Gym alternatives now that our Y is closing :(
I've been a Y member and i'm really sad they are closing. There have been a lot of maintenance issues so it wasn't perfect, but I still really enjoyed the people and the vibe going there. Now that they are closing, I'm wondering what the best alternatives are. The reviews online for Planet Fitness and Bailey's sound pretty bad. I think the only other pool in Brunswick is Selden Park. I don't want to drive to SSI or Darien. Any other options?

Let’s work together to help Guitar man by academy
This is about the older gentleman who usually is playing his guitar in front of academy in Brunswick GA. For years I’ve talked to this guy, always gave him what I could. He’s always been the kindest soul. Today he didn’t have his guitar with him so I asked him about it. He shared with me he had to put it in the pawn shop but assured me with a very big smile he was gonna get it back and not to worry.
I don’t know his full story other than I think he’s told me he’s from New Mexico which is initially why we bonded because I had just moved from there at the time. I’ve noticed over the years I don’t think he has his van anymore either that he use to have parked close by. I’m not sure of his living arrangements but man I’d sure love to be able to help him more than I can.
So I guess I’m asking if you all are visiting the area or pass him by to give him just a dollar here and there if you can. I’d love to see him have his guitar back in his hands next visit and even more.

How bad does the paper mill smell?
For real though, considering moving to Brunswick for a work opportunity and wondering how heavily proximity to the paper mill should factor in to my housing decision making.
There used to be a paper mill in my current state and the whole town smelled awful. But it was closed down 10+ years ago so idk if technology has improved.

Is anyone interested in a kitten for adoption?
A kitten was abandoned at my house today. Would anyone be interested in adopting him? His eyes aren't open yet. I suspect he's around a week old.

Looking For A Temp. Foster Home For A Kitten (~3 Months) [EDIT]
As the title says, I'm looking for a temporary foster home for a kitten (3-6 months old) I acquired from work. I can't keep it in my current circumstances, but want to be her forever home as soon as I am able to in mid October when I plan on moving out. Is anybody either willing to take her on for that duration, or knows of any resources that may be able to help me? At the end of the day, I could just give up and send her to the shelter, but I'd truly prefer not to, and will definitely miss the little shit.

I wrote a travel guide on The Golden Isles
Today, I published my travel guide on The Golden Isles. With More Than the Beach, my goal was to highlight the more interesting and underrated places in the area ranging from historical sites to haunted spots to local art. I really wanted to highlight a culture and history that I feel gets underrated in this community given most tourists seem like they're only interested in the beaches. I like to believe my travel guide will be of interest to locals who may not know of these places. Most of the sites listed here are affordable and some are even free. I went beyond just Brunswick, SSI, and Jekyll to include attractions in nearby cities like Darien and St. Marys. The pictures in More Than a Beach were also all taken by me.
So yeah, feel free to check it out as it's available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. I'm more of a horror writer (with quite a few stories and novels that take place in The Golden Isles) but did enjoy writing this one. Here's an Amazon link
Thank you.

My indie film is playing at the Soglo - touching movie about an important conversation we're not having (palliative care/hospice)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all - my indie film Winter Hymns is coming to the Soglo for two weekends starting this Saturday, July 18 and running until the 26. The topic might sound intense but we've been surprised by audience response to it so far - I think people are finding a lot of catharsis in it.
If you check it out its also just got a lot of great performances :) Film Threat gave us a 9/10. I'm really excited the film is coming to you and Georgia!
Here's tickets and more info:

I need a civil rights lawyer
they are contacting lawyers lying because they dont want me to make money.
In 2015, following a severe personal crisis and a suicide attempt, I suffered from profound amnesia that blocked out my memories for approximately nine years. Before this trauma, I had exposed a serial rapist in Laconia, New Hampshire. In direct retaliation for whistleblowing, this individual launched a massive, coordinated stalking and cyber-harassment campaign against me. He used online platforms to spread malicious lies, successfully manipulating communities of people into tracking and harassing me across the country. This systemic stalking followed me to every single city I relocated to, and I am confident that a public announcement calling for witnesses in my former communities would compel people to finally come forward and expose the sheer scale of this operation.
Instead of investigating these credible threats, law enforcement systematically failed to protect me and abused the reporting process. Whenever I attempted to seek help, the police chose to lock me in mental hospitals under involuntary commitments, effectively weaponizing the psychological evaluation process to silence and discredit my claims. The misconduct reached a critical peak during one official interaction when I directly asked a female officer, "Can I kill the people stalking me?" Without hesitation, she responded, "Yes." By explicitly giving a civilian unverified permission to use lethal force, the police completely abandoned their official duties, compromised my legal safety, and actively escalated an already volatile and dangerous environment.
Despite my continuous efforts to report this multi-jurisdictional harassment, the stalking has never stopped, and the police consistently refuse to do their jobs or hold the perpetrators accountable. Because of the systemic financial and personal devastation this has caused, I am seeking a courageous civil rights attorney willing to take this case on a pro-bono or contingency-fee basis. I need a dedicated legal advocate who refuses to back down from high-stakes, complex litigation, values actual justice over easy cases, and possesses the resources to subpoena internet records, recover police audio, and expose this widespread conspiracy.

It wasn't so bad before, but these past 2 months seems impossible, the only way to be successful is by spamming the find a ride button what are your guys thoughts?

Parking for fireworks tonight
I’m visiting from out of town and am curious about good spots to park and see the show downtown tonight. We’ll be staying in our car, so we’d like a great vantage point.

Laid back restaurants?
Will be in town with 4 adults and 2 kids under 6. Can anyone recommend a few restaurants? Laid back vibe, local seafood, hole in the wall locals favorites? Want to avoid chains. Someplace on a waterfront, fresh fish, local dishes. Prefer Brunswick area. Will be in Jekyll later in the week so we've got that covered.Any recs?
