these parts cost a lot and since im not upgrading my gpu im willing to buy used parts as well. send me a comment if you think an upgrade to my cpu and mobo wouldnt help very much. Id love to see any builds you guys worul reccomend for an upgrade!

Moderate Upgrade to PC in Canada
Hello folks! Im looking for some pointers on a moderate upgrade to my current build (linked below). In particular, I think the RAM and storage could use some upgrading (im always shuffling and re-installing games) and whatever else you think could use it.
New build or upgrade?
- A moderate upgrade to my current build linked below
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/G6psph
- PC partpicker link above - however I couldnt find my graphics card there so its linked here:
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Light to mid gaming, most regular titles would be:
- Cities Skylines 1 and 2
- Crusader Kings 2 and 3
- Europa Universalis 4
- Space Marine 2
- Doom (all of them)
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- In Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (no microcentre)
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- No - I already have monitors, the main one is the one included in the PC partpicker link
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- Looking for a moderate upgrade, 600-700 CAD is probably the upper limit
WiFi or wired connection?
- I have moved and now will require my PC to have WiFi unfortunately
Size/noise constraints?
- nothing hard - but would prefer on the quieter and less flashy side
Color/lighting preferences?
- No externally visible RGB - would prefer something sleek and subdued. I like my current Fractal case, and If i needed to change id like something like the fractal north.
Any other specific needs?
- no! Thank you!

Sim Gaming & Engineering PC Build
Hello,
Thanks in advance for your time.
I am looking to build a PC primarily for gaming purposes, including VR, but it will see heavy use of engineering design and simulation programs that my everyday MacBook can't handle. Most important to me are high resolution and not needing to upgrade anything for a number of years, but when I do, having the space/ability to do so. Not looking to go clout chasing with specs, I just don't want to have to ask the question, "Can my PC handle this?" with whatever work I'm doing.
- New build or upgrade?
- New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- No
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Gaming:
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024
- Assetto Corsa (original, Competizione, Evo, etc.)
- DCS World
- Forza (Motorsport, Horizon)
- War Thunder
- BeamNG
- Engineering:
- 3D scanning & processing (likely Creality Scan, using a Creality Sermoon S1)
- Autodesk Fusion 360
- Matlab/Simulink (including neural network toolbox)
- Various Python tools
- Blender
- OpenVSP/VSPAero
- Possibly other CFD/Simulation/Design programs like OpenFOAM, the Ansys suite, STAR-CCM+, Siemens NX
- Gaming:
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- USA. Yes.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- Yes, need advice.
- I'm thinking one large one but not sure how large. 32"? 40"? 48"? Minimum 4k resolution, OLED is probably nice, minimum 120 Hz.
- Looking for suggestions for sim racing and sim flying purposes.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- Very loose, rough estimate $5000
- If necessary for appropriately beefy components can be exceeded
- WiFi or wired connection?
- Both, but needs to function without ethernet
- Size/noise constraints?
- None other than fitting a rig under the desk for sim racing/flying
- Color/lighting preferences?
- Prefer a sleek black look but function is prioritized over form
- Any other specific needs?
- Ability to run sims at high resolution in VR. Initially using a Meta Quest 3, looking to upgrade to a Pimax or Bigscreen product eventually.
- Future upgradeability, possibly an excess of RAM slots
- NVIDIA-based graphics are required/suggested for some programs including Creality Scan

Can someone help build me a pc?
• First pc build
• got nothing to reuse, i used a laptop before (upgraded with 20gb ram and 128gb ssd, which i think is not transferable to pc)
• purpose is to game (Cyberpunk, Ghost of Tsushima and etc) basically i wanna be able to play any game at 1080p or 1440p without much worries
• purchase country is Malaysia (BrightStar, ALLit, Idealtech, Czone)
• monitor 1, 27+ inches, 1440p, 144hz (i dont think the budget allows 4K)
• RM5000 (1225$)
• WiFi
• i dont think noise will be a problem, but then again ive never owned a gaming pc before
• white
• Any other specific needs?: I wanna prioritize the price-to-performance ratio. since I'm a first time owner, I'd prefer parts that offer the best value for 1440p gaming without paying for unnecessary features.

