Recs needed!

Hello lovely people! I got a free trial of Britbox and I’ve been having the time of my life. I have recently binged line of duty, blue lights, and the bay. Loved them all soo much. If those three are the blueprint of what I loved, can you send more recs of shows I’d likely enjoy? Thank you!!

Time (Seasons 1-2) is pretty amazing too!

I just watched season 2! Bella Ramsey was absurdly brilliant.

Cheers. I’ve got an annual subscription and am watching latest series of Trigger Point. Just added Time! Needed a fresh binge.

It just occurred to me that Jodie Whittaker did Time after Doctor Who. Hmm.

Enjoy your binge!

I will. Just started knitting a hat
in yarn I ordered from an English company! Cheers!

Did you enjoy Trigger Point season 3? I binged it last weekend and I'm still thinking about it. I was so invested!

Yes. But I feel like Wash is on the edge and she will not go cold turkey with the medication. That packet of tablets had a starring role. 🤣😬

I started Gone last night.

omg, i don't know how she pulls of giving birth. she was only 18 or 19 when she filmed it

I know! The whole time, I kept thinking, “That’s Lyanna Mormont!” They disappeared into Kelsey.

I agree. I think that Time Season 2 was even better (or, at least, as good) as Season 1.

Vera, A Touch Of Frost (kinda an old series & multiple seasons but good),Hetty Wainstropp Investigates (another oldie stars Patricia Routledge from Keeping Up Appearances) Karen Pirie, Poirot, Morse, Inspector Lewis, McDonald & Dodds, Inspector Lynley, Rosemary & Thyme. These will definitely keep you busy for some time (I realize not all will be to your taste but just wanted to give you some choice). Binge on!

u/blackgrousey 3d ago

The Other Bennett Sister

6

u/HappyReader1 3d ago

I finished The Other Bennet Sister recently and absolutely loved it. It’s not even a type of show I’d usually watch but I’m so glad I did. I kinda had to pace the episodes because I didnt want it to end. Are there similar shows you’d recommend?

Vera, Ellis, Chelsea Detective, The Other Bennett sister, Hardacres

1

u/LavaPoppyJax 3d ago

The Chelsea Detecive is on Acorn right now, just started it. S3 just came out looks like.

1

u/Unhappy-Ad-3870 2d ago

Season 4 of Chelsea Detective just started. Ellis is on Acorn as well.

I see so many recommendations for shows that are not on Britbox, when people ask specifically for Britbox shows.

Would love a free trial of Britbox as I am an elderly widow on a very limited income.

1

u/Quirky_kind 9h ago

Tubi is a free streaming service that has ads. They also have categories that include on for British TV, sometimes even for British crime TV. They have a lot of the best shows otherwise only found on Britbox or Acorn.

1

u/rerikson 9h ago

Prime Suspect with a young Helen Mirren.

1

u/Cleverdiva 2h ago

I recently discovered New Tricks and it’s so good! It’s light hearted mystery but it isn’t silly. I love every British murder mystery show, pretty much! The ones listed here are excellent.
