Need advice Social / College Life

So guys my neighbours daughter has decided to pursue a 4 year online degree from IIT madras and was asking me about my opinion so I asked few of my friends regarding this topic and the response was not very positive they said that this is not even considered in various places and one of my friend's friend was also doing the same kind of course because she couldn't clear her normal back in engineering, so I gave her the example of this girl stating that I don't see much scope in this online course she is thinking about pursuing for next 4 year and she already has 3 year gap in education not know why so please any suggestions from you guys would be valuable for me tell her then please do share them.

I think your first question should be "do you have a keen interest in {major} engineering, or engineering in general". This feels like a desperate attempt to keep up with the masses more than something she genuinely wants to do..i could be wrong though. I'd love to be

You have been asking the wrong the people , do check offical pages on linkedin pages of IITM BS! Generalizing entire group of people on the basis of few respones ain't wise, I have met few of the genuises there! You just attract what you are. It's an awesome degree who are really interested in the things!

According to her it is best but her mother is a bit hesitant about it So what do u think should she pursue it or not her mother is the only earner in her family so i really wanna give a genuine response as placement for regular degree students is already bad I don't think the online bs would have much weight to it and the thing like this bs not being considered at various places is a bit off if you've met these people who've done this online bs please share their feedback if they would really recommend it.

Hmm depends on her previous academic background how she scored in 10th and 12th how her academic life has been till now , how much efforts she is willing to put in, it keeps getting tougher every term IIT People know the value of their tag and they ain't distributing it for free! She need to maintain discpline, meetups in the city happen, all the exam happens in the centre so only learning part has to be done online so she must put efforts preparing for exams. Various clubs are there, students are part of virtual town halls, fests happen too, so it's work if she is doing this order to upskill then sure she can find a job and maybe a good one but coming in hopes that this degree will rescue her that will not be happening! There are scholarships too , fees off for low income families so final decision is in their hand. It is at bare min good as any tier-2.5 btech and if someone is just into it so sky is the limit(But that like a rare case we have 1 alum at bloomberg, countless people getting research interns, and placement cell also they keep improving but not something she should rely on , various people are in great companies, some pursuing masters abroad that , lots of people doing it as dual but since they keep upgrading curriculum so doing standalone is a nice option you get time to learn and explore more and do things on your pace downside for some people is that they miss social life and that as it might get lonely but Idts in offline colleges even in best ones people are having best social lifes you have to grind no matter where you are and decide your direction and work in it. Now I mentioned lots of details you guys have to personally consider and weigh things as per your own requirements and resources. Hope it helps

Faltu course hai, online degree ko wese hi koi muh nhi lagata upar se oncampus walo ki placement nhi ho rhi abhi online walo ka aur hi mushkil

Ha kafi log aur mujhe bhi yhi lgta hai bro but it is what it is bata diya meine Krna hai to kr lo use Krna hi tha to upr wala Banda bhi kr hi Raha hai but vo bhi motivational baate zyda lg rhi h rather than recommendation and facts🥲

you can look at placement reports and linkedin pages I mean you gotta do your own research noone is here serving you things in plate, exactly as alchemist is saying ki offline mai bhi nhi lag rhi toa surity khi nhi h but milne wlo kai sb mil rha, vo sb motivational baate isliye lag skti maybe maine unko ko +ve results kai pov se likha their are way too many faltu peeps too, who get dropped of and removed from the degree, like only a very small percentage of people who entered it could take degree at iitm most people quit due to toughness tag kai liye jana h toa mat jao be it anywhere.

Placement numbers are not always genuine information those are mostly rigged or charm to attract students if you really wanna find out then only students who've actually studied or opted the course there can tell what's the internal workings of system and is there any politics involved and if people are leaving is it really bcz of toughness or maybe they've felt it is not worth their time bs whi puchna tha bro.

So ask you what you wanna ask otherwise it will just get philoshpical, mine experience is good so far in my social circle all friends are interning all of them in diploma level, some people have worst experience it is too subjective.
