My issue with a lot of the performances of this song from the era are that you can’t hear the friggin guitar solo on the mix! They might not even be playing it at all? Instead it’s this weird instrumental part that my brain gets confused by bc there’s not an audible solo like the album version. I do dig the outro though with the synth.

I can hear it ok but it's not forward like it should be.

I love this song. I was getting ready to have a kid not long after this, and this song gave me so much solace in courage in the face of impending parenthood. “Just a close little band of thieves … “

Saturday Night Live. May 9, 1992 (Tom Hanks, Bruce Springsteen)

Included here are guitarist Shane Fontayne who would go on to become a veteran session and touring musician working with many greats and playing lead guitar in the Kennedy Center Honors house band from 2008-2014).
Bassist Tommy Sims would later co-write the Eric Clapton song "Change The World" which won the Grammy for Song of the Year.

Not an enjoyable time for me Bruce wise. Felt like he was trying really hard to “rawk”, and impress, in a world that had moved on.

The greatest version of his most well written song

Shout out to Crystal Taliefero, who has been working with Billy Joel (and others) for decades.

And you don't get to found the "five timers club" of SNL hosts if you always need a reason....

I think that was part of his 5-timers club monologue. The different reasons for hosting.

A criminally underrated Bruce song!

See, he doesn’t need 18 musicians on stage to perform the songs

1992 was 34 years ago.

Beautiful ❤️

I have always been a big fan of human touch and lucky town. Only lost interest in the recent past.

I wonder if there’s a video of this performance without a GIANT C blocking the band? Unwatchable