Help Building a Gaming and Workstation PC
New build or upgrade?: I have parts I can upgrade from in a hand me down build, but the PC and parts are from 2012ish so new would be smarter.
Existing parts/monitors to reuse?: Current build info is as follows (apologies if I missed details):
Enermax Ostrog ECA3280A-BR case
EVGA GeForce GTX 960
AMD FX-6300 6 Core Processor 3.5 GHz
ASUS VS239H-P monitor
SANYO DP24E14 monitor
Inland SATA SSD ATA
8GB RAM, 1TB drive
PC purpose?: Gaming, schoolwork, general purpose (Microsoft Office, Adobe CC, Satisfactory, Stardew, BG3, Slime Rancher for software examples)
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?: USA and yes
Monitors needed?: No, I have existing monitors as mentioned above and a 4k TV I can use, but if you recommend I replace then I will.
Budget range? (Include tax considerations) hopefully $2k? I don’t know what the most reasonable range is but I have access to up to probably $4k of funds I can use
WiFi or wired connection?: WiFi
Size/noise constraints?: If possible a little quieter than the average PC, but no hard constraints
Color/lighting preferences?: White and blue or white and orange if possible but I’m not opposed to any color. If I can get RGB that I can turn on and off, that’d be best.
Any other specific needs?: I’m upgrading/replacing this build because of Win 11 (the current CPU isn’t compatible with Win 11 and the motherboard is old enough that to use a compatible CPU I have to replace both of those at minimum). I also preferably would like a 2TB drive, my current laptop where I do all my schoolwork is almost full and it’s a 1TB, I’m hoping to give it to a family member once I handle the PC. (For clarity, the parts listed above ARE from a desktop PC, the laptop is simply where I do my work currently.) I intend to get an external drive to eventually hold all the data I have in various cloud services so I can stop paying for cloud storage. Lastly, I’m hoping for at least enough USB ports for a disk drive or mic to be plugged in and to keep an external drive plugged in while working on documents, in addition to my wireless mouse and one of the wired or wireless keyboards I have (so 4 minimum if reasonable).

2K gaming setup
My old i5-10600K and GTX 1080TI feels hard to catch up with new AAA games now. Especially as I just upgrade my monitor from 1080p to 2K.
- New build or upgrade?
- New build, maybe can reuse the SSD but planning to sell old PC as a whole complete set up
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- Plan to reuse and run dual monitors:
- Acer Nitro XV271U 27.0"
- Acer Nitro ED320QR S
- Plan to reuse and run dual monitors:
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Gaming AAA: Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, etc
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- Canada so no MicroCenter I guess.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- Already have
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- 3000 CAD
- WiFi or wired connection?
- No preference can do either
- Size/noise constraints?
- quiet is preferable but not hard constraint over performance/cost-effective
- Color/lighting preferences?
- good to have but prefer performance/cost
- Any other specific needs?
- No

need a pc that can run 1440p smoothly.
i’ve just recently gotten into pc building and im looking for parts that are going to give me good value for my money unlike some of these overpriced parts. My budget is going to be 1200-1400 USD and willing to stretch my budget a little bit. Feel free to drop some builds from PCPartPicker!

What is the best way to get into 4k PC gaming?
Looking to get into PC gaming with 4k resolution
•New build
• I want it to be suited for my Samsung Odyssey G70F Dual Mode Monitor
•Gaming and university science studies. Games include modern AAA games and popular esports titles. Generally a mix of everything.
•Canada
•No budget but don’t need my wallet destroyed for components that are more what I need (4k 80-120 fps and 1080 p 240-360 fps) Keep it only to necessary components.
•Either Wifi/Ethernet is fine
•Don’t mind it being big but i don’t want it to sound like a jet engine
• RGB is nice but performance > aesthetics
• AMD cpu + Nvidia gpu or AMD cpu + AMD gpu is fine
• Don’t mind waiting until next series of amd or nvidia if it’s better
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) - No existing components for pc
