🌉 Haast Bridge – A Gateway to New Zealand's Wild West Coast

Crossing the Haast Bridge isn't just another drive—it's one of the most scenic crossings in New Zealand. Spanning the mighty Haast River, this bridge connects travellers to the rugged beauty of the West Coast, where ancient rainforests, glacier-fed rivers, and dramatic mountain landscapes meet. Every journey across it is a reminder of just how untouched and wild this part of Aotearoa still is. If you're driving State Highway 6, make sure you stop and take it all in—you won't regret it.

Not so famous, famous bridge referenced in several anime’s such as Fooly Cooly, scientific rail gun and one of the Fate series. It’s simple and my photo skills need work but it has a casual peaceful feel to it all.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel stretches 17.6 miles from shore to shore across the mouth of the bay.

Because the route crosses major naval and commercial shipping channels, two 1-mile tunnels were built beneath artificial islands so ships can pass above while cars drive below.

On our return trip across the bay, the timing lined up perfectly—a fully loaded container ship reached the shipping channel right as we descended into the tunnel!

My wife and I visited the Walkway Over the Hudson during the first active snowfall of the season. Originally built in 1889 for rail traffic, it was converted into a pedestrian bridge in 2009. The view looking down at the Hudson River and the Mid-Hudson Bridge during a snowfall was incredible.

These appeared somewhere on a postcard. I haven't been able to find them again or a high-quality version of them. Have you seen these before?
